From California Thank you for your clarity 👏🏽. I really got addicted to making these. I found the vinyl super cheap by purchasing inexpensive shower curtains, and clear table cover rolls. I even like the frosted curtains and the frosted theme print curtains. You can still see what’s in the bag. Wish I knew how to add pictures to show you ❤
Now those shower curtains are a fabulous idea! I would love to see. I don't know how to add pics either. You could email them tho, curlygirlcrafter@gmail.com
Thank you for showing how to make a project bag. I am glad that you showed how to sew the vinyl and binding. I’m a visual learner and your video has certainly helped me. 😊
Thank you so much for your easy to follow and well explained tutorial😊. Always wanted to make a bag using vinyl but was so intimidated but you have given me the confidence to try this. Blessings from South Africa 🇿🇦
There are so many comments or I'd just read thru them to see if someone has already ask where the fabric came from. I ABSOLUTELY love it and your tutorial
If you type in “Find mushroom fabric” into Google or Safari, lots of mushroom fabric will pop up. (I just did it and loved what I saw). You can do this for anything at all…… Daisy fabric, Robin fabric……the world is your fabric oyster with WWW. Good luck.
I have done several pouches but never quilting in the back. THanks to have shown me how to do that, it's a good tip 👍👍❤ On the other hand, I wonder if it's a good thing to start many cross stitches project in the same time. Usually, I finish a cross stitch project before starting another. I wonder if I try to do several or not.... What is your opinion about that ?
Project bags are like potato chips.....I can't make just one. Problem is that I didn't have the right vinyl so I made one from some vinyl mesh I had from another project and that worked. I wanted to make another one so I made one using a vacuum sealer bag. I didn't separate the layers of the bag and I had no problem sewing either project bag. It will be interesting to see how they hold up and I'm contemplating making a third bag. Thank you for the great tutorial.
What is the finished size for the tutorial. I’m needing a bigger size like 14x 14 any suggestions please! Thanks for the tutorial it’s an inspiration to finally do one!
12.5"x 10" is the finished size. I explain in the video how to increase your size, just add the inches to all pieces of fabric that you increase it by. Good luck and have fun! They are addicting to make.
This makes it so much easyier . Even better if you do the zip with the fold both sides becomes a zipperty do done zip with out the extra expense . Wish i see this before i made mine but think i will make a couple of large ones now . Thankyou
Oct. 2. This tutorial was awesome in that it made making the bag so easy/simple. I will definitely be making a few. They will make a great gift for my sewing friends. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding video! While I absolutely hate sewing, your video with honest comments and tips is encouraging me to give us a shot. I love your videos, and so thrilled that you posted this.
Bonnie, I love this tutorial. It was by far the easiest, simplest, direct and straight to the point instruction of a project bag I have ever seen. You have inspired me to make one now! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Very easy to understand and follow along! Can’t wait to get started. Also, I so enjoy you and Madison’s Flosstube and can’t wait to watch when you post. Keep them coming and happy stitching 😊
I like by Annies vinyl. Many places carry her vinyl. Just do a google search and you will get several options of where to buy from :) I do not know the weight of her vinyl.
This was a great tutorial and I feel confident I can try making one! I am curious about the vinyl. Months ago I bought a yard of vinyl from Joanns. I got it from their home decor fabric section. Now I am wondering if that's the wrong kind of vinyl? Does vinyl differ? What should I look to buy?
I do not know if it is different or not! I use by Annie's vinyl and am very happy with it. That is all I have ever used so I can not give any feed back on other vinyls. YES, you can make one!
I found you a month ago and I just finished your project bag...it is not perfect but it zips and has no holes so that's okay it's for me ...thanks for your instructions...
It was very helpful...love watching u and your daughter enjoying your cross stitch...I did more stitching more than 20 years and am interested again going to try again...Oh I'm from Virginia
So glad I found your tutorial! Today I was trying to find a way to contain a half used layer cake (10"x10" selection of 42 fabrics) and this will work perfectly. I'll also use for quilting WIPs and stitchy projects now that I see how easy and affordable these are to make. Thanks so much!
I like how you quilted the back. I make my bags very similar except I insert the vinyl and sew it to the folded fabric first then add the zipper. So cute! Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Thank you so much was actually fun to make. Your instructions were wonderful. I finally made one after watching your video a while back. Thanks again.
The best and most clear tutorial on vinyl project bags that I have found!! And I have watched quite a few in my desperate attempt to make a vinyl pouch☺☺Thank you very much for this fantastic tutorial, I shall definitely make one now!!🤩
Love this and the clear and easy instructions!! Two questions: 1) where is the cute mushy fabric from? 2) what stitch length do you use when sewing with vinyl?
I tried to find the mushroom fabric company, but I do not remember who it was and it has been in my stash a bit. I am sorry! I use stitch length of 2.5 for the vinyl. My machine does not have a problem with it at all. If you get to much drag increase it to 3 or 3.5.
Appreciate your tutorial! Inspired me to pull fabrics to make a few. You made that look so easy. Can you tell me the brand of ‘stiff” interfacing you used? Thank you! Anne
Thank you for the great tutorial. I've always had a panic with zips. This by far is the best one I've seen. I'm definitely going to have a go. Thank you ladies.
Hey, Bonnie and Madison! I just made my first vinyl front project bag and I am so excited! Your tutorial is great. Thanks so much for sharing the process. I love your podcasts and look forward to them.
Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial. Some are so hard out there follow let alone make the projects . Your instructions make me want to make these bags. I'm going to make some today. Thank You, Thank You
Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial! So much quicker and easier than others I have made. I love using all my fun fabric scraps to make the perfect bags for my cross stitch projects!
Really enjoyed your tutorial! Agree that having clear vinyl you can see what’s in the bag without having to rummage through looking for a particular item. Will give this a try. Thanks so much!
Fun tutorial! I love your relaxed approach. That trick or using the seam ripper to coax the corners into shape is rather brilliant. I've never seen that. And thanks for leaving in the 'birds nest' comment. I thought I was the only one who had that problem!
This is the most easily understood and illustrated project bag I've found. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for watching and for your kind words!
Agree!!
It was such a treat watching this.
Love this !

I've now made 24 of these bags using this method. Really easy but she is right the corners aren't always nice. 😂

Thank you for an amazing, yet simple, project!! I just made two for my granddaughters for their coloring pages and pencils!💙
What a great use of the fun bags!

This is fabulous! Wonderful instructions. I’m going to try this! I’ve never used vinyl but will now. THSM.
It is very easy to use, just do it!
Great tutorial where do you find the vinyl where it comes on a sheet
It is by Annies vinyl. Just google it and you will get choices of where to buy.
Thank you
So stinkin cute! Will definitely make several of these. Thanks!

Awesome tutorial, I was just wondering what is inner facing? Is it more like card stock or a board?
Thank you! It comes in many different weights. It can be super thin too, for like cloths. It basically is like a lining, to give it some heft or body.
Hi there can you specify options for the vinyl material? What should I buy and is there an efficient size or economical product? 😊
I usually use byAnnies vinyl. You can purchase it at most online quilt/craft shops. Thanks for watching.
Oct. 2. This tutorial was awesome in that it made making the bag so easy/simple. I will definitely be making a few. They will make a great gift for my sewing friends. Thanks for sharing.

where is best place to get vinyl, is there a size or thickness?
I like by Annies vinyl. Many places carry her vinyl. Just do a google search and you will get several options of where to buy from :) I do not know the weight of her vinyl.
Please tell me what machine you are sewing on.
A Juki TL-2010 and I love it. It is a straight stitch only machine but it is a work horse.
