Confused? I'm talking about this old playlist: • Let's Play realMYST
Before I finish the remake, this video will serve as a project update since I haven't posted anything in a while.
After I finish the remake, this video will serve as sort of a "making of" video for anyone that's curious.

There's another reason for doing projects like this that I didn't mention in the video.
Building stuff like this is FUN. It's like working on a Super Mega Puzzle that's even more satisfying to solve than a normal adventure game puzzle.
It will be fun to watch as well I'm sure, especially while enveloped by the sweet aura of nostalgia!
Can't help but think this is also, in part, to troll people eagerly awaiting something similar for Riven.

I hope you continue the "Let's Fly around realMYST" series. It would be interesting to see what it is like to go into the tunnels in the Stoneship Age when they are flooded.
Your original playthrough of the game is some of my most nostalgic content on this website. It’ll be great to see it remade and remastered!
I'm fairly certain that old realMYST LP was actually my introduction to Let's Plays, so it has always been one of my favorites. And it's also one of the few Let's Plays that I've watched multiple times. I look forward to seeing your 10th anniversary version of it.
21:05 One of my favorite videos with funny subtitles is the Swedish Chef Pöpcørn video from the Muppets. I think you'll be fine as long as people can switch to auto-generated/accurate subtitles if they need/want to.
Dude. Your videos are THE SHIT. Specifically, the Myst III Exile videos, which I've blown the last four evenings watching.
Yours is commentary / monologue I can actually listen to, and I love the pragmatism, math, and general thorough demeanor with respect to the problem-solving. ANY chance you're keen on doing Myst IV and V...? One can dream.

Maybe. But y'know eedo, if I had a copy of Starry Expanse in beta I could also script out a Cue video of Riven before the game even comes out.

Heh, well I did always have to match the last frame of one recording with the first frame of the next one, if that counts.

I really like your mindset about precision and conservation to have the best quality of your work. I know by myself how hard it can be to preserve and reconstruct old material in audio and video. But I do have one question, why is the video quality so Low in the new Version if you Walk down the metal floors of the mechanic Age. Is this through some conversion by RUclips or is this already Happening in the Game? Congrats and I wish you all the stamina what is needed for this project!
Mind giving me a timestamp to look at? I'm only on my phone so I can't properly check the high quality settings, but maybe I can still see what you're talking about.
Sometimes it takes a while for the higher settings to process, and in the meantime it looks blurry. The copy I uploaded from my local looked fine.
shadyparadox Yeah your right. I thought your Face cam has just Not that high Resolution, but now everything is Looking sharp and Crisp. Damn now I have to watch the whole Video again to See the real differences your talking about. ;)

A lot of people have asked about that, as you could probably figure. The next time I make an update video like this one, I'll address it.

In the Mechanical Age, you don't need to go to both islands. If you know two of the symbols, the other two can be brute-forced in less than a minute.
Even if you don't know any of them, it could be brute-forced within an hour.

And I first followed your channel as you were doing the realMyst game in 2009! I remember being in my college dorm room and excited when the next video went up. Amazing it's been that long.
I cut my hair in May, so this is the only time I've appeared on this channel since then.
I have ideas on how to try to bring the old magic back. I'll make another update video detailing that once I get the new content up.

Did you remove the ponytail as well in order to look more like the "10 years ago you" who was trapped in the book in one of the latest parts?
Jokes aside I did take a TB to the realmyst lp and exile lp not too long ago, so would be really interesting to see the new version :)
I also did notice the amount of um's in the original one, from the clip you showed there might be less (?)
I did remove some of the ums, yes. A lot of those were just me being uncertain of what I was doing but also a bit on purpose to make it sound a little less planned than it actually was.
But it was a bit excessive so I'm removing some of them, as you can tell from the subtitles. However, I can't remove all of them as some were in the flow of speech, and besides, having a few isn't too bad.
