@@ctid107Completely wrong on all counts. That's the problem with having half-baked opinions! Fiscal union is not yet in place, but is an essential tool to bring about economic union. Political union is also not yet in place, but will follow directly on from economic union, since one big economy requires a single, federal, government to run it. The EU's unified armed forces are already up and running. So back in the real world, I report on the EU's own treaties documents and declarations, which you haven't read. Well .... guess what .... now's your chance. 1. THE EU’s FEDERAL INTENTIONS Lisbon Treaty Article 3.4: “The Union shall establish an ECONOMIC and monetary UNION whose currency is the euro.” EU Five Presidents’ Report, 2015: “Progress MUST HAPPEN on four fronts: first, towards a genuine ECONOMIC UNION that ensures each economy has the structural features to prosper within the Monetary Union. Second, towards a FINANCIAL UNION that guarantees the integrity of our currency across the Monetary Union and increases risk-sharing with the private sector. This means completing the Banking Union and accelerating the Capital Markets Completing Europe’s Economic and Monetary Union. Third, towards a FISCAL UNION that delivers both fiscal sustainability and fiscal stabilisation. And finally, towards a POLITICAL UNION that provides the foundation for all of the above through genuine democratic accountability, legitimacy and institutional strengthening.” Angela Merkel’s immediate response to the referendum result, 24th June 2016: “Today is a watershed moment for Europe, and it is a watershed moment for the EUROPEAN UNIFICATION PROCESS. There is no doubt that this is a blow to Europe, and to the EUROPEAN UNIFICATION PROCESS.” EU Rome Declaration, 25th March 2017: “Working towards COMPLETING the ECONOMIC and monetary UNION” (with a preferred deadline for completion of 2027). ECB’s ‘Fiscal Implications of the EU Recovery Package’ 2020. “The way that the EU has responded to the crisis also has implications for the future design and implementation of the EUROPEAN GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK. First, while expansionary fiscal policy is necessary to sustain the recovery, going forward it will be important for the fiscal rules to effectively support the reduction of high government debt in good economic times. Second, NGEU constitutes a new and innovative element of the EUROPEAN FISCAL FRAMEWORK. It will result in the issuance of sizeable supranational debt over the coming years, and its establishment has signalled a political readiness to design a common fiscal tool when the need arises. This innovation, while a one-off, could also imply lessons for ECONOMIC and Monetary UNION, which still lacks a PERMANENT FISCAL CAPACITY AT SUPRANATIONAL LEVEL for macroeconomic stabilisation in deep crises. The review of the ECONOMIC GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK, which was launched by the Commission in February 2020 and postponed because of the pandemic, provides a GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO INCORPORATE THESE IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS.” (NGEU stands for “Next Generation European Union”). From the EU’s own website: “Once the economic and financial crisis (of 2008/9) was overcome, the EU established a process aimed at reinforcing the architecture of EMU (ECONOMIC and monetary UNION). The process is based on the Five Presidents’ Report on Completing Europe’s Economic and Monetary Union of 2015, which focused on four main issues: • A genuine ECONOMIC UNION; • A FINANCIAL UNION; • A FISCAL UNION; • A POLITICAL UNION. These four unions are STRICTLY INTER-RELATED and would develop in parallel. The report was followed by a series of communications, proposals and measures, and the discussion is still ongoing.” In 2022 all member states reaffirmed their commitment to economic union, as part of Lisbon Treaty Article 3. 2. THE EU’S MILITARY INTENTIONS Lisbon Treaty Article 42.3: “Member states shall make civilian and MILITARY capabilities available to the Union for the implementation of the common security and defence policy, to contribute to the objectives DEFINED BY THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL.” The EU’s military headquarters is the Kortenberg Building in Brussels. The EU Global Strategy, 30th June 2016, issued exactly one week after the referendum, contains the right of the EU’s military “to act autonomously (of NATO) if and when necessary”. It will need this, because, as you should know, Lisbon Treaty Article 42 commits member states to the defence of a member under attack. So if Ukraine is still under attack when it joins the EU, it will be the EU which is at war with Russia, not NATO. The defence of Ukraine doesn’t trigger the NATO charter. On 19th February 2019 Federica Mogherini told an audience in Hamburg: “... all the way through the security