I watched this over two years ago as I was just starting out. I didn't have the technique nor the music theory knowledge to really take advantage of what he was showing. I've kept playing, and took a teacher, and I come back to useful videos to improve my technique. Funny thing is that Mangold has another right hand arpeggiation exercise that I pasted above my keyboard. It is a progressive exercise leading to Chopin Opus 10. Practice makes better.
Great! Thank you. It’s perfect for where I’m at with my playing......very challenging, but not too difficult. I especially like the way you first (and last) show us how it will sound at full speed, and then how to get there in slow speed. Thank you for all you do!
I will call you Master/Professor from now on! You are so good and methodical! I really appreciate your generosity in sharing your talents! Much as Gracias! 🌷😘
I used the degree numbers of the scale , 1 tru 7, and fingering numbers, 1 tru 5, to figure it out. I can moved up and back down to the tonic. Thanks for a great lesson. For me it a first time ever.
Thank you. Your lessons are really challenging and progressing on them really helps build skills. Also, I usually have to break your lessons in to smaller parts and practice them independently. Just completing one video takes weeks of practice
Hello! You have some of the best videos on RUclips in my opinion! Could you do a video with something really advanced? Like advanced chords and maybe some chord progressions?
Thanks for your awesome job, your videos are very instructive. Could you please add a PDF with the videos with the scores? That would help a lot. You could also add the support feature on RUclips and provide the PDF to the supporters. Thanks.
This was really good for my level. Now these things are pretty easy to me and sound very good, as if I really could play the piano:) I have forgotten the times when these types of arpeggios were difficult for me but it must have been only one year ago. Including one simple arpeggio exercise in my daily warm-up has helped me tremendously without even noticing it
@@MangoldProject yes please. Cover more advanced tutorials. And believe me, we will view them, so you won't be punished rather i hope you get rewarded !
Incredible lesson. This may be what I need to progress in the right direction. I'm 59 years old and started piano lessons when I was 21... Is it too late?
Congrats Anita, I also started 20 years ago, playe a few years, and then stopped because of every day's life circumstances and work. ManGoldProject is actually the channel revived the flame in me after so many years letting my keyboard get dust. It's not about becoming a virtuose, but about making yourself happy and bringing some enjoyment to your family and friends.
Actually, it's a good thing that you're learning at that age because then you will appreciate that you want to learn and it will be exciting, unlike for kids who are taught from a young age and do not get that excitement to be able to play this amazing instrument. I recently started to learn by myself solely due to interest with no one pushing me to learn. The experience along with excitement you get is unreal.
If possible can you please give tutorials on how to add more style to the right hand while arpeggiating with these patterns ?... looking forward for your reply :)
The question is, how long should I play it slowly? ... I've spent a whole 2 weeks playing it slow with slightly increased tempo and I am still struggling in higher speeds. It's like my mind still refuses the higher speeds and can't cope with my fingers. Am I doing something wrong or is Piano just not for me? ... I started learning piano in jan 2017 and unfortunately I teach myself because I can't find a good teacher and it's not a money or budget issue. It's a teacher issue. I am at an intermediate level. Luckily, I know a lot about chords, scales, inversions, stride, arpeggios but I can't put what I want together in a musical package. I am still using my LH in block chords and a very basic arpeggiation. I wish I can do this advanced arpeggiation because it's what all about making a piano to sound as a piano. Piano is really great instrument but extremely completely difficult. Or maybe it's just my lazy mind. Good explanation sir.
When you get stuck, try set your focus on parts where you are stuck. Sometimes, by simply changing the way you are looking at a pattern or technical movement completely removes difficulties. For example, in his video on Exercise 2, he says that before moving your thumb, you should consider your hand position as a simple arpeggio on CMaj. So instead of focusing on individual notes, your mind can focus on a group of notes that you already know well, and it makes the whole movement much easier. Trying yourself to focus the right way will print the right way of thinking in your mind. Do not only play mecanically, try to set your focus, and train your mind to make it used to the pattern you are playing. That's where a good teacher can help you progress faster. Learning on your own can b sometimes difficult because of such issues when no one of experience is helping you when you go astray on your learning path.
Love to see and learn your piano tutorials sir! If possible help us to play arpeggio pattern in regard to time signature like 3/4, 4/4 or any odd time signature.

Repeat ad nauseam, start slow to get the muscle memory down then gradually get faster. For additional challenge throw a bit of dynamic with the notes and add some transitioning with the right hand as you move up the octaves. Make sure to play everyday, be consistent about it and when you do play make sure it's with a goal in mind.
i agree, got the first pattern down in about 4 or 5 mins of slow practice and then it just clicks and you can go all the way up and down the keyboard without trouble (the odd mistake but practice ofc :D)
Well, late answer, but I always use index finger and thumb and I have to switch between middle and ring finger. While I play C with my ring finger, I play e.g. D, E, G# or A with my middle finger. Just find out what feels more comfortable for yourself
