The main reason people start with Wintertodt is the scaling damage. It's better to do at 10-14 HP. The problem with hunter rumors is the pitfall traps. Some of those mobs can hit pretty hard and it's going to be even harder at 10-14 HP. So if you raise your HP level Wintertodt is going to be more of a pain later. It's better imo to just get it out of the way, also the firemaking cape counts as a light source which is very useful in a lot of places. Also Wintertodt rewards. Yes you have a chance at better rewards with higher skills. However i'd argue that the early game supplies are better for your account overall. Lets be honest here. No one is doing Wintertodt at a high level for late game or even mid game supplies...
The prayer xp alone is worth doing it, I remember the early levels being awful to get on my iron. I went from low 60's to low 80's in a few days doing rumors, was lucky enough to green log around 220 rumors. The somewhat varied tasks help break up the repetitiveness too.
99 hunter might genuinely become the new iron meta after so many years, it's nice to have an early game resource generator that isn't as miserable as WT. Couple tips for people who want to do this route for early game iron because I'm also currently doing it; - get graceful, ardy cape, and fairy rings first; you do a ton of running and run energy is really the only limiting factor when it comes to spamming rumors - to counteract run energy, take all the harrlanders you're going to get from the rumors and turn them into energy potions, chocoloate dust is effectively free from gnome stronghold
But I can't use shops :o Choco bars are gonna have to come from Zanaris here. Plus, since this is slower xp and you don't have that many teleports early on; won't you get bored by this quite easily too?
I see two problems there: 1. HP struggle at hunter with new accounts 2. have fun getting to all hunter locations without almost any teleport option I'd say: 1. Get your Con to about 25 2. Do WT solos only and just collect the crates (took my about 85 solos?) so you dont waste much of bank space 3. unlock important teleport options (with this you can also get higher HP) 4. grind out hunter rumors In the end... just play the game the way you enjoy, but i cant agree with this video
The fuck are you talking? lol I just said you should at least unlock your teleports be4 grinding rumors. WT doesnt need teleports and can push your con lvl which is also good on an early iron.
This is exactly what I thought. How do you get around the game for the rumours and you need some hp to not die lol. I just started my ironman and currently grinding WT till around 80 for the 200k cash. After, continue levelling and then grind rumours a bit later
Well, besides the pitfall traps requiring you to have a higher hp level, solo Wintertodt can easily get you close to 70 Con, WC and Fletching after the grind. I agree with doing this after a few quests though. One thing you forgot to keep in mind, how are you going to teleport everywhere if you go straight to rumours? You need fairy rings and teleports.
Doing herbi rumours at 80 and moonlight moth at 75 implies you are only doing novice contracts. Otherwise those won't be assigned until you are 91 hunter for highest tier contracts.
Also you miss out on bird nests and chins. Even if you want to do rumours for clogs I'd probably do that after 99 hunter. The wwt loot is not great but you do it early game because it's more valuable then
Great video, had just done 99 fm grind prior to Varlamore and have jumped across to Hunter, currently 87 from rumours on my new iron. Love the new content.
I actually still think its worth doing fm to 99 prior to starting hunter. You will take a lot of dmg from deadfalls on a lowbie acct so do wt (even to just 85) while your hp is still low, then shift to rumours is my advice.
Overall, a good point. I think that the part about the moths/butterflies should have been listed before the prayer note but after all the herbs you get. My fingers were itching to type "you forgot about these busted things though!" Lvl 1 herblore, just need the supplies and hunter level to catch the moths and you have good prayer potion alternatives without having to tediously grab snape grass or pray for the right herbs. You get the moths as rumors and can specifically hunt them outside of rumors.
@@nigellh1153You don't need 91 hunter to catch moonlight moths and herbiboar tho, only if it's thru rumours. So yes you can most definitely catch moonlight moths at 75 and herbiboar at 80.
@nigellh1153 I think the general idea of it was to spread awareness of the general usefulness of the changes to hunter. Minor mistakes therein or not, we are all human and will make mistakes when compiling information like this. Its still all good points that newer players may not read into and be privy about.
Amazing. Going to finally do my supersnowflake ironamn. 60atk 99 str 60 def, dragonman. Has really interesting grinds vs mithril, addy, rune dragons. Starting out as firemaking is thematic but combining that with a 99 hunter start freshens it up.
If I ever do a fresh iron i think I'll still go with 10hp todt with baskets of bananas to get 95 firemaking for urium shades out of the way with as little pain and food cost as possible but from there the hunter grind seems super solid.