spectrum, up to the military operations, because not so many know that the European Union has seventeen deployed missions and operations around the world. So, together, we are already a unique global security provider.” I checked this figure recently. It now stands at twenty-one. On 23rd April 2019 the European Council issued its Military Command and Control Structures document, outlining its military command structure over member states’ land, sea and air forces. The diagram contained within reappears on the Wikipedia page for the Kortenberg Building, above. In September 2021 Ursula Von der Leyen said this: “But what we need is the European Defence Union. In the last weeks there have been many discussions on expeditionary forces. On what type and how many we need: battlegroups or EU entry forces. This is no doubt part of the debate - and I believe it will be part of the solution. But the more fundamental issue is why this has not worked in the past. During Part 2, an EU Battlegroup-sized force carried out the Operational Plan developed by the MPCC in Part 1. Overall, 19 Member States contributed to MILEX 23.” (CSDP = Common Security and Defence Policy. MPCC = Military Planning and Conduct Capability). 3. Oh, except for Ukraine, because, as above, Lisbon Treaty Article 42 commits member states to the military aid of a member under attack. So if Ukraine is still at war upon its accession the EU will be at war with Russia. 4. Unfettered migration into Europe from North Africa and the Middle East (the free movement of people was a secret part of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, in effect since 2010, and signed between the EU and Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, the Palestine Authority, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey). “Eurocrats do not consider (migration) to be a problem, but rather as a project”: Fabrice Leggeri, former Director of the European Border and Coastguard Agency (Frontex). JRM does not know how EU customs works. Goods arriving in Rotterdam but not destined for an EU country are not checked. They do not pass the EU border and therefore do not have to comply to EU standards, they simply pass through Rotterdam on route to their final destination.
Ah, so that is how bendy bananas end up on supermarket shelves. Food products coming from Africa can land in Marseille France, if the lorry load or sea container has customs seal it can be transferred to Calais unopened .
Exactly the same as with the UK land bridge, when Ireland still transported its exports to mainland EUrope via trucks. The trucks had papers which showed that the goods were not for the UK, and so they were not checked at UK borders. It seems that Mr. Mogg, the trade expert, has never heard anything about the carnet ATA system, which is accepted by both the UK and EUrope. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATA_Carnet Example - if a Chinese exporter or UK importer wants to bring electrical products which simply do not match UK (or EU) regulations into the UK, they can put it in a container, seal the container with a piece of wire and a lead seal and hand over the ATA document to the transporter. Even if the container lands in Italy first and gets transported through 5 EU countries the content will not be checked, and if it doesn't get checked at a UK port the goods are in the UK even if the last step of the journey was through EUrope. It means nothing for the product standard!!
Indeed during the Brexit talks the EU set aside a fund of 5 billion Euro to use to fund changes required by Brexit. One major cost was new staffing and physical infrastructure at the new UK - EU border and 600 million of was spent building separate quarantine facilities in Rotterdam and Antwerp the two largest EU ports where containers from all over the globe enter and leave the EU. These involved physical infrastructure and a few hundred new Dutch and Belgian customs officers to sort and separate all goods from third parties that are destined for the UK and then these are placed in the quarantine areas (uninspected) while shippers make plans to send them onward to the UK.

The UK is no longer benefiting from this protection and the UKs own institutions are underfunded, understaffed and inexperienced. hi @liz So moggie being moggie has stated that all food entering the EU has to be checked that is technically correct but within the shipping industry you can have bonded warehouses. These are places were items can be placed when they are in transit. They are on EU soil but they are not subject to EU checks because it's moving on to a third country. So next time ask him if he understands this or not please!?
well done Liz, you had him well and truly but but butting and somehow managed to talk right through his absurd and continuous interuptions. Just when you had him on the ropes he rang the bell and ran off back to the changing room.
