I'm pretty sure the reason why he gets mad at the picture is because the engine still shoots a bullet that's just invisible and does no damage so he still sees it like you shooting it
Actually, the camera doesn't shot any bullets (it spends "ammo" but doesn't shot anything). However, the camera is, in terms of Havok mechanics, a weapon. Hence, it uses a "firing animation" to ensure the spending of the "ammo" and for general usability. So, that's why the Private gets upset. 'Cause the Courier is actually "shooting" the memorial.
It’s kinda poetic that the same year the First Battle of Hoover Dam happened was also the same year that the Lone Wanderer stopped the Enclave in DC as well as the bicentennial year of the Great War itself. It almost like these events all marked the end of one era and the start of something new. Sure enough, four years later the Courier steps in to make a decision that will change life as many know it in the Mojave, and six years after that a pre-war survivor will be the only one to emerge from Vault 101.
You're close with the latter, the lone wanderer leaves vault 101 in 2277 which was the centennial of the great war and when the other stuff mentioned happened. Then in 2281 aka 4 years after the centennial and first battle of hoover dam, that's when Courier Six comes along and changes the face of history for the west/mid West with the second battle of hoover dam.
For those curious, the camera sets him off because, internally, it works by firing an invisible, 0-damage projectile so it registers as you shooting the memorial
Interesting how 100 deaths in a battle would be seen as a lot in the wasteland, or in the past. How many epic battles in legends were thought of as huge at their time, but were actually like this.
My evil characters dont care how many sacrifices were made, its a hunk of worthless stone to them. On the other hand My good characters respect the memorial and the many lives lost to ensure victory
Just shooting him is a waste of a playthrough, you shoot the memorial from far away, fast travel to wherever you want and just wait for him to appear while you’re doing something completely different.
Yeah I don’t why Reddit seems to hate the NCR so much. I personally find them a to be a little too generic for my liking, but it’s impossible to deny that it’s citizens have the highest standard of living out of any place in the wasteland (except maybe the Institute).
@@samueltitone5683"Cause taxes are bad" Not realizing thats the only reason why the NCR citizens are doing soooo much better than everyone else. Also they have the most quests and lore.
@@alexevans3498not really. Most independent settlements hate the NCR and caravans are way safer under Cesar's protection rather than NCR. Not every citizen is better under NCR taxes.
Honestly, I never got why so many people like to kill Kowalski. Maybe I'm too into roleplaying, but it's just sad to kill a man for sticking up for his brothers honor.

One time I shot the memorial from a long distance and Private Kowalski ran all the way to just to tell me he was upset like bro💀
I committed a war crime and desecrated the memorial of people who died in a conflict and now someone is mad at me. He is the wrong one