Agreed. He’s comparing a few month grind to a couple week grind. Do fm first. At least 90. 99 fm cape doesn’t really get you anything though. 99 hunter cape seems nice. The time investment on these two grinds aren’t comparable at all though.
I think this has skirted around some of the requirements to do this well, teleports, crafting pouches, crafting whistle etc. it focuses heavily on the benefits without giving a clear indication as specifically when you would start. I think someone forging this as a planned starting route would be an awesome idea.
Just watched! I have been doing bird houses and I was starting to wonder what the benefits hunter would have down the line. I was also starting to worry about how I was going to progress my ironman in general. Im really really glad hunter is so dang beneficial. Great video, thank you so much.
Thanks for your constant hard work. Just wanted to make a correction. You do not need to complete “At First Light” to gain access to the guild or rumours. It only gives you access to master tier rumours.
Hunter is a goated skill., was my 2nd 99 on my ironman and it set my account up great for future grinds. And with the release of varlamore I still use it for a few things even after having 99, Well worth training
There is now a ton of different things on a early iron worth doing compared to when i made mine, GOTR is absolutley massive early cos the necklace is a close bank tele and the laws/nats early game is huge, then we've got tempeross u get clues/planks for early construction and the caskets give teleport jewlry without the need for craft lvl but u do still need the magic level to enchant them, you can get rune items in caskets which is good early money and the food is insane :), Also LMS for rune pouch is amazing/rune arrows for money the options for early irons now is endless
What's amazing about Rumors is you can try the F2P iron experience and not be punished for having high hp. Getting food or tele jewelry for todt during the mid-game is trivial after having a strong start by doing everything else.
As my first member skill I have ever leveled up, Hunter has always been my favorite skill. This video made me want to work on Hunter for my Top 10 Hardcore Ironman 🔥
Just to give in perspective on why this is actually a really good idea for newer/current mid ironmen: Hunter has a lot of "little secrets", go look at the dragon impling, ninja impling drop tables, early access to glory amulets, no one goes for nature so tons of irit seeds +, basically full bark wizard armour except legs and plate (from wildy bosses), food, herbs, bird nests, coins (bout same as wintertodt), prayer xp in blessed bone shards and other various bones, a new way of getting early magic logs as even the basic sac can give 4 magic logs. The other thing is the general rule for ironmen is put all skill lamps into herblore/smithing early, and any combat into prayer/magic if you can. With the new herblore minigame, it could ease the pain of the 70 smithing grind on mid ironmen as most lamps would instead be used on smithing. TL;DR: I agree with you. My secret on my ironman was soul wars, followed zealgains and had like unreal amount of uncut rubies and diamonds, adamant and rune bolts, adamant and rune arrows, snapdragon seeds (now just snapdragon unf pots that I am too lazy to grind eggs for rofl), etc. The other secret, now, is undead pirates using wilderness food/pots from LMS, etc.
Misleading All of the benefits you mention are the exact reason why wintertodt is better. You aren’t doing the grind for the loot, especially if you are a UIM. Also for levelling, lighting logs is faster. But wintertodt is an inevitable hurdle because of the pet and clothing needed for clues. And since it’s easier at a low hp level, wintertodt early is objectively optimal. And let’s be real, if you aren’t playing a hcim or uim, you should be going for variety instead of grinding a skill from 1-90+.
tecu is 99 attention not str and as you said it i thought i could equip it on my 60 att pure and finally no lol :( sad for me cause sal is insane ! Nice vid g g
subscribed, saved video and liked XD this will help tons on my UIM i started about 5 days ago XD was doing the wildy method by picking up big bones and running to chaos alter, but i got to level hunter up too so kill multiple birds with 1 skill grind XD ty :)
I have been thinking about doing a iron man as my third account. I am doing slayer on my Alt for money and my main is usually skilling or bossing. I can't wait to do this to my first ever iron man.
thieving /agility is best early game. Getting 99 thieving early with rogues outfit and some ardy 2 you will get so much seeds for farming at 99 thieving you never miss the master farmer. pick the master farmers at farming guild and use seed bank to store them. This will net you alot of herbs and secondary with farming. you can also thiev for coins two.
WT has like no requirements. Hunter rumours has a ton of things to do to make it useful. You need graceful and/or higher agility. You need herbiboar unlocked, several quests done. WT is nice that it gives you a boost at almost no requirements.
I was asking this too..what quests need to be done to unlock rumors/varlamore? what casues damage while hunting, etc? Will i still be 10hp after 99 hunter?
