LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! your videos! I have learned so much and have even started gardening a little. I look forward to your videos, thank you for all the wonderful information!
Omg this is so cute!!!! It makes my heart so happy. Truly being with my girls and my plants is my therapy. (And it ain’t free but it’s better than drugs...) I also have another fun project that I’ll be posting soon! I’m always here to help, and to celebrate little victories like OMG I HAVE A TOMATO lol 😆❤️
I see you have a medium like sand for the floor, good move. Easy to clean. I put linoleum on my coop floors and rubber mats on the floor of the nest boxes for comfort and easy cleaning. I just lifted the mats up and dumped the cedar chips into my flower gardens for mulch. The mats are carpet tiles, easy to cut.
Another great video. You showed a little bit of your chicken run with the netting on the top do you have a video that shows that in more detail? My husband and I are trying to figure out how we are going to get that all set up. I love the space that your chickens have to run we would like to try to set something up like that. Thank you so much for everything you do to help us new chicken owners LOL I know my girls are living a much better life because of all of your tips.💕💕🥰🥰. Oh, and what is the name of your automatic chicken door?
Hey! Yes I do have videos - look for “bird netting” and I do a build video of that. The automatic coop door is the Rural 365 door (by Happy Henhouse) - my video about it has the link for it if you choose to order it through me and then I make a small % of the purchase. 😇 I hope that helps!
Hi Sarah, I wanted to ask you about your roost bars. Ive also seen your other video on the upgrades you made with this coop. My coop also has those horrible skinny roost bars and my husband also added the 4 inch wide planks like you have but I noticed that on mine they wobble a little bit back and forth when the hens move around. Does your do that? I guess it might be ok but I would just think it would feel unstable to the girls.
Hi! You can choose to screw the whole bar into the coop on the two sides so that it won’t move. I screwed in the top roosts but mine wiggle too. You can keep them as-is and the chickens will be ok, and it will be easier for you to take them out to clean OR you can screw them in for a more permanent solution. Either way works! ✌🏼❤️🐓
@@realsimplemama Thanks Sarah, Ive decided to just leave them the way they are. I want to be able to take them out to clean if I need to. If your chickens arent bothered by the wobble, then its good enough for mine too LOL
Love your videos. They’re very helpful to new chick mama’s. How do you get your girls to get in the pool? I’ve tried just about every kind of container for a pool and they refuse to get in. Ive tried bricks too. Its been in the hundreds for a week now. Poor babies. I had an air conditioner in their coop last summer and they loved it. Now they’re afraid of it. Yea, they’re goofy! Lol
Hi! I’m honestly glad you don’t have the AC, there’s such a risk of fires and electrical issues. Put stones in so they can hop from rock to rock and not feel like they’re “getting in the pool.” (The rocks also soak up the water and stay cool.) And throwing a non messy snack like sunflower seeds helps encourage them!
real simple mama I only had it on when I’m out in their run or in my garden & always leave it unplugged. I guess, Hubby is getting an air conditioner for his shop, lol. I tried the bricks, rocks. They still don’t like it. Oh well, I think I’ll get the mister. The sprinkler I had been using is using too much water but hey, its cheaper than the pg&e bill for the air conditioner, HA HA! Thx for the response.
Hi! Honestly I don’t remember. I have showed it in older videos but it’s just an outdoor waterproof sealant. We just asked the hardware store and they recommended stuff to us. And it wasn’t expensive!
I always look forward to your videos thanks
Thanks for your tips
Chickens boyfriends😅👋your hilarious👍❤

You are doing a fantastic job with your girls.
I’m trying!
Thinking of you too my friend. ❤️❤️❤️
Doing a great job with functionality and aesthetics... Enjoying your work and vids... : )
Lol thank you! We are so happy with the space but my mind is always running with what we can do next...!
Hey Sara, Is your sun sign Aquarius?
Under the house you could put grass clippings. Cooling for the girls.

You could mulch and cover the dirt.
What was the sealant that you used on the outside of the coop and the roost bars?

Hi Sarah what times pm and am are your door opening and shutting many thanks
Hi! We are in south Texas (CST) so we have it at about 7:15am, and 8:50pm.
Remember that you need to adjust it based on when your flock wakes up and goes to bed, and also the time of year/length of days.
