What a fun series of images! I have the LLL 50mm Elcan incoming and am looking forward to that- and considering picking up an 8e as well. Do you think it would be redundant with a 35 FLE?
I have the Elcan coming as well! The 8E is so different than the FLE so if you shoot 35 a lot it might be worth it. It’s especially great on black and white film or monochrom!
could someone explain what Kevin means by push to 1600, is he talking about shooting at 1600 iso (so when you meter you meter for 1600iso. Or does he mean push to 1600 in development?
I agree with this. I’ve owned it for six months and while I have five different 35mm lenses including the latest Summilux, this one is special and the one that has been on my camera the most. It just has character and the flaring is a creative gift. The price on eBay these days is around $1300 and it’s worth it.
I just bought this lens although it has not arrived yet. Hopefully tomorrow. I do have the Light Lens Lab Speed Panchro 50mm which I have really enjoyed so far. Your photos with this lens are really good although I do have a question. The photos in this video have a substantial amount of vignetting. Was this added in post or left uncorrected during editing?
Hey Steven thanks for watching! I hope you’re enjoying your 8 element. As far as the Vignette….I did these a while ago so to be honest I can’t remember too much about my edits. What I can say is the lens has a bit of vignette at F2 and cleans up as you stop down. I do enjoy vignette so if I had to guess I would say I probably added some to these. Thanks a lot for watching!
@@kevinfickling6384 It looks so beautiful! And damn, that strap matches the camera so well... was the M an edition for the Leica Store in Frankfurt? Been there many times.
If you like original Leica better than replica: Summaron f2.8 35mm. I know it's 2.8, but IQ-wise it's even better than its sibling, the 8element 'cron.
I disagreed with respect. It's not f2 and it's most cases does not contain thorium and other rare rare earth elements. I can be wrong. But I could find out by making a phone call and talk to my camera technician.
You stated that you shoot both film and digital, obviously its great to have the versatility to able to use any given lens on both types of camera, that point is respected, but on the digital aspect of this there is nothing on the images you have exhibited that my Xpro1 with my XF 35 f1.4 cant do, and i am not drawing the comparison because i think my Fuji Xpro1 is some kind of range finder, and therefore a poor mans leica because its not, its just that i have owned an Xpro 1 from new and know what it / i can do.
Great documentary shots. Killer lens!
Thanks Frank!

Sorry for the late reply. This is metering at 1600 and adjusting with a longer development time later.
You caught me. It said Leica so I clicked on it. Clickbait
I was thinking about picking this up, thanks for making the video!
It’s an amazing lens! You won’t regret getting one!

@@robertstacy8438 yes exactly! There really is something special about the 8 element and this design.

Der beste Fickling des Internets, I love your content! Greetings from Germany
Vielen Dank! I really appreciate that! I will be visiting Wetzlar in October!
More Leica please ☺️
Really nice photos. I had no idea how special this lens was or the original it was based off. Great choice for lo-fi tunes as well!
Thank you for watching! Lots more coming soon!
Very nice lens... the photos you took quite a selling point for anyone getting dragged back into nostalgic 8 elements
Thank you!!
I was looking to get a 35mm 8 element but those are crazy pricey right now. Thanks for introducing this great alternative!
It’s a fantastic lens. It definitely delivers that glow that Leica lenses of yore have.
Get one. It's a very beautiful Leitz Summicron 35mm f2. The real deal!
Luv your process dude, please make more videos!
Thanks for watching!!
Those images are so sick.
Thank you! Really appreciate that.
I know this video is about the lens, but how does one get a blue MP-240? I love the color.
Thanks! This is called the Frankfurt edition. It’s a 1/50 set that came in this color with a 50 summilux silver chrome.

Clean vid, damn those straps are nice
Thanks bro!!
Great video! And, sample photos are fantastic!
Where are these lenses manufactured? China?

Summaron is great also!
Loved those images!
Love the shots
Thank you 🙏
Leica 35mm f2 8 element replica! Light Lens Labs? Not an f2? What does it cost?
What is the unit price?
It's a replica, everything is the same as the original one except the label and material.
