I'm a Chef and own a restaurant, and I still love your videos. Mostly because your humor and personality. But also the food is good. People underestimate how simple some restaurant food actually is. Some is complex beyond belief, but some is pretty simple. These are great dishes to make that taste good and are easy. What Jean-Pierre does is teach people to RESPECT the ingredients, and that's the most important thing.
Thank you for the kind words, Kevin! I truly appreciate it! Many of my chef friends want me to make more complicated dishes, but my audience prefers recipes they can easily recreate at home. I firmly believe that the customer (in this case, my subscribers) is the most important person to please! Godspeed and continued success, my friend!👍😊
@ChefJeanPierre Eh, it's OK to have complex dishes once and a while, but most people don't understand that in restaurants those complex fancy dishes are achieved by a team of people. Executing them at home would be so much work for one person, it's not practical. I'd never go further then something like Beef Wellington at home. That's I'd say the max effort most people would be willing to endure. Also cost. And usually only for special occasions like Christmas or Thanksgiving. I don't think most people would watch if every recipe was coulibiac of salmon or boeuf a la bourguignon.
@MrKevin..yes his personality can’t be beat...I love his sense of humor...but he cooks a LOT of seriously unhealthy foods. Please, he should be encouraged to stop those and more dark green leafy veggies and veggies in general.
@morgancalvi6675 Uhh, hard disagree there. Food is about fun and flavor. If you want salad and sautéed spinach, that's fine but it hardly counts as a "recipe." Most people can throw together a salad without having to watch a video on how to do it. There are plenty of "health food" channels you could go watch instead. Chef Jean-Pierre is an old school chef and flavor is number one in their books (and mine). There's a reason Jean-Pierre loves butter so much. It makes everything taste amazing.
Using what I've learned from watching this channel for the last year I made a dish very similar to this two weeks ago. I had company decide to visit right before dinner and I had nothing ready. I looked in my fridge and had oyster mushrooms a friend had given me, cherry tomatoes I used in a salad that week, and two chicken breasts thawed I had planned on grilling. Boiled my pasta, cut up an onion and some garlic, cut my chicken thin and cooked it in some olive oil, took it out and threw in my onions and mushrooms and seasoned everything well, then garlic, then at the last minute I threw in my cherry tomatoes and put my chicken back in. Tossed my pasta in it, poured some chicken stock over it and grated parmesan into it until it got thick. Impressed the hell out of my guests and all I did was throw stuff together in ways I learned from watching Chef cook.
I found a few videos here on youTube from the 1990s of Chef Jean-Pierre’s PBS show. How things have changed and how they have remained the same. Great memories.
I'm making this today!! I was already going to make chicken and mushrooms with orzo pasta. Proud to say I'll be using home grown garlic, tomatoes and parsley.
Just wrapped up dinner for 5 and it was a huge hit with everyone!! So delicious. My oldest son is in firefighter training and has to make a chicken-based dinner for the fire station. He's picked this meal, so we'll make it again next week for him to practice. Thank you!
Thank you, Chef Jean-Pierre! I appreciate that you offer your followers recipes that we can recreate in our kitchens. Your friends should understand that if we did all the creative, complicated recipes why would we need their expensive restaurants? 😅 We love you, Chef Jean-Pierre, please keep doing what you're doing! ❤
Chef JP, I made this recipe with my young niece and we really enjoyed cooking it together. It was a really easy and fast recipe. The best part is that we enjoyed eating it together and I busted out laughing when she added the butter at the end, she said, "Butter makes everything Better". This warmed my heart. My Mom used to make a similar recipe and this brought back wonderful memories. Thank you Chef JP for the recipe. You're the best. 🥰🥰😋😋👍🏻👍🏻
Chef, you had me at MUSHROOM, and then again at Penne! I love to cook and, on my day, off always make a new recipe. I can't wait until Thursday this week, my day off and I am definitely going to make your recipe. Thank you for sharing and stay well.
I have eaten in many good restaurants ,, but the best tasting food is very often the simplest foods ! The secret is cooking it well ! ,,, And of course a great chef can make the simplest of foods great ! ..
I am so glad your videos are back, Chef Jean. When I come on your channel and they were gone, I actually panicked 😳😬. I learn A LOT from your videos and love how theres no fancy elevator music. Nothing is skipped, I can literally put the a video on and cook.the meal from start to finish and its like you're actually in my kitchen walking me through the process ❤🏴
I thoroughly enjoy your videos chef. I appreciate the fact that you do not just cook but that you make and take the time to teach how and why. Have you ever thought of doing a video on viande de lapin? It is a fantastic meat that doesn’t get a lot of attention in most of the United States. I was raised and live in the south, raised on a cattle farm, we pretty much ate everything the woods produced. We butchered everything ourselves. We pretty much ate everything from the rooter to the tooter.😂🤷♂️
I love this content. We've learned more about cooking in the past 4 years than we would have known in our entire lives. We don't go out to eat anymore to eat something we can't make at home, we go out to eat when we are feeling lazy.
Dear Chef, How do you do it so that when I need something specific you appear and provide it?? I fell down a wooden staircase in our home 10 days (of some crazy kinda pain!) ago, fracturing my shoulder and wrist, some vertebrae in my spine and neck! Bruising and swelling still hideous! But I’m slowly starting to heal just the past 2 days. . Meanwhile my dear husband of now 50 years has taken over cooking our meals and although he is not “the” cook, he is making us some fantastic meals. He watches you, too, we are foodies. Each item he makes is cooked so well! This pasta dish is exactly what the doctors ordered! He would eat pasta daily, he is Italian and pasta is his comfort food. I’m going to show him this and you can bet he will be one proud gentleman within the next day or two! He’s been so wonderful 😍👍❤️ and your timing is yet again perfect. I’m so grateful for you both! Thanks so very much! 😊
So I cooked this dish tonight, as chef JP said, it was so easy to make, what makes it easy as well is the preparation of the ingredients which wasn't much, my husband loved it, so I took a dish to my son, and an hour later my son sent me a text and said "I just wanted to tell you that you're an amazing cook", credit to you chef, I'm learning a lot from you and cooked lots of your dishes, keep up the good work 🙂
One thing we took away from a vacation in Italy- simple dishes prepared well from quality ingredients are better than complicated dishes made from mediocre ingredients with little care. It doesn't have to be complex to be good!
