This is super clever! I can even see this used to hold the plug end of cords. I'm always fishing for the plug on my tools, so a single one of these mounted with magnets would be perfect to keep the cord handy!
I really want to make that. I have so many geometry templates, triangles, curves, et cetera- and they are all balancing on this stupid little shelf. I remember the garage woodworking guy once made some sort of cam-style locking gizmo rack that was based on a logarithmic spiral, and I was hoping that I would someday come across an easier alternative. I think I just did! Thanks.
At first I was irritated that you didn't show the final project, I'm a bit impatient apparently....but I watched anyway and I'm glad I did. You sir, are a GENIUS. I'm going to go raid my daughter's collection of rubber balls I've fantasized about throwing away. THANK YOU!!
seti1024 called a "long nose pattern marker" and is sold by "fastcap". Alternatively you can use the "reach" by "Dixon" which is often sold at lowes. The reach is cheaper but doesn't have the big marker on the back.
+TabLeft Workshop I JUST bought the bouncy balls. Go figure, it's about the same price to buy 250 as it is to buy 24. I'm either going to make a massive rack or a random kid is going to have the best day ever.
Chris Duggin lol... nothing. I had considered closing it but it didn't seem to need it plus this will allow me to blow it out with the air compressor if needed. if it gets to be an issue though i will definitely add covers.
Matthew Cremona you must be the best time manager ever. You manage to watch so much you tube content and still produce great videos and unbelievable projects. Also, here's another great channel you introduced me to.
8 years later and you’re still helping people with this video. Genius idea.
Clever idea on the rubber balls. Very nice locking mechanism.
Thanks!
Genius! I was thinking it would be some kind of cam-type lock, but the rubber ball is even easier!
Thanks Anton!
Sweet little organizer! I like the way you think.
Thanks Mark!
Amazing build. Impressive mechanism for locking/unlocking the tools. Than for sharing
+Stamatis T Thank you! Thanks for watching!
I bet the rubber balls hold very well. Great job!
Jeremy McMahan yeah better than I had ever imagined honestly. Thanks for watching!
Ray you come up with some great ideas. It looks simple but the cool factor is definitely present on this one.
Thanks a lot Moy!
I already have one glued up in the shop, was going to use dowels but bouncy balls are a great idea!
Oh my god, mind blown. Great idea. I am building this over the winter in my shop.
Awesome! I use it everyday, wish I had built it years ago. Thanks for watching :)
I've seen something similar to this but I like this better. The use of the balls is a great idea
Scott
Thanks!

Very nice idea! I need to do something like that for all of my wrenches. Thanks!
Thanks Brian!
That is genius. Great idea, well executed.
Thank you!
Love how the balls act as a friction lock/cam to secure the tool in position Ray!
Mark Christopher well who doesn’t love a little ball friction 🤣
that's just brilliant, got anything for pliers, and better yet, vise grips
I love seeing the things you come up with. Great job! 😍

+TabLeft Workshop I JUST bought the bouncy balls. Go figure, it's about the same price to buy 250 as it is to buy 24. I'm either going to make a massive rack or a random kid is going to have the best day ever.
+SuperMarcoArt haha yeah I still have like 3 dozen in the garage that I need to find something to do with.
Great project.... you never have to much clamps....
Thanks! And yeah it seems like if I had 1000 clamp I would always need 1001 for the project.
Just.. brilliant..
Hi - would you say the rubber balls would be better than wooden dowels?
you are a genius
Ha! Not sure about that one, but thanks!
Awesome Idea!
Thanks Mark!
great idea
Thank you!
Do you have a written diy? Or a more explanatory version of this video?
Branden DeTemple sorry no but it's pretty straight forward loads of other people have made it, I'm sure you'll do fine.
Yes, it is great idea.
Thanks :)
Wow, great Idea. You have a new subscriber.

ffrillici79 Thank you!
Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!

nifty idea, Thanks!
Good stuff!
Thank you!
Another question. I didn't see anything on the top. What's to keep the balls from coming out while over zealously grabbing a ruler?
Chris Duggin lol... nothing. I had considered closing it but it didn't seem to need it plus this will allow me to blow it out with the air compressor if needed. if it gets to be an issue though i will definitely add covers.
Bravo! I love it!
Another great build. Where do you get all of these ideas Ray?
Thanks Ted! And most of my projects are really just guided by a lack of space, tools, or materials.
COOOOOL!
Thanks 👍👍👍
I like it.

Very Cool.

Awesome tool holder. And if you need some fun you just lift one of those balls out :)
