Wingless 911, this one will age so well 20 years later.
best looking 911 so far. that rear wing delete makes it soooo elegant
i personally think that no modern 911 can beat the looks of pre 1997 Porsches, but this one indeed looks really nice.
defenitely the best choice for a new Porsche (if u can afford it)
Well said!!! Makes it timeless as well
Emmm for me 991 was a lot better, I really dont Luke 992 generation
@@xXTommyXx 992 also looks sick for me. that full-length tail light is amazing
@@manudelsolk20 I dont Like IT 😅 but you know this is my opinion 😄 if you like, good for you, enjoy 😁
Get the GT3. No question.
Selling the other cars and getting a GT3 makes so much sense IMO. Go for it!
Funny you uploaded it exactly when the 992.2 videos released, Analog Tacho, a mostly button oriented console, a 9000RPM engine coupled with a manual to keep you entertained.. Lovely time in motorisation we will not to back to again...
I agree with you on all points. While I don’t own a GT3, my 21 911 C2S with a manual is a lovely ride.
The new one is the same.
Wild that as you’re shifting into third you’re already at 80mph and climbing. Almost makes you wish they were a little less quick.
It’s also because of the high gearing I think, Porsche likes to make their GT cars have stupidly high gears
@@salvi1398You wouldn’t want the gearing any shorter with this engine. It has enough power to get through the gears very quickly. The gearing isn’t even that short either, if you consider the fact that you’re hitting 9000rpm to reach 80mph in 2nd gear. In most other cars those exact gear ratios would have you redlining 2nd at 60 mph lol. That being said, the GT4/Spyder does benefit from shorter gearing.
@@Ben-bg2eg still not short enough tho as it has to be lesser than a 911. and hence deman regear.
Naturally aspirated flat 6 revving to 9,000 rpm, great sound, manual, refinery of Porsche. As a pure driver’s sports car, I don’t think it gets any better than this.
There is no other answer possible: GT3 with the manual gearbox.
This sound will appear in my sweet dream this night.I am sure.Thank you and greetings from Germany
Da hast du absolut recht meister
Get the 911 under one condition: make lots of videos driving it for us :D
And in different locations. I'm getting tired of these same roads lol
Yes 6MT too not that auto bullshit. And put mileage on it let’s see what that Porsche reliability is all about. Not ppf the whole car and let it spend its time in a garage minus the occasional dinner date and cars and coffee
Oh my goodness, that section for a few minutes after 13:30 is absolute perfection. It was as if the world just melted away
man see porsche. man happy.
the way you drive and shift is so fluid and smooth
Consolidate! The GX and the GT3 is the perfect two car garage
This is the perfect 911 for me. No huge, awkward looking wing, no crazy aero that I will never need, no over the top design that attracts attention. Just a high performing car that can also be used as a daily driver .
I'm a bit late to this, but to answer your question at the end of your video, I consolidated and bought a .2 GT3 manual. Best decision I've made in a looong time.
I agree with you, the 991 and 997's are the best looking water-cooled cars. The 991.2 GT3 Touring is THE Dream car.
This might be my favorite video you’ve ever done. Pure bliss and so satisfying. I can listen to that soundtrack all day.
I have a 991.2 Touring and a 993. The Touring is the best driving car I've ever owned and I could be content having it as my main sports car and occasional daily driver. It's surprisingly comfortable and has been very reliable and the engine/exhaust/transmission is top tier. That said, I'd miss not having the air-cooled car. Just a unique look and experience with those and it's a pain to later try to replace a dialed in and well maintained a/c car.
Another thing - the 991.2 Tourings come with a pretty conservative set up from factory and respond well to a more aggressive alignment (neg camber + slight front toe out) and drop in ride height on the OEM adjustable coilovers. The sway bars have three different settings and adjusting the front to the softest setting made a nice difference. Doing all that dialed out any remaining understeering and sharpened the handling quite a bit.
I've consider trading in the 991.2 on a 992 Touring, but I can't justify paying an additional $50k for the privilege. Either way, I don't see myself ever NOT having a Touring in the garage moving forward one way or another. Damn near perfect cars.
Well said. Have a voodoo blue touring. Best car I’ve owned
Ted! Get the GT3! It’s a beautiful car, you have experienced the other cars for a long time! You won’t lose more money too. Enjoy it. Simplify life!