Chef, first of all, thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with us. I’m 70 years old, cooking since I was 19 but I’ve learned so much from you in the past month (when I discovered your videos) than all the years I’ve been cooking. I look forward to learning more and trying some of these recipes. God bless you and thank you again.
I live near an Amish community, they had homemade noodles for sale and we finally had rain here, so i went shroom hunting and found Oyster and Chicken mushrooms❤❤, so this video is perfect timing.
This is one of my go to dishes as well. Love the spinach with pasta and sometimes I substitute the chicken for salmon 👌 it's also very good with some boursin mixed into the sauce ❤ perfect to have a nice comforting meal on the table very quickly 😁
Chef Jean-Pierre! I have been watching you for over 4 years. I have also been watching RUclips many more years than that. Of all the channels I have subbed none come close to showing your passion and enthusiasm for what you do. It has been a pleasure Sir.
I have been doing a mushroom cream sauce myself quite regularly with the bumper crop of Chantarelles i've found this year, even including a bit of sherry or cooking wine, and always the cream.... I reduce and also add some parmesan, it is a very versatile sauce, It can be put on Rice, on Chicken, obviously on pasta, but one of my favorite comforts is on a toast, generally a rye. Also, do not salt, until after you've added your parmesan, as the parmesan can add a significant salt profile. Love watching. Regards,
Chef Jean-Pierre thank you for helping me through my depression and being the nicest chef on the planet. I've worked in hospo for years and every senior chef has been very hard but fair on me, I understand the tough nature is to learn to adapt under tough circumstances but as a junior chef you're the kind of mentor I wish I had as you make it look like fun as opposed to a lesson in making mistakes
Made this last night for my teenage boys, they are now fans of Chef Jean-Pierre! So tasty. Mise-en-place, glass of wine, and not getting caught up on exact measurements made this a very relaxing dinner to make mid-week.
I made this dish for my 18-month-old grandson. He, my wife, and I enjoyed this dish. I really enjoy your style of videos. You can truly tell you are a classically trained chef by the explanations of what you do and why you do it. I have learned a lot from you from watching your videos in the past few years. My favorite phrase you say is, "if you don't like it, don't put it in the dish or if you don't have it substitute this for this ingredient". You do not ingredient shame people. Not all people keep shallots in the house, but most have onions. Keep on making videos of the dishes that normal people can make. You will continue to add to your already successful career.
I haven't been able to watch chef Jean Pierre in a while. I live in a small town in Western North Carolina and this brought me joy for the first time in a week! I love your videos chef!
This is the perfect dish for surprising my wife with at home. Because I'm not an experienced cook at all, but this one looks really manageable! Thank you so much!
Congrats on 2M subscribers!!! This pasta recipe checks all the boxes on my dinner list - pasta, mushrooms, spinach, cheese AND fast and easy. What more could anyone want except more of these types of recipes from our favorite YT chef?!?!?!
Funny. Made some simple pasta with mushrooms, dried tomatos and a creamy parmesan-sauce tonight. And voila, you had a veeery similar idea. The only thing I did not dare to do: add butter. Maybe next time. This is a great basic recipe for a delicious, creamy pasta. Thanks for helping me learn flexibility with cooking. A year ago I would not have dared to freestyle stuff like this.
YOU ARE THE BEST EVER AND FOREVER. I love it. I couldn't find any videos last night, when I came to kitchen to cook dinner, I suspect some tech issues I guess. I was devastated. I am so HAPPY you are back to my kitchen and my life. Thank you for this and all videos. I can't imagine cooking anything I cook without your voice in the background. You make my, each and every day brighter. I watch your videos over and over again.i can just listen for you all the time ,you bring so much joy .No matter how many times ,it ALWAYS makes my day brighter. Thank you Chief ❤❤❤❤
Huh? What? This is your "quick" menu? LOL! BTW, add some bacon to the list of ingredients! Why? Well, as you know Chef, everything, especially chicken and pasta and spinach and cream, will taste even better with bacon, as does almost everything else! Happy Cooking!
My friend, I love this channel, I made almost all of your recipes so far and I've been watching since the beginning, but I have to be honest with you...kids don't like mushrooms. Yes, even with your method, by drying them out completely.
I have a few videos of yours to catch up on 😢 I haven’t quite been feeling like my true self recently so I’ve not tuned into your channel in about a month 😔💔 Well I’m back on it now. And this one looks like a banger. All of your food is wonderful. Just like your personality. It would be great to see more really simple, fast weekday dinners like this, chef. Much love from the UK. (I’m still waiting for Jack to make an appearance. I think we all are) 😂
Thanx to you chef Jean Pierre my family says I’m a great home cook! Thanx for the free lessons and tips along the way! This creamy chicken mushroom dish is on our weekly menu because we love it so much! 🙌👩🍳💛
I love what you do CJP. You and Jacques Pepin are my favorites. The ingredients are mostly obtainable, the videos are short and I always learn something. I was a guy that made basic dishes by following instructions and now I can cook and I can create and rarely look at instructions because I usually know how and why to do things and my dishes have leveled up. Thank you.
Chef, Thank you for sharing your life’s work with us! Your energy is a giant blessing on this world and I thank you so much. Your videos have enriched my life. Thank you so much much and thank you to all making this sharing possible!
A crap ton of work to prepare (as usual), but well worth the effort! Studied in Paris years ago - continuing to learn, and having these straightforward, quality-ingredient recipes is key to pleasing the family with excellent meals. Kudos to Chef for this addition to my cookbook! Cheers! 👏
This reminds me of when I first moved to Australia I worked as a dish-pig in a seaside cafe in Sydney and the Chef would mask this for me for my lunch. In turn I made it often for myself and friends at home! 😋
'People tell me all the time you know, you used to run one of the best restaurants in the country and now you're making food everyone can make, we'll that's the whole idea! I'm not here to teach you to become a great chef, I'm here to teach you to be a good home cook'. That is beautiful
Made this tonight and it was good and tasty! Glad I had my partner do all the prep work! Chicken took a while to brown. But happy with this easy meal! TY Chef JP!
Awesome, congratulations on the subscribers. Thanks for sharing these wonderful recipes and your knowledge with us. I really appreciate what you are doing for the community
I cooked it last night. It was delicious! Oh and I ran to the groceries store for the sundries tomatotoes. I always had the oily ones…and I ran out of them. My husband always complained about them… not this time! Thanks for a good tasty meal.

