A naval architect told me that normal people do not need a boat larger than 38 feet. I think more than 42 feet is a bit too big unless you often sail with additional hands. Anyway, how much you sold your previous Bavaria for?
Tino, a furling main is not always a good thing in my opinion. It is always a smaller sail with less sailing shape than a regular main, on any sailboat. A full main with 3 reefs and a stack pack or cradle cover has more upside I believe. It has much less potential problems built in.. no furler to jam, better shape and sailing qualities, and it is still easy to reef, and to drop, with a stack pack. You can just blow the halyard (release it) and the stack pack collects the sail. Voile! Keep an open mind. I currently have a Bavaria 37, Exclusive 2001 with an MD2030.. a very nice responsive sailing boat and these older models were well built. I had a 2000 Bavaria Ocean 38, the center cockpit model, which was huge compared to my current boat. It had great engine access, great interior, it did not sail as well and did have a furling main.. but overall a good boat. Good luck and enjoy the search!
I do love your Videos. Very informative. Thanks. I recently upgraded to a Bavaria 36 in New Zealand 🇳🇿 . Brilliant boat. I was in part Inspired by you. I have one question. Do you know of a way to stop the bulkheads and interior walls squeeking? Seems to be noticed in the aft cabins while sleeping in a swell at anchor ⚓️. Obvious solution is find a better anchorage. But any advice will be helpful to more boat owners Cheers
I migt have a solution to your problem. Put som tape with a soft fabric surface on edges of loose panels, and dig out the caulking and recaulking these seems again, not always done well from the factory. Im planning to make a video about this in the future, i dont know when I'll get around to it, but its om my to do list. Caulking in my case is strictly fro looks, as i dont have squeaking bulkheads. But i do have squeaky floorboards. Best regards from Jarle
That 39 looks excellent. I have experience of twin and single wheels. Single wheel wins every time. I will never buy a two wheeler ever. Shaft drive is OK. Easy to deal with, not a smooth as sail drive but no problems
Hi Tino, I also have an Oceanis 393 owners version with 55 volvo penta. If you need any aditional information let me know. My previus boat was also a Bavaria 30 cruiser...
Hi Tino, Due to the Covid19 post-travel surge and the ever-increasing number of Sailing YT channels used, boat prices have been inflated, likely up to +30% or more. However, due to the current situation in Ukraine and the ripple effects on inflation in many European countries, I would expect prices would reset a bit -- at least you should be in a good position for negotiation. Do not get "in love" with a particular object. You have all-time in the world to find the right boat. You will find that the yacht brokers will see this as a wet blanket on the market that dampens the enthusiasm for boat purchases. Cheers.
Hi. I live in Israel and want to buy sailboat 35-38 feet in north Europe. What is best way. Any internet site, brokers? I have motorcycle in Europe, so I can explore many place. Thank u and enjoy your next sailboat.
Best of luck on your hunt for the "perfect " boat I ended up in a Bavaria 41. I hope you choose a different brand because you do make very detailed videos of your improvements or challenges that you might encounter, so it wold be interesting to see what a ownership of a different brand vold be like. No matter what you buy 👍👍. Best regards from Jarle
@@ted8707 thanks Ted for reassuring me of my choice, i got lucky i guess, I liked the boat and went for it, and i haven't regretted it, the only things that i need to fix is neglected maintenance or standard maintenance or if I come up with ways to incorporate some of my own creativity into the boat. However i think it would be good for me and perhaps oter's curious minds to watch Tino having a go at anchor brand for comparison. He is meticulous, honest and practical in his dealings with the problems he is facing. Have a nice weekend. Best regards from
Hej ! I just move to Denmark, I’m in kokkedal, any recommendation where to find a marina? I miss a very nice boat cause I couldn’t find a place to put it!!
Jeg har også kik på Bavaria 39, men kigger lige på lidt forskellige mærker og modeller her i løbet af foråret. D2 55 motoren er også mega lækker set i forhold til Yanmar som de fleste sejlerkanaler generelt har mange problemer med.
I guess i wold agree. I'm in a marina with two owners of Bavaria 39. I'd say that the 39 is in many ways a bigger boat than my 41, even though length over all is a little less. Best regards from Jarle
Personally I would stay with a Bavaria. Here's my 2005 BAVARIA 39 that we are very happy with. It's the perfect size for your birth too :) 12m x 4m ruclips.net/video/wTSmxmj7FL0/видео.html

Nice looking at others but After owning and sailing different boats I recon Bavaria are excellent choice 😀.

How is your search for a new boat progressing?
It seems like I have found the boat model I will buy 😊

Kan kun utrolig varmt anbefale Bavaria 39 Cruiser fantastisk båd med Volvo Penta D2 55.
