I had a heart transplant when I was 16 in the year 1997 and I had a kidney transplant from my mom at age 26 in the year 2007. It's very scary to go through all this. I'm glad you are still here
What a horrible thing to have happen, but such a beautiful story. Anyone who has ever had their breathing restricted or been unable to breathe, even for a short amount of time knows how painfully terrifying that feeling is. It's the scariest feeling in the world. It's really amazing what can happen when so many good people, doctors, nurses, and miraculous technology come together. It's unbelievable. I am so glad that everything worked out so well for everyone involved. Everyone is a hero in this story.
Hello Diane, I'm so very happy for you. I'm currently on the Lung Transplant Program doing the assessment. I now have an obstacle in this process to proceed. I need to have a support person to be with me at my medical appts and to be there at my surgery. I don't have family or a friend who can be this support for me. You are very fortunate that you have family who were there for you. And this is to take place in Edmonton Alberta. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am praying that this program will change the musts and do's in my case. Or God will provide this person to travel with me and pay for their own meals and place to stay. Who can this be and will do this for me, this is a big thing to ask on anyone. I can travel alone and do this surgery if I am chosen and picked for new lungs. I have been alone for the most part of my life from having any family support so what is the big deal to have this support person in place. Amazing I came upon this video of yours. May God bless you sweetly to all of your family.
OMG, I feel so very much sorry that there is no friend to help you get through this😥 go on website on a lung foundation you can find a lot of people who suffer from lung illnesses I am sure that you are able to find some friends 🍀🍀🍀 I wish you that you are well bless you!! 🌹🌹🌹
Wow! That's absolutely amazing! I've never heard of that before. I would imagine that getting a love from two different people it would open you up to much higher risk of rejection?! What a great story. When you said they needed "tall" people for this transplant, you weren't kidding! Was that your son in the first clip of you talking on the sidewalk? Big boys! Well what a beautiful family. This is what family is all about. The love and support for one another is something we all need to take note of and implement into our own families. Stop sweating the small stuff. You definitely beat the odds my dear! It's great to see you so healthy and happy with your family around you so long after the transplant! My daughter had a small bowel and pancreas transplant (both from one donor) when she was 4. She had very serious complications and was left open on life support for 7 weeks and she had several surgeries for bleeding and complications during that time, it took a long time to get her closed up. But she's 15 now and the doctors are shocked. She's had zero symptoms of rejection on the absolute lowest dose of her anti-rejection drugs. What they are able to do to save our loved ones is truly astounding and it makes me so thankful we live in this time period to have such medical advancements available for us to have our family alive and as well as possible. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful and intimate story! Take care!
God Bless you and your family Brenda! Thank you for making this video. Interestingly enough, I came out of surgery in my last back surgery in 2014 (Ottawa)with low oxygen saturation. They checked me for everything. They kept me hospitalized for over two weeks for what should have been a two to three night stay at the worst. Fast forward to April 2019 (Halifax) and they have now said I have Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. I suspect that in 2014 that is what I had. I am not on any list yet. I am being tested regularly and I am holding my own as of three months ago. I am not tethered to an oxygen line yet. So all is pretty good. But the similarities were amazing between how both yours and my lung problems became prominent. Thank you for sharing your story and thank you for the powerhouse attitude you exude here. God Bless you all! ❤️💕❤️, Nan
I have pulmonary fibrosis secondary to rheumatoid arthritis, which was diagnosed at age 24. I’m currently 70. My lung issues began in 2014 with intermittent O2 use followed by continuous O2 in 2017. I have declined lung transplantation. The physical requirements are just too much for me to handle. I have decided that lungs that would be suited to me would be better given to a younger, healthier person. I’m living in hospice with my family in Iowa City. I imagine I have just months to live, but I’m content with my decision and my life.
Congratulations on your transplant I too had a lung transplant 4/2/11 I also had pulmonary fibrosis my donor was on life support I was 45 when I was diagnosed 47 when I had my tx I had only weeks to live at that time.your tx was interesting I never heard of a tx like that usually they won't use live donors that aren't people on life support and yes those list are too long I almost didn't make it I had friends who went I to rejection needed a 2nd tx and didn't make it for that one
Amazing story , so glad it all turned out very well thank god ❤️🙏❤️. Beautiful story had me in tears . Sending love to the entire family so glad it ended happy ❤️👍😉🙏.
Wow i need a transplant I'm try to get valves bad emphysema at the point of no return either valves reduction surgery or coil life stinks i do nothing but worry when my times up doon
I wish they could just develop a machine that could breath for people long term. I mean even if you had limited mobility it would be a great invention.
This Lady is amazingthe gratitude she hasfor life is vibrant I am on the donor list for a set of lungs organ recipients always give me assurance that everything will workout TGH does over 200 lung transplants a year
That's bull shit. That would mean that before her sons were even born this god of yours knew she would later in life need a double lung transplant, so he could create the sons with similar anatomy. Glory to god? Why did Jesus give her diseased lungs in the first place? Superstitious thinking taken to the max, if you stopped for one moment to ponder the absurdity of that you would have realized its impossible.
At this point i'm still very shocked with the negative result I got after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for so long. Thanks once again Dr. Ogudugu on RUclips for your medication
