I personally really like the clutter! It makes the homes feel "lived in" and kind of have a personality. I'm a pretty messy and disorganised person myself, so maybe that's why I relate so much 😉
I agree that is better for gameplay but some people prefer building over gameplay and don't even play in their houses. I am pretty much like that and I tend to clutter my houses because like @ewwricka said, it makes homes feel more lived in and I am also a messy and disorganized person and it feels more realistic to me.
Kayla, this is bang on!! My aunt lives in Texas and when she bought her house, it looked exactly like that!! But hers was a 5 bed-roomed house! But literally this was 🤩🤩
To the painting walls point, I've actually heard designers recommend picking a paint color after at least some of the big furniture pieces have been selected.
I feel like even the lighter skin swatches still have odd undertones and such. However, there are a lot more options when it comes to decent light swatches than the darker swatches.
As someone who lives in texas, I agree that the shell looks like texas. The actual house that you turned it into looks much nicer than Texas itself however. God I hate Texas 😂
@@alliepaige6442 that's probably fair, I've only lived here for two years, the first 2 in an apartment and we just moved into a _yellow_ suburban 😂 at least around Austin where I used to live, they got really pretty houses down there

OH MY GOSH, you did such a nice job with this house. I love how the sims community is just so creative when it comes to building and how satisfying the final product becomes. Thank you for the great content simsie.

I often leave painting the walls until near the end. Sometimes you just need to figure out the floorplan and furniture first. I'll even put the furniture down first, then the walls, that's a great technique in shell challenges when you have no clue how to do the floorplan.

Shell challenges is my favorite. I like to make own shells and put them on the gallery before I make it a house myself. It’s also inspiring to see other people’s work. I get so inspired seeing that
Simsie! After watching your vids I decided to leave the wall painting until last and let me tell you it ELEVATED my builds - choosing furniture and then paint is such a good choice!! Never change!
I've absorbed Kayla's habit of painting the walls last and guys. IT. MAKES. SENSE. We only have so many swatch options on the furniture, do when you paint the walls first it's really hard to find a good swatch. Walls last allows more creative freedom when furnishing and then you can see what color makes the most sense.
honestly you paint walls in exactly the order that everyone I know has always done it in real life. like, you can't just reupholster your couch easily to match the paint color you pick, and most ppl don't buy new furniture often so when you move most ppl paint walls to match what they have lol
1. I build the outer walls. 2. Draw where the bedroom, bathroom, livingroom and (dining and kitchen)room thing are. 3. I paint it outside and add windows. 4. Then i furnish and paint: the Livingroom, Kitchen/Diningroom, Bedroom and Bathroom.

As a person that lives in an almost 100 year old house in the Netherlands, i can definitely confirm we have doors into everything. I have tried so many times to build my own house in the sims but the hallway downstairs just never makes ANY sense. The only ‘open’ room we have is our dining / living room. But even that room used to be separated in two with sliding doors down in the middle.

These videos always remind me of when I worked in a clothing shop and certain wall displays could not be rearranged to make room for stock because they had been done by designers to be the most attractive in the shop. When ever I saw those displays I couldn’t help but laugh at the sudden image in my head of you maniacally screaming “DON’T TOUCH MY WALLS!!!”
The paint colors in the Sims ARE weird, and so are some of the furniture swatches. that makes me paint FIRST though and then furnish so that I can make sure everything kinda matches. I hate putting down furniture and then realizing the walls don't look right. I guess that isn't a problem if you do a lot of brown rooms though 😂❤️
My building routine is: shape, roofing, exterior wallpaper, floorplan, furniture, windows (sometimes first the windows and then the furniture, at this point no lights yet), lighting, interior wallpaper, decorations and finally landscaping. For half the time I'm building I do it with no lighting and no interior wallpaper. Until I don't have the furniture down, I don't like to have the wallpaper unless I'm going for a precise feel that I already have figured out. There are times when I build something more thematic (i.e. medieval, industrial) that I first use the wallpaper for the outside in every room inside, I furnish everything with that wallpaper and only after that I change the wallpaper in some rooms or some walls to mix things up a little. I just want to choose the furniture before I select the wallpaper so I completely understand your routine
@@gracewheeler3347 I was building a black stone mansion in Forgotten Hollow these days, one of the rare occasions in which the wallpaper is set from the get go in all the house: I couldn't see a thing to furnish it :D I had to place at least temporary lights. With normal houses I don't usually feel the need but, yeah, there area times in which it's necessary to have at least some lights
Because of you I actually started painting the walls after and I find it useful because you can put together the furniture in a nice color scheme and then match the wall to it as to when I did the walls first, I felt restricted with what furniture to use to match the wall and I ended up using less colors
I keep the walls blank until I have the building furnished. I prefer to design around objects instead of a color. There's this part in color theory that your foreground colors be bolder and fuller than your background colors. Why have the walls stick out more than the furniture?