I used to fly regularly from a non-European country to my home city in the EU through Heathrow. Apart from the obvious security scan, UK officials never checked my luggage to see if I was importing anything illegal. This was the job of my home country customs officials. The same goes for Rotterdam. Containers in transit only undergo minimal checks. Only those for which Rotterdam is the port of entry to the Single Market go through Customs. Mogg, of course, is conflating EU goods with foreign goods that were routed through a EU port.
JRM doesn’t understand that food transported via the EU, which has origins outside the EU, isn’t subject to EU checking because it isn’t produced in or destined for the EU.
Food entering the EU and remain in the EU will be checked. Good coming into the EU then bounded for the UK won’t be checked, the F is JRM talking about?
Yes, that's right, food consumed within the EU is regulated but that passing through from outside the EU, destined for 3rd countries is not regulated & it's up to the importing country to do their own checks. So Mogg's assumption that everything entering the UK from the EU is automatically of EU standards is BS.
I just cannot cope with Rees Mogg, wilfully ignorant and arrogant. A supposed public servant, recently knighted for his supposed "service". His extravagantly paid moonlighting for billionaire astroturfers is an insult to us all.
Rees-Mogg forgets that most food for the UK is going through Rotterdam, especially if from outside the EU. Rotterdam doesn’t check that as it is not brought into the EU market.
JRM reply: I will guide Britain through these challenging times like the late Honourable James Graham Goodenough did as Captain of the HMS Victoria in the 18th. century. Of course I deserve an equal place in the history books for that.
Is he talking about cheaper food like it’s happening now. What is cheaper than it was 4 years ago? And shopping in Europe is currently much cheaper than the UK
If you've seen the comments section of GeeBeeBees, the vast majority of the clientele will believe JRM rather than admit that they might be wrong about "Brexcrement". "Our product is doubt…" a lesson JRM learned well, from Brown and Williamson Tobacco.
Mogg trying to tell a farmer & about farming would be hilarious if it wasn’t so serious, he really is a case of someone who knows very little about the subject matter is more dangerous than someone who knows nothing.
JRM is such an arrogant man who shouts over people while they're talking, and shows he has not got a clue about what harm Brexit is having. He'll never let you speak or get your point across especially he's so rude I can't listen!
"you need to let me speak", "I am letting you speak" then he immediately starts talking over her. What is the effin point of having an expert on and then not allowing them to make their points?
As he lies about it and you dont correct him , here again the reason why you (UK) need to check your imports yourself : Any load of goods coming into the EU and officialy destined to only pass through and get delievered to a 3rd country like e.g. the UK will on arrival only be checked for the basic illegal stuff (drugs , weapons, etc.). It will not be checked on its compliance with EU rules and it defintly will not and can not be checked on its compliance with the destination countries rules, because how and why would an EU customs officer even know the most recent version of those rules and who would pay for those checks?. Imagine a shipment of australian beef arriving in Rotterdam, loaded onto a lorry destined to Dover - would the dutch even check it for hormons, would they then reject it because its not allowed in the EU - no, its for the UK and only UK customs can check if its allowed to enter the UK.
UK don't want to establish own checks, because that is expensive. They also can't check their borders, because that is expensive. They even can't process immigrants, or don't want, it's too expensive. They want to deport them to Rwanda via plane, what costs millions in total. And the UK Government even wants to get rid of Human Rights for this. I only can pity the Brits for this.
The UK is being run like the household of a billionaire miser. The miser will go out and scrape roadkill of the road to feed to his/her staff while buying in expensive exotic food for themselves. They will not replace lightbulbs in the ceiling lamps until all the lightbulbs are defective in the staff quarters, but in their private rooms the lights are on 24/7. The ancient staff vehicles will get scrap parts or just go un-repaired until forced to do the minimum to get through the MOT, whilst their brand new Rolls Royce gets a daily wash and clean. Thats all these people like Rees-Mogg know about.
I thought control of the borders was important to Brexiteers. Now Jacob doesn’t want any control at all? He said illegal imports can’t be stopped anyway. He might as well put out an advert saying “all rotten food can be sent to GB now”. I hope the people of Northern Ireland realize how lucky they are.