I agree. I'm a new ironman that did wt first. only 1k total xp. last four days I just started my hunter grind at 32 at novice and currently at 62 now at adept. I waited till I unlocked fairy rings to do this. which btw if fairy rings are not unlocked this method is pointless. Ive done almost 50 rumors and the only thing beneficial would be the food and herbs for herblore. I still think for early levels that wintertodt and temporos to 82 are far better choices
50 woodcutting for magic logs is a none issue, you already have 50 woodcutting just by getting enough logs to burn to unlock wintertodt todt still better to do first to atleast 85 fm and id argue tempoross is still better than this second considering you cant even do half the hunter stuff early game
Awesome video, great points. The amount of resources from grinding 46-99 hunter would put you straight into the early mid game. Also, obligatory drift net fishing comment.
unfortunately hunter packs won't get me 200m fm xp very quickly which I need in order to have a chance for the phoenix considering I did wt solos until I was over drop rate dry (based on calculated total loot rolls). Now I'm going for wt on mass worlds and I guess we'll see if I go kc dry for wt (given each kc is *at least* 2 rolls, going for 2500kc at wt would guarantee being above drop rate for phoenix.)
Thats what im wondering. What quests need done for varlamore hunter rumors? What agility level do i need to make it worthwhile? will i still be 10 hp when done?
Amazing content man, just found your channel. But what about both? Doing WT until like 80 FM and 200k cash and then get some hp/cb stats and teleports in the game, and then grind hunter until 90-99? Best of both worlds?
Its because you knock out a useless skill straight up when its absolutely optimal to do so. Doing WT with cakes is far better than coming back later and having to use brews or some shit for solos. The fact that you thought it was entirely based on rewards shows your complete lack of game knowledge - especially for iron/uim modes. Also birdhouses are far more efficient for any account because you just flat out skip all the horrible hunter methods (everything up until chins basically) plus giving you the much needed early tree seeds and long term birds nests (far more than rumours) which advance the account more efficiently. Early game food is NEVER a problem. By time wines aren't cutting it anymore, you're either high enough to use the warriors guild shop or you'd just use the brimhaven food shop for any quest boss. Doing hunter first also has the insane issue of having low agility, no teleports around the game to actually get to rumours in ideal positions. Now that I keep thinking about it, it really shows that you DIDN'T think about this for more than a second at all.
Someone explain to me why the game won't let me hold multiple crates at a time. I just don't do winter anymore simply because they won't give me the rewards
You can always do rumors - The pitfall trap rumors especially will benefit from higher HP You can't always do Wintertodt (at least you would be stupid for delaying after leveling hitpoints) Also... the Tome of Fire is likely the main the reason most ironmen grind Wintertodt until 99 - It is equip-able fire runes for your Iban's Staff
I see some issues that you didn’t even mention in this vid. For what do I need avantoe / irit / snapdragon etc with herb 1? What I love about WT it boost me through the early lvls of herb. How do I teleport to do the different locations? For WT I just need to go there one time Rumors are great, but not great for early content.
Yeah I'm about to be playing a new iron honestly. Prob just afk to Max the main ironman cuz all this new content makes ironman so much more fun early game
The tecu salamander is 5 tick on melee/magic and 4 tick on range. Its definitely not a whip, msb, and warped sceptre all in one. It's great for tricking pvp bots tho
I never seen a guide saying go to Wintertodt right away. Maybe it's because my favourite part of the game is the early game progression, working my way up through bronze, iron, steel, and mithril. Feeling powerful when I first get rune, and make my first 100k when it actually means something. I'm assuming these guides are trying to teach people to skip that part? I suppose for an alt it might make sense to rush, but that feels sad to me.
You could utilize the pseudo-block system in place. Just utilize the fact you can't be assigned the same thing from 2 different Hunter Masters. Just have a bunch assign you the pitfalls and never touch them again until you need to rearrange the list.
It's a runelite plugin called "Teleport maps" which changes the interface for some of the transportation systems like fossil island, spirit tree, wildy obelisk and few others.
No uploads for 10 days, was too busy enjoying Varlamore but then realised I need to pay rent so we back babeeee
Lmao!🤣
@KriibusRS just so you know, you can't start moonlight moths at 75 and you can't start Herbiboar at 80, because master rumours only start at 91
Not sure if I missed it, but the other benefit is unlocking drag imps for an early glory.

