Dolly's is definitely from the heart, coming from an emotional time in her life that put her on a new path. Absolutely loved the history and her awesome performance.
Dolly is honest, not sung operatic style, like Huston, which would spawn all the American Idol wannabes that just over sing everything ,with all the whoa ,whoa, whoas ,like Christine Agulara does ,that gets on my nerves,....like ,just sing it normal, and skip all the fake scripted fake emotional crap, its disingenuos
Thank you for telling the story behind the song. Dolly agreed to join The Porter Wagoner show for five years. After having great success with the show, Dolly was ready to spread her wings and become a solo artist. Porter was not happy with Dolly's desire to leave even after seven years. He did agree she could move on after he heard this song. Unfortunately he sued Dolly for millions. After Dolly became a global superstar, Dolly heard news that Portor was having financial issues and was selling his music catalog. Dolly simply purchased the catalog, and gave it back. Dolly has a beautiful soul. You should react to "light of a clear blue morning." This was Dolly's first song written after leaving the studio for the last time. Its simply amazing.
You are telling the truth about Dolly Parton. She is truly a National Treasure, a storyteller, accomplish songwriter, with such a sweet and beautiful voice. Dolly is said to of cried after hearing Whitney Houston’s version and she said: “I never thought my little song could be so beautiful”. Few know that Dolly continues to make money anytime a talent show feature her song and a lot of money off Whitney Houston’s version of I will always love you”. Coming from a dirt poor family that lived in a house with no electricity, no running water, and only candles for light. She has always gracious with giving most recently: 100s of millions of dollars in finding a vaccine for COVID-19. I ❤️ her.
If you hear the audio only version from the album you will weep. Her voice communicates great anguish and vulnerability. Her beauty changes the song's meaning. She was so beautiful so pure. Thank you for the very best review and understanding of this song. I appreciate the history and the emotional atmosphere. BLESSINGS ✨
I have always loved Dollys versions the most. She has done some amazing live ones. It is one of very few times I think the original is almost untouchable. Whitney Houstons version is most known of course, but not my favorite. I like it more calm and peaceful. I love Angelinas rendition more than Whitneys, because she is closer to Dolly. Thank you again, Deborah, wise comments as always 💕
Dolly and Angelina's versions are very expressive and emotional. Out of the 3 that I did, Whitney's was the only one that I had listened to...a lot. Love Dolly Parton and the story behind the song and Angelina of course had a quieter approach to the song as Dolly did. Just beautiful!
Yes she does. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to visit this song, get the history of it and see the beautiful performance by Ms. Parton...wonderful experience!
Hi Deborah, WOW I totally forgot about this. I remember watching this in on TV back then. (If I remember right it was on a show called Hee Haw) I watched her sing Jolene back than too & loved those 2 songs, I think it might of been 3 songs by her at that time I liked. I was starting to get into Queen, Heart, & Aerosmith etc leaving Folk, R&B, & Old Rock etc . What a trip, how much time has passed & how the music has changed & how somethings got better & others a whole lot worse. Well God bless you sweetie & your family.
Hello My Time. I had not heard this one until I did the reaction, and what I treat this was. I love learning about why she wrote this song, her performance and how beautiful she was performing it. Knowing the reason why she wrote it gives a greater appreciation for the song.
Hello Debra, thank you for the introduction! I did not know this , I think it is so nice that you alway give that extra info and set the mood for a song. Thanks again, stay save and healthy. I great you from a sunny Netherlands
Hello Truus. Seeing Dolly sing this song and knowing the true meaning behind the lyrics really makes you understand why it was so emotional for her. Beautiful performance from Dolly.
Dolly was honored that Whitney covered it but there is really no comparison between the two. They're both equally beautiful and amazing. Whitney offers power and Dolly offers emotion
I love country music maybe because I grew up on it but when I really think about it what's the best genre for storytelling music and it's not all about the stereotypes that everyone says it's about
Not sure if you've heard the version she did with Vince Gill, but their voices are so beautiful together. Dolly and I share the same birthday, and I was born in 1974, when this song was released.
Its a slowed down version. I like it! Thank you for the history lesson on this piece. I knew she worked with Porter Wagner but had no clue she wrote it about him. He must have been floored! Great reaction!
Thank you for making the effort to learn the background of the song and share it with us. Few reactors I have seen are willing to do this, which is really pretty easy to do in the age of the internet. It adds so much to our understanding and appreciation of the song. Your analysis and commentary is also thoughtful and valuable. Keep up the good work. And can I dare to hope that if you ever react to a song in a foreign language (say, for instance, Nessun Dorma, or O Mio Babbino Caro ... or even Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto), you will read a translation of the lyrics first and let your viewers know what the song is about? As opposed to those reactors whose reaction is, "O wow, that was great even though I have no idea what he/she was singing about!" Nothing wrong with being impressed by the mere sound of a performance, of course, but I prefer people like you who also care about the meaning! I hereby subscribe, because you really do Have Something to Say. God bless!
Replying to myself ... OK, just saw your reaction to Je Suis Malade, so I see you do pay attention to foreign lyrics as well. I should have known. I'm not a native French speaker, but I think you even pronounced it correctly! Your commentary on the meaning of that song was also spot on! Everyone who sees this and hasn't seen that one should go find it right now. Kudos to you again, girl!
This is the only review of this song that I have listened to from start to finish. Your moniker says it all. You really have something to say, and you say it very well.
Thank you for the most thoughtful and eloquent reaction to this song that I have heard, and I've heard many. Most of the young reviewers are so astonished that Whitney didn't write and record this song first that they can't get past it.
Yours is the best reaction to this song I've ever heard. You took the time to understand the song's context -- which made it possible to understand and fully appreciate the lyrics. It's an unusual, maby unique, purpose for a song, and the underlying emotional impact is unique. You saw all of that, and explained to your viewers why everything about the song is beautiful. Thank you!
What i used to enjoy the most about Dolly is her album in which she signs with Kenny Rodgers. They were musically completing each other very well. Dolly has a unique spendid, brilliant and unimitable voice. I will add, especially in her high notes and touching melismas and vibrato. If you only allow yourself to put aside your bias concerning country music and focus entirely on Dolly's vocal abilities, you may fall in love with her immediately. Even with her Christmas songs!
Jacques you are so correct regarding people's impression of country music. When people hear the word 'country' music, they immediately tune out. I am one as well that never really gave it a chance. But hearing Ms. Dolly perform this beautiful song definitely gave me a different set of listening ears
I think this country could unite if they took down old confederate statues and replaced them with statues of Dolly! She’s so kind and caring, for all people! And who doesn’t love Dolly?
Well Said!! Even though it's before my time every time I hear this song, it brings tears to my eyes! She is and will always be a strong leading woman. Thank you so much for sharing this video. New scriber! Hugs and Hope you're having a great week! (okay well now that is lol Just seen this was posted back in May. I'm so sorry. I just now come across your video!)
One more fun fact , Elvis wanted to cover and release the song but that would require her to give up the publishing rights, she soundly said no.....and retained all her rights to her song
Dolly was a great human as well as a tremendous entertainer .. I. Would say she made many right business decisions with a worth of over 500 million .lol .loved your reaction
As a postscript to their story, in Porter's later years, when he was struggling and Dolly was big time, she bought the rights to all the songs he'd sold and gave them back to him.
As the old country song goes “can you make folks cry when you play and sing?” And Whitney’s version will never do that. Whitney is a circus to dolly’s Shakespeare. Both enjoyable in their own way
dolly's version hands down! she sang the song the way it's suppose to be sung, storytelling and singing TO the listener, as opposed to whitney's loud bombastic loving to hear herself and showing off singing AT the listener version....
Fantastic review. So happy you did your homework first! It really adds to the quality of the video review/reaction especially, for those who don't know Dolly. Also, Porter Waggoner wasn't the only performer Dolly said "No" too. She also told Elvis Presley "No". You can check this out here: ruclips.net/video/ifV-ExQyAn0/видео.html
I don't know if you are aware, but Lucy Thomas sings a very credible version of 'I Will Always Love You'. Here is a link to her version. ruclips.net/video/ETrbRH4F7nE/видео.html
Dolly's from the heart, Whitney a power ballad; both are great, Dolly's will always make me tear up a bit more - just gentle.
Dolly's is definitely from the heart, coming from an emotional time in her life that put her on a new path. Absolutely loved the history and her awesome performance.

