Where can I read more about the 6 different characters of a meditator. Do these characters appear in the suttas or are they rather your own interpretation. Thank you for your reply !

Hello Jonathan. The link above takes you to a list of works translated from the Pali by Bhikkhu Ñāṇamoli. The last book on the list is what you seek:
Visuddhimagga - The Path of Purification: The Classic Manual of Buddhist Doctrine and Meditation.

Chullapanthika in previous life was king and one day he along with his troops trudging through forest and got dirt all over his face. There was white clean muslin cloth in his chariot so he took the cloth and wiped his face. Buddha come to know that after wiping his face when chullapanthika saw the cloth and thought that how with the patch of dirt the white clean cloth looses its cleanliness and at that moment he had feeling of vairagya or you can say that the impermanence nature of sansara. When chullapanthika could not able to remember, buddha gave him clean cloth and after chanting one line he was told to rub corner of cloth. By the time he he chanted whole abhidhamma cloth became dirty and he got same feeling of vairagya and eventually he became Arhanta.
