Cut the bottom off the water bottle stuff it and small powerhead fits perfect on water bottle. I like using 1 liter coke bottles . I like the soldering iron trick. I always just cut the bottom off but i really like the clean look u got going on there.
Sup bud. Great tutorial. Is this the same material (polyfil) that you suggested from Walmart? I know aquarium shops sell it SPECIFICALLY for aquarium filters, but is it the same thing, essentially?
Wsup bro. Yea it's the same. Make sure you dont get the flame proof one. Aparently the flame proof one has chemicals in it that can kill your fish. Make sure it doesnt have added chemicals and whatnot and you should be good.
@@BryanLa K cool, thanks. I DID find it next time around indeed in the same area u suggested, so I do appreciate that. There was nothing indicative on the package that stated it was not flammable, so it should be good. Thanks again man.
nice vid man!! one thing i'd suggest is putting the filter floss on the bottom first and more bio media on the top rather than vise versa just so the water is polished first and only the (good bacteria) is sent to grow on your media rather than the way it was in the video. none the less still really cool build man!
Thanks! Yea I changed it up in my follow up video on this filter, added some bio media and its currently running in my 40 gallon for extra filtration. This definitely cleared up my bigger tank tho!
The idea is the air pushes up the tube, causing suction behind the bubbles. Which in turn pulls water from the bottom of the bottle to the top. Passing the filter floss in the process. I have a follow up video for this filter in my library
The airline in this filter is at the bottom of my air lift tube, it might have worked better at the bottom if I used a longer air lift tube to go all the way down, but for this application it worked great for me. In my v2 filter I have the air lift tube going all the way down
Y so indecisive about the hole n the airline? Didn't u think this thru before the DIY project? Too slow here n then.... Put more energy n excitement into it
Version 2 of this filter here! ruclips.net/video/3PcstxYgpUw/видео.html
VERY nice looking fish room. Looks like a sweet place to chill. Hopefully you're still rocking 5 years later!

Aren't u supposed to have the airline close to the bottom?
