How to Add MUSIC From Computer to iPhone, iPad or iPod

- If you have music on your computer and you want to transfer it to your iPhone, this is the video for you.
Transferring and adding music is a two-step process.
Step 1: Take the song from the computer and drag them onto iTunes.
You'll need iTunes to transfer to your iPhone.
If you don't have iTunes, download it here.

Step 2: Now that the song is on iTunes, connect your phone to your computer. You'll need to change a setting to be able to manually transfer songs or videos. You'll get there by clicking the iPhone icon to top left that shows up when a physical connection is made.
Once you click that, you can simply drag and drop the songs from the iTunes library to your iPhone folder on the site.

sara. Nah you supposed to drop it straight to music not sure why he says drop it to songs first. Also if you leave it under songs it will not be added to your iPhone since it’s supposed be dropped to music not songs

iTunes is just a nightmare and intentionally made to be so.
Michael Fumento what I did was click iPhone icon on iTunes on pc. Then click done bottom right. Then it allows me to drag drop . Must do this everytime. Also if you don’t see the iPhone icon is bc on the phone it supposed to see trust the device connected to the iPhone which is your computer

@@zichragland8880 Instead of opening iTunes, try clicking the songs icon at the bottom of your iPhone (the Music note symbol). Click on downloaded and songs. They should be in there.

@@andrewfredericksen Disconnect your iPhone from your computer and go into settings on your phone then music and turn off sync library, after that plug your iPhone back into your computer and drop your music. After that turn sync library back on to get your other music from iTunes.

THANK YOOOOOOOU!!!! Finally switched back to apple (almost 3 years with android until now) and I didn't want to lose all of my music I had. I finally got them all from SD card to Computer to iPhone :)

Same happened to me, go into your iPhone settings, go to music, and turn off the setting titled "Sync Library". You should be able to do it now.

I tried this and instead of saying under Options "Manually Manager Music and Videos" my computer only says "Manually manage Videos". There is no "music" item there. I cannot, for the life of me, drag and drop the music file to my phone even though I see it. Can't figure out what is wrong.

I was having a hard time (to say the least) syncing my iPhone to my iTunes library. There were always missing songs, albums and artists altogether. This video popped up on my RUclips feed, so I gave it a look. Your method worked perfectly and now I have all the songs I wanted on my phone PLUS I know how to put new ones on without compromising all the others.

When I drag the music to my phone it doesn't highlight the area like it did on your video - and it's therefore not copying the music across - is there something I've missed?

Just gotta go to settings>music>sync library and turn it off then unplug your phone and plug it back in then drag the songs over. After you do that turn back on sync music and BAM. Eff the system! 🔊🔊🙅🏽♂️🥶🖐🏾🎤

Just click manage videos and it will work. Go into settings and disable iCloud Music(I do not know how it works without Apple Music but this is the way I did it). It will delete your music TEMPORARILY! If you have apple music just turn iCloud music back on and it will all come back, including the song(s) you downloaded.
to me it says that will delete all apple music songs from library....

I haven’t figured it out but if you have discord you can just send the files to yourself/a friend and play them from discord

I used my own method to add music for years, and now it’s not working at all, all methods are patched. Apple is officially terrible now
I actually just tried something, I signed out of my iCloud completely(because it wouldn’t let me uncheck sync music library, after I unchecked they would check it again) and now I can click and drag music to my phone line I used to.
Xavier Johnson well when I logged out of iCloud music, it took everything off my phone. This is stupid. Do you know of another app to add music without iTunes?

unfortunately you will have to delete all your existing songs, what i did is i:
1.note down all my music i already had
2.download each one from the internet
3.add any new songs
4.put it in my phone
my phone icon does not pop up? all my songs and playlist do though..

I did things a little differently, but your video was VERY helpful.
In my case for my iPod Touch 4th Gen, I did not have any files on my device deleted by dragging and dropping files across using the technique you described in your video. And my device was not linked nor was any music synced with my computer etc.
Am so glad that I did not have to go though all the usual hassle of having the device syncing Gigabytes of the data on my iPod to my computer first.
After adding the songs I then went into the "Recently Added" section on my device via iTunes on Windows and selected all those items and added them to a New Playlist.
Worked out well!

I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP, on a Mac I have (which is synced to my phone) I have many many photos and memories. I tried downloading music from a not apple pc and it said that media will be replaced. Does that mean that the photos will disappear???

When I drag and drop to the iPhone it says my iCloud music is enabled and won't let me. I read a previous comment that said to turn off syncing and that should work - but it didn't. How do I get my music to transfer to my iPhone please?

for those dealing with the problem of “Some of the files were not copied to the iPhone because iCloud Music Library is enabled on this iPhone” you need to go to your settings and click music, then (Turn off) sync music.
