One thing I managed to realise is apparently, even three years after the Tokyo 2020 games, Miraitowa and Someity can still be seen on a few occasions in events at Tokyo, which something tells me that the Japanese are not quite ready to say goodbye to them.
The Japanese do not want to say goodbye to them at all. Instead of saying goodbye, they officially repurposed Miraitowa and Someity for new uses; they are now permenant characters. Also, Miraitowa and Someity do appear at events outside of Tokyo after the Games. However, they are only allowed to appear in events outside of Tokyo if they are hosted by the JOC since the IOC/IPC still owns the rights to them (even though the IOC rarely uses them and uses them less than the JOC).
Another thing about the Phryges is they've actually started in a series of TikTok and RUclips Shorts videos, one is the walk around character versions of them trying their hands on the sports from the Games and another are CGI shorts where a Phryge finds a thing from a sporting event in the Games like say a pair of swimming goggles from the Swimming event, wonders what it's for and what they're supposed to do with it, then other Phryges come in and shows it a book about the sport the item is from and that's when the Phryge finally gets what it's for and so learns the sport. A lot of people actually find the CG shorts to be pretty cute and say that the shorts truly bring out the charm of the Phryges.
Alright! I waited a long time to see this last part! Won't be long before we get to the domestic sports mascots from the NFL, NBA, and NHL. Also, Wenlock and Mandeville are one of my favorite Olympic mascots alongside Izzy. Fight me.
My favourite Olympic mascots are all the mascots from Olympiads that took place in Canada (Amik, Hidy, Howdy, Miga, Quatchi, Sumi and Mukmuk) as well as Wenlock, Izzy, Tom, Shuey Rhon Rhon and Phryge
Thank you for finishing your Olympic mascot retrospective. I appreciate it. Also I don’t really have that much money to give to you, but could you take my request for a video because I would really like to hear the history of the Wendy’s mascot and how she changed over the years
I appreciate your support! I'll add Wendy to my list. She's got a similar vibe to Colonel Sanders (who I also want to cover) where she's technically a real person who became a mascot.
@@BrandManagement here’s a fun fact for your KFC video. Colonel Sanders was never a real colonel. He only is an honorary colonel because in Kentucky if you do enough charity or become famous enough, you could become a colonel in name and name alone.
I still would like to try and collect merchandise based on the various Olympic mascots. As of right now, I only have a set on UNO cards featuring Miraitowa.
I love the Tokyo mascots. I love them a lot more than most of the anthro animal characters in this video. They all just seem so basic and kind of corporate. Maybe it’s just the art style, as characters in the 2010s seem to have this specific vibe/style to them that i’m not a big fan of, at least compared to older mascots that had much toonier styles
@@BrandManagement I usually prefer animal mascots by a mile, but the recent ones just seem so plain. This is my first time seeing the next winter olympic mascots though, and I ADORE them
The Tokyo Mascots, Sam Eagle, and the Australian mascots are some of my favorite Olympic mascots! I find it funny how we have three eagle characters named Sam [Olympics Sam Eagle, America Sings Sam The Eagle, Muppets Sam The Eagle], it must be a popular name for eagles! Hey Brand Management, will you cover The California Raisins and The Noid one day? They're some of my favorite mascots, though I may be biased as I ADORE Claymation.
I've definitely wondered where the "Sam Eagle" name started. I assume it's just a combination of "Uncle Sam" with the American bald eagle, but why did so many characters get the same name around the same time. I plan to cover the Noid soon.
The Olympic Phryge takes the shape and form of a Phrygian cap. As Paris 2024’s vision is to demonstrate that sport can change lives, the mascots will be playing a major role by leading a revolution through sport. The Olympic Phryge is decked out in blue, white and red - the colours of France’s famed tricolor flag - with the golden Paris 2024 logo emblazoned across its chest
There are talks (and even a petition) to use the Phryges again for the Winter games in 2030 in the French Alps. Let’s wait ! They were a success with plushes (record number of plusher sold in France and even in China) and derivatives objects.
Hmm...maybe that's his primary inspiration. Interestingly according to the Olympic design website, vinicius and tom were initially just both animal plant hybrids, though from the initial concept it seems his hands are from a macaw (umm...sure?), he has a monkeys face, wolf feet and jaguar ears, considering he still has those traits I guess those points still stand.
You forgot that victor chizhkov (the designer of Misha) accused the designer of the Sochi polar bear of plagiarism, victor said "they just made him fatter"
Now, brand management, I like miratowa and sometiy so much, that I was the first person that loved the characters in the United States of America. You know the lines, Miratowa and Sometiy didn't catch on to everybody, and failed to compete against any Olympic mascots. But Mr Brandy, Sorry to say... You lied. Japan is making the 2020 games a whole memory of a kind. Miratowa and Sometiy was booming the crowd and they were so popular, time to bring them to America. In the future, miratowa and sometiy will be in my country. I will make the design a little bit different since the games are over in Tokyo already, I will remove the logo on their foreheads. Hope controversy won't come to me. And lastly miratowa and sometiy was also enough to make RUclips channels for the mascots and games, like Spain, Britain, and their home country, Japan. I really appreciate it, if you need help me miss something, please let me know.
Wow thanks you using 2010s to 2024 olympic mascot 😆😆😆. I wonder what is the the future olympic mascot will be look like 🤔🤔🤔? In 2026 olympics mascot was tina and milo the ermine siblings (don't forget the flos). How about 2028 2030 2032 2034 olympic mascot will be🤔🤔🤔?
2028 is in California so it could be another bear, and 2032 apparently aussies wanted some bird that messes around their dustbins (which got rejected). And there's also a chance they may pull another Izzy or wenlock and Mandeville and be like "what is this?!", hopefully with a strong enough justification

There were mocked at the beginning (in France and elsewhere) but became iconic and are hit (record sale of plushes and derivatives objects). Also the way they were portrayed during the Olympics and after (many costumed and shiny Phryges) helped a lot. PS : And if you are thinking about a certain female organ, well, why not ! Some people do need a reminder about it 🙃, and it’s France, we have zero problem with it 😂.
@gabrielchee8470 what could you imagine the another wenlock and mandeville izzy I picture izzy being 2028 or another wenlock and mandeville if the la stadium is made of steel if it's that mascot it would be american version of wenlock and mandeville. Personally in my opinion the la mascot would be a bear hopefully not another wenlock and mandeville situation the paralympics one would be a otter!😊
Vinicius was by far the cutest mascot since the Vancouver mascots. I still love him to this day❤️
