I think he has been doing standup in arenas this large for many years before he moved to the US, if you look at his DVDs or old videos. He was very very famous as a standup comedian.

I found him through the daily show and I am American, but I do like his standup comedy a bit more since he talks about his personal experiences at times and because of his take on South African politics and daily life, even for other countries in Africa I and my mom learned a lot more, it's really interesting, he's truly educating many people :"D❤❤

You can tell his natural accent has been influenced by his stay in America. There's a bit of rhoticity in his speech, for example. And some of the vowel qualities have changed, too. Very interesting

Hi Trevor Noah, my name is XJ and i would really like if you answered this message. So in about 2 months, i am going to be in grade 10 and in grade 10, i would have to do this maybe 7 to 8 months project that is personal to the student. So, for mine i wanted to do stand up comedy because i love telling jokes and being funny which is like my gig. But at the same time, i feel nervous and unsure about this idea which to do i would like to ask some questions which could help in my research process and also find some inspiration in. We have this thing in Farsi, right, where you say things like "let me die for yooouuuu" and "oh, you're my whole life" in casual conversation. You say them to a friend, and sometimes even to an acquaintance, and it's called ghorboon-sadaghe and it's a whole cultural thing. It always felt a tad forced to me - they were scripted lines that you used to be polite... until today, when I got to the end of this clip and found myself going "azizaaaaam, bemiram barat, cheghadr naaaaaze in pesar". And that's that. Trevor Noah - he's got me finally understanding my own culture lmao
