What a beautiful van. This one from 1967..two years my senior. A lot of these beauties were custom-made into school buses later on...and I remember being ferried to school in them. They were real nice to ride in. Thank you for this upload.
I have a 1975 O309D Bus w/ OM314 diesel and AllisonAT540 and love it but don't get to use it as much as I should as I love riding my 83 BMW R80RT. Is it still for sale? I have people asking me if I want to sell and could pass on your contact info. Seattle, WA
Sounds somewhat different from the O 309's i've used 40 years ago..yours sounds like a 5-cylinder when revved hard instead of a more rough harsh sounding 4-cylinder like OM616 often found on O 309. Maybe due the microphone or some very good tuning skills of your mechanic ?
No wonder...thought i was seeing things when there appeared 5 fuel injector lines when the the bonnet was opened. Since it's OM617 then i now wonder if there's any space where they could have used the OM617A instead..giving the heavy O 309 some much needed torque boost !

Thanks for the ride. I didn't want it to end! 50 mph is the maximum comfortable cruising speed? Still for sale?

Good catch, it had an OM617 swapped in by the previous owner.
