Gel-X or any gel extensions go cloudy if you go over them with alcohol so use acetone instead unless you plan on painting over the whole nail. Once it goes cloudy it's hard to make clear again but you can try to buff and go over it with acetone. Generally as soon as you attach the tips cover the underside with top gel to prevent the alcohol from clouding the gel extensions.
Beautiful, clean job! I find what works best for me is: buff the nail, draw the smile line in non-wipe top coat, cure 30 sec., chrome powder, cure rest of the way, carefully dust off chrome from rest of the nail, top coat over the whole nail, cure.
Great tip! I also do this if I want to the shade of chrome to be more subtle. Black or white gels can sometimes make the chrome pop a little too much x
I love the texture look for the gold chrome it make it look like gold bars but in a different color I would prefer the smooth flat look as well. Your set came out so beautiful and neat. This definitely made me want to give this a try.
@@Zebrafroschify The stamper tool works great...but, it tends to apply the product a bit thickly. A bit of touch-up with a brush to perfect the corners and also to take the thickness of the top coat down a bit is sometimes required. But I also noticed chipping within a week or so. Hmmmm....it still seems to be best to brush it on by hand, cure, and then remove excess chrome powder with alcohol. Whatever I do, I think this look is just wonderful and it's worth the effort.
Great video, I've tried doing it over the painted black nail and then over top coat and I always get an unsightly bump. 😏 Appreciate all the tips, yours are stunning ❤️ especially with the nude colour underneath. Thanks, Blessings from Scotland. 🙏🏴🌹
You did THAT…..🥵🤤😍 That brown background really made it pop, Great 👍🏾 job. EDIT ✍🏾: your voice sounds very rich 💅🏿, this style works for you 😏, Almost like Dua lipa.
wow. I like both for diff applications. The original way looks “gold plated” so it could work well when youre playing with textures or organic designs & u want less perfect mirror finish. Whereas the new version without the art gel is a seamless look, it would go well with more typical/clean/simple designs were u wants the contrast to Just be between the base color & chrome finish. The new way also seems harder on the eyes to do, at least for me and as you said is harder to fix mistakes with without starting ovee
you know, as much as i hate the textured "bump" that comes with doing gel polish french tips sometimes, i think with the gold it really gives a lot of dimension to the powder.
I found a fix for that. Try adding builder gel on top of the colored gel as the next to last step. This makes it smooth enough to conceal the bump before you add the top coat. Complete game changer!
What a genius idea! Thank you for sharing this with us! They look amazing!! If I put a second top coat layer, why does it peel revealing the first top coat layer? Also do you cap the end of your nails with top coat?
Thank you for watching!! It depends on the formula of your topcoat, sometimes you might need to go in with a layer of base coat before topcoat if that’s happening, as the topcoat may need something to grip to. If I’m using gel-x I generally don’t need to cap the ends, but I will do when applying gel to my natural nails. Hope that helps ✨
I use Candy Coat liners. They don't really market them for this specific purpose, but I discovered that they're perfect for chrome designs by mistake and haven't looked back x
Thank you! I used one coat to keep it flat but you can always do two. I have experienced this and it mostly comes down to residue pigment still on your nail surface - it can affect the adhesion of your topcoat and cause it to separate/chip. I sometimes get around this by using a makeup sponge to go over the whole nail, after dusting away but before top coating. Hope that helps :)
Great job, I mean, you can see the difference on the index finger and the French brush must have taken away some of the pigment. You’re right though, I think yours looks better than the original. I didn’t like the ridges she had. Good on you ❤️🇦🇺
It really depends, it could be the chrome or the topcoat. To be safe, I always seal the chrome in with a thin layer of clear builder gel, followed by a layer of topcoat. Or, I do two layers of topcoat x

Im going to try applying the top coat over the chrome with a stamper tool. It makes great smile lines, but I haven't yet seen anyone do this.
oh please report back when you had a chance to try! ✨

@@memnailss yes very helpful thank you!
May I ask what black art gel brand you use? The one that doesn’t have sticky layer

Yes love this hack. thank for sharing. I love chrome nails lol new subbie here.
So glad you like it and thank you for subscribing! :)
Have you tried using the jelly stamper for the tip?❤️🇦🇺
what do you use to wipe the risidual chrome?
What was the gel polish you used on the demo nails? It’s such a beautiful color
It was Java by 516 Polish ❣
Lindo! Que produto vc usa pra remover e este gloss e gel?
Obrigado! Eu usei uma lixa de unha elétrica e um buffer. Espero que isso se traduza bem😅
what are you wiping the excess chrome with? what solution?
I just use 100% acetone but cosmetic grade alcohol works too
Gorgeous
That's a good idea!😃
I like my nail artist OCD because I’m kind of OCD about these things too.😂😂😂 I do it myself now though.
Hi they look really good! Did you use 2 coats of the chrome ? Also do you ever get peeling of the chrome after a few days?

Where did you get the Chrome powder? Thank you very much.
I got it from HONA, but have since stopped using it and switched to this one - £ s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_9uZ8d9

I think Nefertiti would wear these nails, classy and elegant. Beautiful!
Try gold leaf
When I put top coat on.. All comes out about 3days later. I don't know it's fault of hrome or top coat. Doesn't last nothing

How long does a chrome is resistant on the nail ? Or does it last like a normal polish ?
I seal mine in with two separate layers of gel topcoat and it can last up to three weeks or as long as I keep the nail art on for