Count Mogg is a raving free-marketeer, no borders ( except for immigrants), no restrictions or regulation, no import checks, just the free flow of goods to & from the UK without any hindrance. The poor fella didn't realise that that is what the EU offers.
JRM reply: My sincere apologies. Talking down and showing no respect to HMS servants is my first nature and rightfully so. Thank you for your understanding and continuing support for the Brexit cause.
if moggy really wants cheap food and if he is not so keen on obeying rules and regulations, may I suggest he tells people to start stealing their food in supermarkets or anywhere? isnt it the next logical step? there. brexit problems finally solved...
If a food product is imported from any other place via EU . These food products are not checked in EU it comes via Rotterdam and not checked in UK... so simple ... and he was a minister 😂
Plus if EU vendors having substandard food products wants to sent it to UK.. no checks .... are there now.. wanted to close the borders for immigration now open borders for smuggling...aaa the great brexit ..
@@edwardbernthal160 I agree the UK are responsible for their imports. But it's the EU and their supporters who sing their own praises as to how good their standards are. The problem is that standards are created centrally, but compliance is managed locally, I e 27 compliance regimens. In this case it's the EU exporting their goods of "quality" and it's the EUs reputation on the line. The UK will in the end get their act together, but it's the EUs reputation that is being damaged.
Rees Mogg went to Eton where from what I've heard, one of the things they are taught is that if you state your case with conviction and stick to your position regardless then people will follow you and come round to your way of thinking. Well .... guess what .... now's your chance.
1. THE EU’s FEDERAL INTENTIONS
Lisbon Treaty Article 3.4: “The Union shall establish an ECONOMIC and monetary UNION whose currency is the euro.”
EU Five Presidents’ Report, 2015: “Progress MUST HAPPEN on four fronts: first, towards a genuine ECONOMIC UNION that ensures each economy has the structural features to prosper within the Monetary Union. And finally, towards a POLITICAL UNION that provides the foundation for all of the above through genuine democratic accountability, legitimacy and institutional strengthening.”
Angela Merkel’s immediate response to the referendum result, 24th June 2016: “Today is a watershed moment for Europe, and it is a watershed moment for the EUROPEAN UNIFICATION PROCESS. There is no doubt that this is a blow to Europe, and to the EUROPEAN UNIFICATION PROCESS.”
EU Rome Declaration, 25th March 2017: “Working towards COMPLETING the ECONOMIC and monetary UNION” (with a preferred deadline for completion of 2027).
The process is based on the Five Presidents’ Report on Completing Europe’s Economic and Monetary Union of 2015, which focused on four main issues:
• A genuine ECONOMIC UNION;
• A FINANCIAL UNION;
• A FISCAL UNION;
• A POLITICAL UNION.
These four unions are STRICTLY INTER-RELATED and would develop in parallel. The report was followed by a series of communications, proposals and measures, and the discussion is still ongoing.”
In 2022 all member states reaffirmed their commitment to economic union, as part of Lisbon Treaty Article 3.
2. THE EU’S MILITARY INTENTIONS
Lisbon Treaty Article 42.3: “Member states shall make civilian and MILITARY capabilities available to the Union for the implementation of the common security and defence policy, to contribute to the objectives DEFINED BY THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL.”
The EU’s military headquarters is the Kortenberg Building in Brussels.
You can have the most advanced forces in the world - but if you are never prepared to use them - of what use are they?”
Last year the EU led joint military exercises in Spain. This is taken from the EU’s CSDP website: “The two-part MILEX 23 exercise commenced on 18 September and concluded on 22 October. The first part of this intense period was a 3-week planning phase by the MPCC in Brussels. In part two, this culminated in the EU’s first ever live military exercise from 16 - 22 October in Rota Naval Base, Cadiz, Spain. During Part 2, an EU Battlegroup-sized force carried out the Operational Plan developed by the MPCC in Part 1. Overall, 19 Member States contributed to MILEX 23.”
(CSDP = Common Security and Defence Policy. MPCC = Military Planning and Conduct Capability).
