Something about the person vacuuming in the background is so funny to me. Shout out vacuum person, keep doing the good work
Its Anatoly
I clean here no ?
@@JaSon-wc4pnif she went up to them and said she could do the routine perfectly and does, that would’ve been hilarious lmao
and the fact that they didn't tell her to turn it off and move is nice
@@madeline5473 It's a fake routine, no?
Ich finde sie sieht aus wie aus Ghostbusters
The issue with this routine is, not only is every skill stupid hard so you can’t even do it all individually, but the bars are close together which means all the bounces hurt.
4'11 and 85 pounds might have been a factor
This really makes one appreciate how amazingly talented Nadia Comaneci was.
Right?! I mean, I've seen that routine a million times, but the way they broke it down made me appreciate it a thousand percent more!
Nadia is the best gymnast in the World
@@VeroD-ow5zx I'll never forget watching her in the competition at the time, when the scores came in I was blown away. Nadia is a legend. How different the Olympics were then, at least it was about the sport and the competition had integrity.
Not to mention that at Montreal she did her uneven bars routines bare handed with no grips, and the bars were a bit bigger around.
The fact that it took 4 competition level gymnast to complete thos routine just shows how incredible it was
I KNOW THAT SIMONE BILES CANT DO AS WELL AS NADIA COMANECI❤ AND I KNOW THAT NADOA COMANECI IS BETTER THAN BILES❤
@@giffysstiffy8874giffytuckyou’re kidding right?
@@moonvine11 NADIA COMANECI IS MUCH BETTER THAN SIMONE THE FAKE BILES🥰🥰
@@giffysstiffy8874giffytuckWhat a bizarre comment to make. Gymnastics has changed so much you're essentially comparing two entirely different sports.
@@giffysstiffy8874giffytuck first, no need to keep shouting 😂
Second, today's uneven bars are so much different than back then, it's like comparing apples and patio furniture. Nadia could never have performed like Simone can, and Simone could never perform like Nadia did. The apparatus is vastly different and each trained to excel on the bars as they were. Nadia was the greatest of her time. Simone is the greatest of hers.
I've seen this routine a hundred times and thought it looked so easy and simple compared to today's routines. It's cool to see modern gymnasts struggle with it. Comaneci just makes it look so easy!
I thinks thats why she got a 10 lol
They are gymnast but retired from official or professional gymnastics so their body is not at their peak and might not even the apparatus they are good at but old gymnastics are really difficult and risky that’s why some mores are banned .
honestly, its funny, noone would attempt an olympic routine from todays time just trying it for one day. The moves are super uncommon today and the bar was set even closer, so going from highbar to lowbar was just reaching up more or less. But i agree they would need to put in a lot of training to become good at that routine and buy a new set of bars
That was her magic: to make hard things look easy. That’s a real challenge.
It is CRAZY how close the bars used to be. Even with their adjustments it was still MUCH further than what it was in 1976. Nadia was 4 feet 11, and could sit on the low bar and touch the high bar.
That’s what I was thinking about.
literally mens parallel bars adjusted for height and widened slightly
do you think that her very light weight played a role also ? (I don't know anything about uneven bars ....)
I know. I love the bar routines of the 70s and 80s. They're just breathtaking.
@@tarantellalarouge7632 Yeah, it was a different kind of training & performance style back then - based on flexibility, precision & flow of movement, not strenght. So, puberty was actually working against you, instead of for you like today (bc it makes you stronger).
In order to compensate for the body naturally losing its effortless, prepubescent agility as it matured, they had to become *as light as possible.* And for that, they were training while undergoing a very restrictive food regime at the same time. That's why Nadia (along with most other old school gymnasts) looked like a twig... and also why the average age of professional gymnasts was so low, with most retiring before or around 20.
Thoughts and prayers to Ash's editor, who had to try to get some decent audio through that incessant vacuuming 😄
At first I thought it was the Mos Eisley Cantina jam from Star Wars, which would have been great for these Jedi warriors.
I legitimately kept thinking someone was vacuuming in my home 😂
Jules Gaia songs - Royalty free I think, they use them all the time on Nerdforge channel as well.
I didn’t notice the vacuum, thought it was “sound o’ big dump truck outside gym!” How far from Leeds trinity is that gym?
Not only were the bars so much closer, they were still wood in the 70s. Seeing Nadia literally float through her routines was amazing.
Knowing they are wood, explains how easily Nadia took the bar to the gut, compared to now
@@deannad9105 It's more difficult now?
@@dyawr Now that I think about it, I was thinking it was made out of metal, because I watched a video on Ian Gunther's RUclips channel for the men's bar. He broke the bar and then made rings (as in jewelry) out of the broken metal. But I don't know if the woman's bar is the same or not 🤔
@@deannad9105 That's interesting 🤔
Not to knock nadias skill one bit, but i think the fact she was so young and so tiny really worked in her favor with how she flew so “easily” - other gymnasts of the time often commented they just couldnt do those tricks with extra weight. Nadia also was amazingly talented and worked tirelessly… but i think it was a right time right age thing too. She may not have been able to pull off same skills at 14-15.