Absolutely stunning beautiful singing voice and song! My heart ❤️ melts

Whitney's was strong but Dolly's was heartrending...both beautiful and stunning.
You could feel Dolly's heart in this song and it was beautiful and so was she
Beautiful reaction by a beautiful young lady
Dolly’s singing and writing is heartfelt; You feel it instantly.
(You can’t fake talent like that) She’s a nation treasure!
the original, and still the best. emotion evoking performance.....
Thank you for sharing your reaction to
'I will always love you '
It makes my heart swell.
Excellent hystorical explanation .... grettings from Costa Rica
First time I’ve really understood the words to this fabulous song, thanks to you Debra.
Scotland here love the way you understand this song. 👍👍👍👍
It impressed me that when she sings the high notes it seems effortless.
If you hear the audio only version from the album you will weep. Her voice communicates great anguish and vulnerability. Her beauty changes the song's meaning.
She was so beautiful so pure. Thank you for the very best review and understanding of this song. I appreciate the history and the emotional atmosphere. BLESSINGS ✨
My mom's favorite Dolly song. Couldn't help the tears, but thank you for the reactions. Felt good. :)
I can see why it is her favorite. Beautiful song, beautiful woman and beautiful heart
Wow! I so appreciate this review! You did your research on this and it shows! Love love love. Thank you for your review video! I really enjoyed it.