3. Reckless EU expansionism across Eastern Europe - widely known and reported on, including Albania (hotbed of gangsterism and corruption), Serbia and Montenegro (both traditional allies of Russia), Moldova (part of it coveted by Russia), Ukraine (currently at war with Russia), Turkey (instantly the largest, most populous and poorest country in the EU upon joining) and several others, all of which will bring nothing but a begging bowl to the EU’s table.
All this has been going on while you’ve been asleep for the last fifteen years.
@barcraialb-mx5nk Whether you like it or not, the EU keeps issuing this sh*t, and whether you like it or not, you have a right to know about it.

JRM does not know how EU customs works.
Goods arriving in Rotterdam but not destined for an EU country are not checked.
They do not pass the EU border and therefore do not have to comply to EU standards, they simply pass through Rotterdam
on route to their final destination.
Ah, so that is how bendy bananas end up on supermarket shelves. Food products coming from Africa can land in Marseille France, if the lorry load or sea container has customs seal it can be transferred to Calais unopened .
JRM reply: EU, Rotterdam. It doesn't ring a bell. Are these places somewhere in the Common Wealth?
Exactly the same as with the UK land bridge, when Ireland still transported its exports to mainland EUrope via trucks. The trucks had papers which showed that the goods were not for the UK, and so they were not checked at UK borders.
It seems that Mr. Mogg, the trade expert, has never heard anything about the carnet ATA system, which is accepted by both the UK and EUrope.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATA_Carnet
Example - if a Chinese exporter or UK importer wants to bring electrical products which simply do not match UK (or EU) regulations into the UK, they can put it in a container, seal the container with a piece of wire and a lead seal and hand over the ATA document to the transporter.

Mogg said it himself, the EU is a heavily regulated body. So the import checks on food are of the highest standards. Multiple EU organizations spread around the continent are working non-stop to block risky goods from getting in. The UK is no longer benefiting from this protection and the UKs own institutions are underfunded, understaffed and inexperienced. Him claiming the lower food standard and health risks have nothing to do with brexit is laughable.

hi @liz So moggie being moggie has stated that all food entering the EU has to be checked that is technically correct but within the shipping industry you can have bonded warehouses. What a mug, Rotterdam in this case is a transit port. They don't have to check a food container bound for the UK
Good for you Liz, nice to see you having your say in these interviews.
trying to have her say..
He needs to be right, ridiculous. No conversation, argumentation is possible with this mogg.
JRM reply: Of course, if I talk it is like God's representative on earth as the chosen one is talking directly to you. Please accept it as a fact.
So JRM wants to allow the EU perform checks to ensure that British food is safe. So much for taking back control of our borders

He's not thick, he's fully aware he's a snake oil salesmen

Funny that Mogg thinks the EU is checking UK imports, lol.
As he lies about it and you dont correct him , here again the reason why you (UK) need to check your imports yourself :
Any load of goods coming into the EU and officialy destined to only pass through and get delievered to a 3rd country like e.g. the UK will on arrival only be checked for the basic illegal stuff (drugs , weapons, etc.).
It will not be checked on its compliance with EU rules
and it defintly will not and can not be checked on its compliance with the destination countries rules, because how and why would an EU customs officer even know the most recent version of those rules and who would pay for those checks?.
@@wWvwvVWe’re being shafted by our own government.
@@thahiraf7640the EU are responsible for their exports. Unless you can find some regulation that says otherwise.
@@peterclareburt4594 and the UK are responsible for their imports, unless you can find some regulation that says otherwise.
@@peterclareburt4594 well to be fair I never heard anybody praising the UK's standards and world beating programs.
Let Liz Speak!!
Liz you have the patience of a saint.
Poor Jacob Rees Mogg , even a mule can understand better the reality.
Indeed, Count Mogg's comprehension skills, do at times appear to be that of a 5 year old.
You can have an expensive education and still have no Common Sense.
He's dim or lying. We are not part of the EU food security system so food imported is at risk.
He's a con artist
Debating Grees Smugg is like nailing a jelly to the barn door, WHY bother!.
