- The Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Ohio (SSGN 726) arrived alongside the USS Emory S. Land (AS-39) in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia for a port visit as part of its Indo-Asia-Pacific deployment.
The USS Ohio is the first of four Ohio-class guided-missile submarines. The Navy’s guided-missile submarines provide the Navy with unprecedented strike and special operation mission capabilities from a stealthy, clandestine platform. Measuring more than 560 feet long and weighing more than 18,000 tons when submerged, Ohio is one of the largest submarines in the world.

Bob here l remember working on this ship when they laid the keel and worked aboard till the delivery of this massive ship what a great time it was for me in the ship yard Groton Connecticut at the time l was a inspector aboard and met a lot of great people who were involved and going to serve aboard this wonderful ship very proud of them and our country great time for me!.

Had the privilege to be at her "launching" back in 1979...first of her class...tho the day of the "sliders" is gone as these boats are floated now....but have seen many subs slide through the years as I live in Groton, CT....remember seeing Jackie Kennedy drive by heading to the USS Lafayette ceremonies

Chris Martone does it have nuclear weapons on it?? That submarine is NOT a fast attack boat!! Are you a crew member of that boat? Fast attack boats don't have nuclear weapons!! There are only two types of submarines in America fast attacks and Boomers with Ballistic nuclear weapons.
With all due respect, please go and educate yourself. This IS NO LONGER A BOOMER. Ohio and several other of her class were converted to SSGN submarines. They have no ballistic missiles whatsoever. SSBN's dont have those large storage hangers behind her sail. Those are to carry special ops forces gear and equipment. They can also exit out of the sub via at least one of the old missile tubes. I never called it a fast attack boat, which is a SSN. These SSGN's carry SEALS and Guided missiles such as Tomahawk's. Those Tomahawk's are capable of being nuclear tipped but the Navy currently does not have that set up, only conventional warheads. I invite you to please RESEARCH this info and you'll see that you're behind the times. There are of course still Ohio class SSBN's as well. I think only 4 were converted
Chris Martone must have been a recent conversion because that wasn't the case between 2001 and 2008 when I was there. Times do change yes.
