Maasai Mara Elephants

  • During our safari in Kenya, when visiting Maasai Mara, a herd of wild Elephants came up pretty close, aware about our presence but not disturbed. Later we got to see one other herd with a baby elephant chasing birds, and some elephants in a playful fight. Later in the afternoon a huge elephant, scarred by fight and with one tusk missing, walked toward us and signaled its irritation with flapping ears. Respecting the animals as we are visiters on their premises, and of course with our safety in mind, our driver started the engine and put the pedal to the metal. These beautiful animals, the African savanna elephant, are the largest existing land animals. It was amazing experience these beautiful animals close up, a memory for life.