Rees Mogg went to Eton where from what I've heard, one of the things they are taught is that if you state your case with conviction and stick to your position regardless then people will follow you and come round to your way of thinking. He will never admit that he was wrong or that he lied and mislead people. It's to be hoped that on election night we get to see him standing in front of the TV cameras as it is announced that he has lost his seat and has to stand there facing public humiliation.
I tried watching this as Liz is amazing, but Rees-Mogg is so pompous, sickly, and rude that he actually makes me feel nauseous 🤮
Jacob Rees-Smug .... no, sorry ... 'Mogg', was in good form here !
" I always admire British politician´s ability to talk BS in a very stylish way " and "There should be a separate catigory for it at the Oscars"..well i thought these comments were so very true and funny when I read them elsewhere thismorning.
What's the point of inviting someone onto your show to incessantly talk over them. This is arrogant beyond belief.
Great RUclips video by Broken News released today that absolutely sums this interview up. Worth a watch.
Fundamentally, the truth doesnt interest him, he just really loves the sound of his own voice.
Wow! Great Liz 😊👏👏👍
Well done Liz, it's good to see Rees-Mogg getting Schooled, yet again
Most supermarket block cheddar cheese is made in the Republic of Ireland from EU milk, only artisan cheddar cheese is actually made in cheddar Somerset, that JRM can afford.
The UK has plenty of water. Well, not even that is what it used to be.😪
Arguing with someone who knows farming ,and Jacob.
“Anything that makes trade more difficult makes countries poorer.” The Right Honourable Gentleman from the 18th century, 21.3.24 GB News.
He is explaining farming to a farmer.
Rees Mogg has said Britain can buy cheaper food from other countries. He doesn't want checks or any regulations.
Institute of Economic Affairs think tank territory.
One is an expert in her field and the other thinks he can wing it!
Well done Liz ❤ you stand for truth and hope
Liz, you did a great job for once to tell the truth on GB news!
But that would have meant closer tax oversight and less opportunities to make a killing from disaster capitalism. JRM and his mates would have had sad faces. 😫
We want a big rejoin march
He is trying to gaslight us.
Mogg,Everything That's Wrong with G.B !!!
Britain cannot produce enough food for its population. Yet British farmers are not growing rich?
Basic economics says they should be.
It takes a big man to admit he’s wrong and Mr Rees Mogg is not a big man
Its about time someone pointed out that the reason we have brexit is so that mogg didn't want to pay tax.
Liz you're fighting a losing battle but I wish you all the best .
I like the way you keep a steadfast position on what you beleive .
Once Labour are in govt the vet agreement will stem the flow until we rejoin the single market.
I hope so for you Liz and the English people . from the Netherlands , still your friend .@@lizwebstersbf
Heseltine would have made a better prime mister than Thatcher
As a non Brit, this is hilarious 😂!
Liz Webber 😂 Couldn’t even get your name right so how can he even be trusted with anything on a national scale?!
Is there a regulatory body that checks moggies insider trading and profiteering?
What a brass neck?
Ok, JRM - where’s my cheap food?
Talking over guests whose views he doesn't want to hear is Rees Mogg's stock in trade. Time and again, this supercilious windbag makes a fool of himself by doing this, amply demonstrating his complete inability to counter their arguments.
I just don’t trust anything that Mogg says , he is a Brexiteer and he will defend it regardless if it fact or fiction.
Liz hinted but he did not listen She said Blue Tongue was here
This exactly what we have to listen to every day Jacob has
Blue Tongue in abundance mr gobby of the air waves
Oh look it’s that GB news presenter Mogg. I wonder if he has a side hustle job in the HoC ?
I remember listening to a report many years ago on the BBC of out of date chicken being shipped to Holland, treated by being put in bleach then shipped back to the UK and sold as fresh! I have never forgotten it and I am very careful when choosing fresh chicken.
I have noticed this a lot not just with politicians but with interviewers too. I was always taught to wait till the other person has finished speaking. The end result now is the listener can't hear what either person is saying as they are both talking at the same time..... Brilliant!