Gotta love that 9000rpm sound 🔥🔥
Timeless design. Will look great 20 years from now and beyond. Also, this is about where interior screens and infotainment hit their peak. Still lots of physical controls and no giant tablet bolted to the dash.
This is basically the perfect spec if you want to daily a GT3. I do kinda miss the subsecond clock... it's a small detail, but I feel like it really completes the interior. Absolute dream car this, I'd 100% choose this over the 992 Touring
It is really a blessing to have a manual modern Porsche these days and such details as analog dash gauges give it more authenticity!
The 911 GT3 Touring (be it 991.2 or 992.1) is my favorite 911. About changes you mention, it’s amazing to what extent Porsche 911 enthusiasts (at times even some so called purists) complain about changes - whatever they concern : air cooled to water cooled, manual to PDK only, hydraulic assisted steering to electric assisted, etc. Then after a while, not only are most of these changes accepted, but they suddenly become the best things Porsche has ever done 😂
I'm happy you had a traffic free exit ramp for the video. What a treat for you and for us!
absolutely without a doubt the best sound engine I've ever heard
Your shifts are butter man
My ultimate dream car! Getting the exact spec in a couple years and will drive it until the day I die. Thanks for the great review!
Bought one last year in Crayon with PCCB and 918-seats!! I love it and I will keep it for a loooong time!!
This. This is the dream car.
The best car ever made.
Gt3 is king! But like the winged version more
i’ve never been a Porsche guy until i drove a couple Boxsters a while ago and LOVED them. anyways, that got me into Porsches, and that eventually made me realize the “911” my neighbor has parked on the street most of the time is in fact a 2018 991.2 Touring. it’s so sexy 😭
Live your life, stack those miles!
This car is so fun. Loved my short 2 weeks with one in pretty much the same spec except carbon buckets a few summers ago. What an awesome time, thanks for bringing all the feels back to me! The sounds are always epic, but that manual....it's the best part! Hope you're well! :)
I love your E39 M5 (it’s how I discovered your channel back in 2018) and your old 911 - but a GT3 Touring with a GX460 sounds like the perfect 2 car solution, and would definitely be my choice.
I went down to the 2 car (daily+weekend monster) solution as well. Highly recommend.
Easier to maintain, less insurance, and yet every drive still remains an occasion
New subscriber here, loving the POV style and the chill, relaxed vibe. I’m also a Porsche fan, so appreciated this video specifically a little more too!
BUY THE PORSCHE, THIS CAR SUITS YOU NO OTHER HAVEN’T SEEN YOU THIS PASSIONATE AND EXCITED ABOUT A CAR LIKE THIS
17:59 i say go for it. New England roads say otherwise 😅Gt3’s hold value well long term. This along with the gx would be awesome. Nice drive bro 🙂
15:42 love that you blurred the speed to have a bit of fun 😂
Always a good day when tedward posts 🎉🎉
That engine sings. New technologies can be impressive, but this one speaks to me.
Simply wonderful, thanks for bringing us along tedward
Waltham is such an interesting city. You can get amazing cars like this 911 here and also find one of the darkest abandoned spots called the Fernald center.
I agree with you. This is also my fave. 911. But I would also include the 911 R. I like to own just one weekend sports car and a Corolla for a daily driver.
Beautiful. I love that TR6 you drove, very classy!! My dream is to have a tr6 one day. Maybe soon.
Hands down my favourite modern 911 generation.
As someone who always claims they'd pick some colourful paintjob for a sports car 100% of the time and only recently had their black car phase, I think this spec is just perfect and I'm pretty sure it's because of the wheel colour choice. Good job to whoever made that config. Red brake calipers and stitching tie this car together like no other colour would (maybe besides yellow, but then I think it would feel way more sporty rather than classy).
I don't know man, I would definitely keep the 911 due to it's sentimental value for you afaik. E39 is also a fantastic piece of automotive history, but I don't think that the M5 and the GX would get you this, and while daily driving the GT3 Touring is doable, I don't think it's smart considering how many miles you put on your daily.
Look at it from a different perspective. Are you going to get a house at a reasonable price on today's house market? Exactly. Might as well sell the M5 and the GX and pull the trigger on this one. 😅
Beautiful car...dream car quite frankly with that manual to boot.
What a car. 70mph on 2nd gear is crazy
After seeing the complexity nightmare that is the 992.2, this is a breath of fresh air.
Love it!! ♥️
Thanks for sharing the experience tedward!!