Butter tastes good, rub on body too.
@privacyvalued4134 Then you will live at least 17 more years!
I’m sorry, I had to.
I almost had a heart attack when I saw all the videos gone and the channel hacked. Huge relief to see everything back!
Tik-Tak-Tok 10-minutes. BUT, when Chef JP does 10-minute videos, you are in for a Learning Experience! Merci, Chef.
Complication is overrated. Simple elegant foods are more enjoyable. I can almost smell the yumminess.

I was a guy that made basic dishes by following instructions and now I can cook and I can create and rarely look at instructions because I usually know how and why to do things and my dishes have leveled up. Thank you.
Love pasta, would leave the mushrooms out! Will cook that one. Thankyou Chef JP
I would leave the mushroom in.
@@joycedudzinski9415 I love mushrooms but I am allergic to them.

A crap ton of work to prepare (as usual), but well worth the effort! Studied in Paris years ago - continuing to learn, and having these straightforward, quality-ingredient recipes is key to pleasing the family with excellent meals. Kudos to Chef for this addition to my cookbook! Cheers! 👏

2.01m subscribers - Yay! Proud to be one of them. Hello from Ireland Chef.
This reminds me of when I first moved to Australia I worked as a dish-pig in a seaside cafe in Sydney and the Chef would mask this for me for my lunch. In turn I made it often for myself and friends at home! 😋
Glad you're back, Chef!
'People tell me all the time you know, you used to run one of the best restaurants in the country and now you're making food everyone can make, we'll that's the whole idea! I'm not here to teach you to become a great chef, I'm here to teach you to be a good home cook'.

I cooked it last night. It was delicious! Oh and I ran to the groceries store for the sundries tomatotoes. I always had the oily ones…and I ran out of them. My husband always complained about them… not this time! Thanks for a good tasty meal.
Agree with you Chef, this pasta is very easy to make, thanks for sharing this delicious dish 🙂
