I'd happily try both scotch whiskies Jon! I have had the Elements of Islay Bonfire and it was amazing!! These days I am reaching for ex-bourbon cask scotch but I also love ex-sherry casking!! Excellent comparison!! Very interesting tasting notes!! It's so sad when we connect with people really down on their luck. Sadly this is happening in so many parts of Vancouver and the Downtown core of the city is frankly very sad to walk around in so I understand what it's like to walk into a store in an area that is struggling as well. I wish there was an answer to everyone's struggles. Homelessness is such an entrenched issue and it's heartbreaking. I sit on a board for a non-profit whose mandate is raising capital for social housing for people with mental health and addictions and sadly when we manage to get a new building built people often protest and also the NIMBY issues come up. We need more kindness and compassion in the world. Cheers my friend.
So thankful for you and others who are more active in building housing with support. I have been involved off and on over the past and between NIMBY and not enough mental health supports, it has been disheartening at times. That said, sharing a sandwich with someone who just doesn't have food is something that all people should do. Eat together. That is how food should be. As for the scotch, the Bourbon cask would be excellent and recommended. Cheers!
@@WhiskyNeighbour Right on Jon. You have a big heart my friend! Sharing a meal with someone struggling so badly is truly a gift and I do it whenever I can. Just stopping to say, "Hi" to people, perhaps ask if they need water, a coffee and a sandwich, can add so much for both people. I's a deeply connecting experience. People can't get well or get sober from alcohol and substances on the street. It's frankly impossible. Housing should be a human right. It doesn't have to be fancy! It needs to be safe and clean and I am all for supervised support in social housing. You are absolutely right that we can all do something and sharing a sandwich is a terrific, connecting start!! I would love this Bourbon cask scotch!! Cheers my friend!! 🙂
I really like the sound of that bourbon cask, tropical fruit would’ve been a nice addition for me though, I love that note in a whisky but find it doesn’t always work when peated! thanks for the review Jon 🥃
Always great to watch your reviews Jon. I don't have all the Elements on a box here but I do know what Ma refers to. I couldn't figure it out originally but I was determined to get to the bottom of it. Ma is short for Margadale. The Margadale River runs past Bunnahabhain. Cheers. Have a good week.
I like that I got suggested a small channel! Ive been looking at bourbon lately. Great video. If I may add an opinion as a viewer, I didnt enjoy your intro. It feels long and I would rather just see your logo for 2 seconds and get back into the video.
@fillmainlol5973 welcome here! Thanks for the insight. I have been thinking of dropping the intro. It reminds me of starting up though. Might be time. Thanks again for thebhonest feedback. Cheers!
Sounds like you got a great deal on this bourbon expression. Not terribly familiar with Elixer, though I understand they do runs from most of the distilleries on Islay, some of which are insanely expensive. First came across them via Dramface. Nice way to wind up the weekend...cooler weather and some fireside worthy drams. Cheers J! 🥃🥃 "m"e 🇨🇦

@WhiskyWars This is a good blend, and I think the fruit and peat are working well! Thanks for dropping in, cheers!

@@WhiskyNeighbour Np! Your quality and speaking is great otherwise. Engaging and on par with big channels. Liked it very much

Agreed. I'll pour a second tonight under a blanket. It's cold today. Might need to turn on the furnace!