IMO having less cars is the way to go. I'm in the process of going from 3 to 2. Personally I want both cars to still be fun, so I'm going manual E92 M3 and an F85 X5M, but I get wanting to prioritize reliability. You do a lot more miles than I do. Life is so busy, driving/storing/maintaining a bunch of cars just seems less worth it as you get older.
Frankly can't even imagine owning multiple cars. Cars cost way too much to do that.
Men see gt3. Men click. Men happy
OMG what a lovely manual GT3 woohoo ❤
Love from Toronto, Ontario 🇨🇦 ❤️
Its always a good day when Tedward Uploads! Any RS4/S4 B5 content coming up in the future?
Like the modern gt3 of NFs most wanted this is so beautiful!!!
Get it!!!!! You only have one life, man. Go for it!👍😎
You should clarify at 6:00 that the *991.2 touring only comes with 6 speed manual, the 992.1 GT3 Touring comes with either manual or PDK.
GORGEOUS
Interesting call here on the gt3. In your position, I would have no problem selling the other cars, but the 88 911 would be difficult to part with. If you clould swing this with the aircooled, that would be the ticket! 👌
good morning tedward!
Good Morning!
doing 80mph at the top of 2nd means the redline is gonna be an occasion for most owners, I would imagine. Unless of course you live near a derestricted autobahn or know your way around the wide open highways in the USA. For a lot of people, like in in the UK, the redline at the top of 2nd is 10 mph over the national motorway speed limit.
Love my 991
You can only enjoy one car at a time. If you have the means to upgrade the 911, E39 and Civic, by all means do it! Call it simplifying your life … with a GT3 Touring!
As you say, Respect The Drive!
Oh man if you can get rid of some cars and be able to afford to own this car do it. You only live once, enjoy what you can and this GT3 is badass.
strong argument have the GT3 and the Lexus. Sounds perfect really.
IMO 991.2 GT3 (either winged or Touring) is peak Porsche.
gx460 and gt3 would be a top-tier two car solution
My dream car. GT3 touring every day.
Dream Car Yeah
The Best 911s are the N/A GT models whitout wings
Definitely upgrade to two cars only!
If the deployable wing doesn’t raise during driving, it looks good for sure
Get the GT3, you can always sell it later and buy 2 or 3 cheaper cars, but if you can afford it now do it and live your dream man.
Modern classic
The 991 touring will cost way more than GT3 RS in a few years, a great car which will be remembered
Dream car.
🔥🔥🔥🔥gt3
the fact that this 991.2 GT3 Touring 9.5/10 is attainable for so many enthusiasts that the 911R 10/10 left behind is incredible … a lightest spec light weighting via BBS wheels, exhaust, lithium battery and Dundon headers/power kit brings this car to an EPIC
… 11/10
200k used is achievable for majority? Dam bro can I be in your circle of friends 🤣🤣
props to porsche for making a musical instrument
God i wish you would crack the windows. The buffeting would be fine man!
Who came here after the new hybrid gts and Carrera unveiling.
Nobody. Because anyone who’s a true Porsche fan cares.
GT3 x GX and stack em!!
Dew it, keep the gx 460 thats a great anchor car, and get this gt you seemed to have the time of your life in it, and you can always get another honda down the road
Oh how I love stick shifts
11:34 - T-Rex arms 😅
While it makes sense to get the GT3, it would be sad to see the 1988 911 go.
Did you notice any subtle to-fro shifter play in 4th gear on throttle tip-in and release?
I want one. I'd get one if I had the money. But there is NO way it's better to walk out into your garage and only see this, instead of three other awesome cars at $70k each.
i would sell the rest and buy the gt3. Love porches
Sell everything and get the GT3 Touring!!
Is this aby coincidence with Porsche teasing the 2025 model with a Hybrid system? And I believe the manual removal as well... I'll miss a good stick shift transmission on future 911s if that's true.
Sell em all and buy it. lf you can get those 9000 go get em!
Yes it would be cool if they made the Dakar standard line.
So much nicer than that monster wing car!!!
IF its NOT a situation where the cars you have are bucket list cars that you will have your dead body cut up to be buried in each of them (e.g. me and my C204 C63 and eventual gen 5 Viper or currently gen 3 if i die sooner than anticipated) then 1001% get the GT3! 😂
How do you feel it compares to the 992 Gt3 touring ?
It's always been unsettling how the engine note sounds electronic from the inside.
I'd put a Remus Exhaust on it with shift kit
991 GT3 is my 2nd dream car behind a ZL1... Love this