It is magic to see her even today ❤
I would like to see Simone Biles doing this.
Nadia made it look so effortless and easy all those many years ago.
As a competitive US gymnast in the 1980s, there is nothing I loathed more than belly-beats. Unfortunately, I retired before the wide set bars became the norm. I had bruises on my hips all through my teen years due to those beats.
Exactly! I couldn't cope with all the bruising. It's so hard to know, just by watching a routine, how much it can batter you, and it's treated by trainers as just part of being a gymnast.
people praise the old bars, but honestly i'm glad it changed, these looked so painful
I was a walking bruise due to bars and beam... lol
I remember as a kid just STARTING to learn how to use the bar and being SO sore after the first day that my mom thought I might be having an appendicitis.
I Still think the bars are too far apart. Nadia is TINY.
You only know how hard it is by how easy she made it look.
Cathy Rigby once commented on her bar routine: "You know, it doesn´t even look difficult"
On some of those releases Nadia did, I honestly thought I was watching on 1.5x speed and had to check. She was insane! 😮
That was highly entertaining and also shows that what Nadia made look easy is in fact super challenging!
Loved that they not only stitched it together, but did it in sync with hers and showed them together. Epic attempt, guys! 🤩
The straddle somersault from the low to the high bar was called a Radochla. The one from the high bar to re-catch the high bar was Comaneci’s own skill the Comaneci Radochla. She was a brilliant gymnast. Perfect form always.
Surprise, surprise, it takes a once-in-a-generation talent and a decade of practice to do that routine for gold.
A moment of silence for the fingernails that gave their lives so we may be entertained.
That was an _incredible_ routine that you were attempting to replicate, and it was really fun watching everybody work on it! Honestly, the compilation routine at the end showing everybody's contribution was the best. I absolutely loved that idea. It shows humility and reverence for the greats to see everybody sharing the routine's final run!
I have only 2 words to describe Nadia "PURE PERFECTION" ... but I must congratulate with all of you because you well know how incredible good was Nadia.
I'm a fan of Sophia and was not so simple for her only to replicate Nadia's salto ... imagine the full routine!
Well done ... maybe one day your "group" can try her "balance beam" routine!
I watched it live , I was young girl ...she became my hero .
It just needed the vacuum lady to step up and do the routine and then reveal she's Nadia C.
Brilliant work, hats off to everyone. There were some VERY close shaves! It really showed how insanely difficult the routine was. Next time can you try the Korbut bar routine! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Where the bars set to the 1976 regulation distance? Pretty sure the space between the high & low bars was increased in the late ‘80s.
Just more proof how difficult her bar routine was and remains to be. She had enough difficulty to still start at a 10.0 well into the 2000 code
The Olympic level gymnast are incredible. These videos put it in perspective how incredibly difficult everything is about their routines. Thanks
I love watching gymnastics routines from back in the day. They just seemed a lot more creative
Ah a bars routine from my competing days! The key to the mount was to start from one leg & walk into the turn, which allows you to turn faster & more easily and in a more controlled way (you were trying to do it for a standing 2-footed jump start). Impressed how well you did on the Radochla and Comaneci as they're tricky to learn! The techniques are quite similar - in the Radochla the rotation speed is slightly less with more diagonal travel, whereas the Comaneci needs faster, more vertical rotation. Hats off to all of you, though!
Wow interesting. Thanks for that insight. I'm fascinated by the breaking down of skills even though I can't even do a cartwheel.
I wonder if Nadia will see this. She'd likely appreciate it.
This really makes you appreciate Nadia’s routine difficulty
Luke was killing it!
That was fun to watch! I remember “wrapping” the bar, then they changed the bars to the wide set and no more kip, catches or hip wraps. On to tap swings and giants, etc.
Women's gymnastics lost so much artistry in routines with that change. Scoring changes removed a fair amount from the beam, giving no incentive for some gorgeous and thrilling beam mounts of years ago.
Loved the vid ash we all needed this collab and the amount of fails you should go through your vids and make a fail vid love it
I’m watching this at the Bart Conner gym rn lol.
The way both routines from Nadia (Q and Final) look so similarly executed between each other is just so ugh! Perfect!
The cleaning lady came to do a job and do it was what she was going to do !!
makes me appreciate nadia that much more!!
she made it look so easy!! 😱
Shout out to the cleaning lady! Legend!!!
I grew up watching women's gymnastics with the bars closer together like this. With the bars so far apart like they are today, it's just constant releasing from one bar to the other. There's so much artistry and skill lost with the changes.
This makes me really realize just what a prodigy she was.
You are all simply a joy to watch! Former gymnast here. In my 50s now. I’d give anything to go back in time for a day and do some some gymnastics. ❤
No age is too old to do some gymnastics but obviously most of the modern style gymnastics is out of question.
Ok time to do some full '60s/70s floor routines!
