i love my father to death.. he s 97 now and we all adore him. none of us his children is relying on inheritance. Parents should plan their lives well in order not to rely solely on their chilren at old age but my prayer is for all my independent children to be greater than me. As a parent, my prayer is to leave this world before my children (may we not mourn/weep over our children)- agreed wt u, parents MUST PLAN for their retirement.

Another angle is, is the father there for them at their growing stage. They might be closer to the mother because she is the one that is always there for them.

    • @khanesease3735

Their father might have been selflessly busy digging trenches and crushing stones for the family to survive, and, as is in many cases, their mother might be unfortunately withholding that truth from them, very often selfishly so, making them only believe what they see in front of them. This is what has unfortunately befallen many selflessly responsible fathers. The role of the father is very often "forgotten". Man, take care of yourself, because you could become a doormat, or be seen as a burden.

This comment reflects the reality of normal functioning families that have values which fostered deep love care and respect for one another- as opposed to this proud selfishness depicted in this video. Unless the good Dr is trying to sell a book, don’t buy is counsel.
Isn’t it normal that as people grow older they become independent? How comes some families remain close knit regardless of these changes? I know rich lonely people that still need familial love and care. If you don’t build deep lasting relationships with your people, you can have all the money in the world and still be poor.

This is super true and sad we dont learn this until we get older. My uncle was 72 and had a construction business. He fell off a roof and was in the hospital. He was in a coma and then came out the coma recovering. His 3 daughters found out and came to the hospital saying he has documents saying he doesnt want to be resuscitated. While my uncle was recovering and talking and asking when can he get out the hospital, the daughters told the nurses not to share his information with any other family but them. They then took him off life support and he died 3 days later because he had no food or water through the tube any more. The daughters said he lived his life, and that when they were kids he never married their mom and brought up bad things he did. Even though my uncle took care of all three daughters financially and their kids. Buying school clothes and baby sitting. It meant nothing to them what he did in present time. For over 20 years they held a grudge against him and no one knew this whole time while they are taking his money and coming for family visits. Luckily he put everything in a trust and they got none of his belongings. We men are only money and support for these women, even our own daughters and its sad. A life of helping people and they throw you away and try to unalive you once you are old and they can get money from you

I'm 66yrs old. I got custody of my 15yr old son from my 1st when she abandend him at our oldest daughters house and she only went to pick up the child support check from the mail. He got arrested with 2 other kids. I raised him till he graduated from hs where he played QB one yr, then studied computers. After he graduated hs he went to work in that field. I then got full custody of my 3 of 4 younger kids from my 2nd. I paid for my oldest to go to the culinary school of the arts. I had full custody of my 3rd child(a daughter)from the time she was 11yrs old. She had near perfect attendance till she graduated. She was on the track team her last yr in jr hs, wrestling team freshman hs, swim team soph/jr, and drama club jr/sr, and cowrote and directed and stared in a performance her sr yr. I had gotten full custody of my youngest(son) when my daughter was 14yrs old.
Even though my exes "abandend our kids, in the end they have divorced themselves from me and have chosen to chase after their moms. They have forgiven their moms(as I have taught them to), but they have chosen to believe the poison they have been told about me. Only good thing is they don't come to me for "needs". They are otherwise independant . Maybe cuz they also believe that I am broke still cuz even with full custody, I was still forced to pay child support(CA law). They don't call or visit, so I know they're ok. I just tell myself that I did good cuz they are independant and not codepentant of me.
I just live my life as comfortable and peacefully as I can(me and my dog). I still work, and have my hobbies. No wife, no kids, no problems. MGTOW.

@@DrCharlesApoki One time I took the kids to see the Dodgers. I was approached by a man who asked if we needed tickets. He then spoke to the man at the turnstyle entrance, came back and told us to follow him only, just say thank you as we entered. He led us into the lodge level. He then instructed me GOD 1st, then my kids, then me.
Another time I was sold tickets by some guy as we entered from the parking lot. I was suspicious of the tickets cuz they looked different than usual. We ended up seated directly behind the dugout. One of the players came out, gave my son a baseball(he was around 5yrs old) and immediately threw it onto the field. The player retrieved it and returned it to my son. My kids were filmed by the camera crew and appeared on the jumbotron. Great time was had by all.
Only time I ever went to the stadium alone, it was the playoffs. I was given a free ticket from a sox fan. Got to see the Dodgers win.

As an Arab watching you & to make this very Clear as a Husband a father I trust what you are saying is Very much the Fact of many of the Families regardless of Culture or Faith ..
Sometimes the Mother is unaware of her extended Protection in Grooming our Children it's not necessarily that she's intentionally doing so it's because of her Protection and Mother's love
While & our Deciplinary attitude just as our Fathers did is seen to be tough which as Being young and immature creates Divisions within the Surrounding....
However We are indeed living in another Century of Time ...
Those Beautiful days of our Father's & Mother's have gone when the definition of union & Family was intact When Fathers had their place and Mother's knew their Boundaries....
Vulnerability will come with no doubt Even if we have enough to look after ourselves this will did not only happen to us even those before us ....

Assuming you are the exception does that disprove the rule?
You are head deep in your delusions. I pray you don't go broke permanently or have a life altering injury that hinders you from making money because if that happens, even in your young age you will understand what this wise man is saying.
You don't have to grow old to understand some pertinent truths of life especially when wise older people caution you. These realities keep staring at everyone but only the prudent man sees them and takes note.

I think he might be right. I'm already thinking of how I will find independence.
Right now, my husband is always out to drink at pubs. When he returns, he will be looking for mistakes and thing that we're not done while he was out. I have been sleeping for no more than 5hours for the two years that I have been a mom again. I'm up at 4am and return from work at around 6pm.I'm putting on weight because I sleep less and I have little time to cook nourishing meals. I plan to prioritise myself as much as my husband puts himself first. It's not to revenge but I recognise that he is living his full life while I stay home alone. I am going to change it as soon as my youngest is no longer too depent on me. I want to go to Church, lunches with my friends and just really be out to shop and unwind. So when this man reaches 65, he will have lost a friend in me. It might be hard to connect at that age if things are not geared towards investing time into his family.

I'm nearly 40 and this is has long started for me. As long as the attitudes of my parents and most childhood friends are concerned. I've failed my life's plans and despite being self-sufficient at most of times, i haven't built a lasting carreer and currently have even gone broke. This is not only on me (people have seriously messed with me), but the comforting part is, i've never had a wife (or gf etc.), kids or close relationships. This means i can be as vulnerable as it comes and it doesn't matter. I've accepted recently that i'll forever stay alone, and this is the prize. Irrelevancy.

You are so correct. I've always tell a very close friend of mine that I've noticed that I've seen some older men move from the master bedroom to live in a bk rm, eating by himself while wife, children and grandchildren have dinner and ice cream.
    Sad but true.