Angelina took Dolly's touching melismas and Whitney's vocal strength. She made a new song synthesis. It turned out brilliantly from Angelina.
I like that synopsis
Wonderful, smart and lovely review, as always from you, Debra😍
Thank you Stefano!
Wow! Research! May God highly favor you always.
Thank you! You too!
You broke the story down beautifully. I wish more reaction videos would have some context. Thanks!
Thank you Laura. It was such a beautiful story to be told and I loved Ms. Parton's perform. She was beautiful and the performance was from the heart.
So well done. Bless you for this. As an old E Tennesseer I remember when this happened. Thank you, thank you.
What a beautiful spirit you are and what a beautiful spirit Dolly Parton is!!!
It's so amazing to compare Dolly and Whitney. Whitney brought shear power, but Dolly was speaking to a friend. BOTH AMAZING!
Great thoughtful reaction with a story. I loved it,. Good job and thank you.
This is wonderful insight into the origins of this song. Thank you for the presentation.
I have always followed dolly Parton, and this one will always brings me to tears. She sings with feelings and brings out the emotions in the song.
Yes she does. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to visit this song, get the history of it and see the beautiful performance by Ms. Parton...wonderful experience!
And both were outstanding in their own way.

Thank you for such a fresh look at this iconic song by Dolly Parton.
This was such a beautiful performance by Ms. Dolly and learning the history behind her writing this song was extra special
Hello Debra, thank you for the introduction! I did not know this , I think it is so nice that you alway give that extra info and set the mood for a song. Thanks again, stay save and healthy. I great you from a sunny Netherlands

Class act, she's graceful
Yes! This was a beautiful performance that also showed us her heart. Loved it!
So glad to see you cover the history of this song.
This should be the example and minimum standard all "reaction" videos aspire. Thank You Debra, Beautiful.
Really nice presentation well done and as usual Dolly is terrific
I LOVE that you did your homework!!!!!! Dolly is my baby!
your voice is so soothing omg😱💓
Not sure if you've heard the version she did with Vince Gill, but their voices are so beautiful together. Dolly and I share the same birthday, and I was born in 1974, when this song was released.
I just listened to it....that was amazing! You are right. Their voices are beautiful together.
I've Got Something to Say I’ve always loved his voice and Dolly is a living legend.
That's my all time favorite version.
Its a slowed down version. I like it! Thank you for the history lesson on this piece. I knew she worked with Porter Wagner but had no clue she wrote it about him. He must have been floored! Great reaction!

excellent review and commentary on how the song came to be...well done!!👍🙂
Thank you for exposing the original version of this song. People like you have kept Dolly going for 64 years.
I looked to you the exact 'I hope life treats you right' moment you looked at the camera and I felt amazing :D
Thanks for the lovely reaction! x
*kind
I read she wrote this and Jolene in the same night.. not bad.
She's another super talent and going into this, I had no idea how much I was going to love this song and performance..simply beautiful!
Whitney sang it to the world, Dolly sang it to me!
What i used to enjoy the most about Dolly is her album in which she signs with Kenny Rodgers. They were musically completing each other very well.

Whitney's version was mind blowing. Dolly's was heartfelt.
Dolly Parton said that Whitney Houston couldn't have gave her a higher compliment than singing her song. She absolutely adored Whitney.
Thanks for telling the story. So many don't know it

Very professional and informative intro... Thank You. Made me sign up
You are so good! Your tone is so refreshing and you really did your research. Nice analysis, nice reaction.
Linda Ronstadt has a great version from 1975.
Linda Rondstadt also has 2 really good mariachi albums believe it or not. She’s got talent!
One more fun fact , Elvis wanted to cover and release the song but that would require her to give up the publishing rights, she soundly said no.....and retained all her rights to her song

thanks so much....
You picked the right version!
The song also hit the top 10 as a duet with Vince Gill.
Thank you for not chopping up the song. 💕
All you tubes need to get the album 😠 the true recording!
Both versions, Dolly and Whitney are fantastic. Whitney Houston for sure made it her own
dolly's version hands down! she sang the song the way it's suppose to be sung, storytelling and singing TO the listener, as opposed to whitney's loud bombastic loving to hear herself and showing off singing AT the listener version....
wonderful introduction
good job. tnx!
Good reaction
Dolly and Whitney both are number 1. But Dolly has more heart and soul. That's my opinion
More classics...more views
Dolly Parton has made over $40 Million USD just from the royalties (Google it) from her song
well said
Fantastic review. So happy you did your homework first! It really adds to the quality of the video review/reaction especially, for those who don't know Dolly. Actually..did you know dolly REFUSED to sell this to another artist who really wanted it badly....it could've ended up with ELVIS

1974......not 1972
Dolly did it better.
Not really, but she is amazing.

Whitney's is better