I really enjoyed watching this. Nadia would be so impressed with this
End edit was mint
I feel like it’s important to remember that elite women’s gymnasts in the 70s weighed like 65 lbs.
Awesome compilation side-by-side editing!! 😁 ALOHA!!🤙
But that wasn’t Nadia’s dismount at the end was it? The one y’all did looked like a front half instead of an actual Comaneci dismount (half turn back tuck out). Anyway, very cool routine!
Nadia Comaneci just looked like gravity didn't apply to her.
It’s really a testament to just how hard this is to achieve when even people who have a ton of skill in related things have trouble with it. A great video to give the rest of us a reality check. 😂
Great effort by yoy all, it just goes to show how good Nadia was. God bless
Amazing idea, from Montreal
The rails we had in college(mid 70's) were elliptical ,not round. I hated doing beating from a cast from the high bar to low bar......
7:23 is the best!!!🤣
Set the top bar to a comfortable height for you. Then to set the distance between the bars, you hop up on the low bar, grabbing the high bar, and figure out how much you need to adjust to make it where you’re holding the top bar, while finding where your hips are going to wrap around the lower bar naturally. You REALLY need to get that distance right. Trust me, if you don’t and beat the bar, it HURTS!!…if that makes sense at all. Probably not. 😂
Isn’t the Comaneci release still like, an F level skill?
I guess the answer to your question can we do Nadia's routine is no, no you can't
I wasn’t sure where all that was going but the end result was rad!
The level of difficulty in that routine is insane. It took all of you to be able to put 1 of Nadia's routines together
Some fantastic editing happening at the end. What an amazing routine!
Romania never uses grips. They have always done the most beautiful gymnastics. True masters of the sport.
How many gymnasts does it take to do a Nadia Comăneci routine? 😉 For real though, you guys did a great job and really challenged yourself, especially considering how much the equipment has changed since Nadia performed. It was cool seeing the combination of all your best skills recreate her routine, seeing the guys do the uneven bars, and seeing the girls adjust to the new bar position. I'm also relieved nobody got hurt. Great job!
So pretty much none of it lol
This is eye-opening. Thank you for doing this.
Yep the bars used to be a lot closer together
And that's why Nadia is a goddess
Wow y'all, solid effort. Watching the competitions makes it all seem effortless, but you give some insight into the hours of practice and perfecting. Haha and most of us wouldn't be able to do even the simplest of moves so....
I have been waiting for this for so long! Thank youuuuuu😅
This is BRILLIANT! As others have said, the bars may be too far apart…and Nadia was a teensy pixie of a person. She wasn’t muscular. She was tiny and barely weighed more than a bugs ear! Seriously so cool that y’all are recreating these classic routines! Applause!!! 🎉
Back in the day, the bars were a LOT closer together.
The vacuuming, the nails, ahaha. 2 mins in I’m already laughing, thanks ash.
Funniest (is that a word) video yet, plus respect for "us oldies" that had to wrap the bar (hip bruises!!) and do "kip catches" etc...!
Yeni videolarınızı gördüm gayret güzel buldum
Nadia didn’t have much weight to carry … like a bird in flight she was
Ash looking like an acrobatic dwarf from Lord of the Rings…😁
Although I totally respect Nadia and loved her gymnastics, I still don’t understand how she got a 10 with the hop on the landing. Or were there no landing deductions back then, serious question.
Awesome. Really gives you an idea of how difficult this routine really was. Impressive by all of you.
it's hard enough constantly hearing yard/leaf blowers and tree trimmers outside (there's one right now as I type this)... but then to watch a video with that sound? oh, the humanity.
So many guys think.they can skip from beginner to expert and when in doubt blame it on the equipment. Typical.
Definitely be grateful you can get your nails re-done right after just getting them done because you cutting them physically hurt me😂
It took me a moment to realize there wasn't going to be ten bars in this vid...
This was so funny to watch 😂 I love Nadia and it makes me realze just how exceptionally talented she was as a gymnast to be able to do what she did with such elegance and precision.
Why didn’t they find out just how the bars were set for that competition in that time?
I'd love for them to forget the camera when they leave and it's still rolling, and then we see the cleaning lady casually doing the whole routine in the background.
That was so much fun to watch in so many ways. Love watching you guys ❤
Nice edit
This is awesome. Was not expecting the stitched together ending. Really well done.
Merdiven buluşunuz bir harka fikir olmuş
one thing that would have MADE this video is a tripod man. sometimes it’s hard to see what’s going on with the slight shake of a handheld cam x
I feel like it would be easier if the bars were set up exactly right for this routine and your heights. Good job though!
For some of these it would be easier to use the pbars with one bar raised. Modern uneven bars aren’t close enough.
BTW you don’t pronounce the ‘I’, it’s “komanetch”.
man, nadia did all this while being starved and beaten by the karolyis
Pretty cool!
She wouldn’t have gotten a ten today because she took a hop on the landing
Really like this concept video
Is it possible to send you movement challenges?
That was actually really impressive and sexy
Yep, maybe a 9.99 for u guys. 🤔 A bit rusty...