todt still better to do first to atleast 85 fm and id argue tempoross is still better than this second considering you cant even do half the hunter stuff early game
So make an Ironman guide for new hunter accounts
Thats what im wondering. What quests need done for varlamore hunter rumors? What agility level do i need to make it worthwhile? will i still be 10 hp when done?
With all those herbs from huntertodt, I can see herb run profits go down.
I think doing WT to 75 then doing this would be ideal. 75 for DT2 then the logs from rumors for fletching
Funny, just before Varlamore update I got 99 firewalling and after the update I'm trying to 99 hunter (currently at 96).
At First Light is not required for hunter rumors, only master tier
An amazing video! Love the Hearthstone sountrack!
I wish I had access to this when I was starting out my iron
Wait wtf you get noted nests???? Great for uim
99 fm is the best skill in the game 😏
Someone explain to me why the game won't let me hold multiple crates at a time. I just don't do winter anymore simply because they won't give me the rewards
You can always do rumors - The pitfall trap rumors especially will benefit from higher HP
You can't always do Wintertodt (at least you would be stupid for delaying after leveling hitpoints)
Also... the Tome of Fire is likely the main the reason most ironmen grind Wintertodt until 99 - It is equip-able fire runes for your Iban's Staff
I have 35 HP and started a week ago, is it bad for me to do Wintertodt now?
Just do both ?
The point of doing wintertodt first is to get firemaking done before training hitpoints. This doesn't really change that.
Important Note: At First Light is not required to access the Hunter Guild. It is only required to use Master Rumors. :)
i like the idea but good luck getting around gilenor early game on an iron
Liked, commented and subscribed for the algo-boost. Good content bud!
"Do this stupidly ridiculous grind to bot do a massively less ridiculous grind" hunter will never be good
Not*
Well made video and great update!
Yes but can you do rumors without any quest req's? can you get 99 doing rumors at 10 hp then go to wintertodt?
I see some issues that you didn’t even mention in this vid.
For what do I need avantoe / irit / snapdragon etc with herb 1?
What I love about WT it boost me through the early lvls of herb.
How do I teleport to do the different locations?
For WT I just need to go there one time
Rumors are great, but not great for early content.
Awesome video bro
Yeah I'm about to be playing a new iron honestly. Prob just afk to Max the main ironman cuz all this new content makes ironman so much more fun early game
Okay but there’s this elite clue step… (Jagex why did you do this to me)
What about UIMs?
The only downside is the extreme increase of dmg taken at WT with higher hp. Rumour's actually benefit from higher hp with certain hunts.
Fantastic video. Was never a fan of WT grind early on.
Not only supplies its cause at 10 hp its much better then at 99 hp there
why not: unlock bird runs -> low lvl solo WT -> quest -> hunter rumoure :D
i was gonna sub but then you did that kiss thing and youre off the team now
Big sloppy kiss for you, mwahhhh
The tecu salamander is 5 tick on melee/magic and 4 tick on range. Its definitely not a whip, msb, and warped sceptre all in one. It's great for tricking pvp bots tho
I never seen a guide saying go to Wintertodt right away.
Maybe it's because my favourite part of the game is the early game progression, working my way up through bronze, iron, steel, and mithril. Feeling powerful when I first get rune, and make my first 100k when it actually means something.
I'm assuming these guides are trying to teach people to skip that part? I suppose for an alt it might make sense to rush, but that feels sad to me.
or just do both :D
Can't argue against that
Do wt, bank crates, do rumors after witches house for hp to not get killed by antelope at deadfall
doing wintertodt after 10 hp is gnna suck, getting hit by npc from the deadfall traps gl on hc's
just use better food its legit the same.
they can make a hunters outfit with the furs and it will make them do 0 damage
You could utilize the pseudo-block system in place. Just utilize the fact you can't be assigned the same thing from 2 different Hunter Masters. Just have a bunch assign you the pitfalls and never touch them again until you need to rearrange the list.
I'm 99 hp. Did 99 fming last week and burned through a couple hundred monkfish j had laying around in the bank.
@@cloudliss7346really??
This makes iron mode sound much more fun
I had to subscribe after that smooch
Whats up with the map for mushroom transporation thingy? All I get is ugly text choices.
Its part of a Runelite plugin called Teleport Maps. You can find it in the plugin hub
Probably a rune lite plug in
It's a runelite plugin called "Teleport maps" which changes the interface for some of the transportation systems like fossil island, spirit tree, wildy obelisk and few others.
@@KriibusRS nice! Thank you!
also biggest benefit, is to able to catch all imps.
