Then later someone asks Fredo where he found this club they went to and Fredo says “Johnny Ola showed it to me Johnny knows all these places” so he obviously knew Ola well
Michael had every natural gift to be an executive, a mastermind, and a leader. He studied people and assessed the strengths and weaknesses of every person. He verified before he could trust, Fredo was always too trusting and vulnerable to being used by others.
He was too emotional. Easily manipulated. Sonny was too. Piss off Sonny and you can do your next chess move. Lie to Fredo and make him emotional - he will give in.
You missed the entire scene where Michael truly discovered that Fredo was the traitor. During the scene 7:07, the Nevada senator who visited Mike in the beginning of the film asked Fredo how he found out about these exotic dancing theaters. Fredo asnwered that "Johnny Ola told me about this place. He brought me here". This is contradictory to what he told Mike at 6:28. In the movie, Mike didn't see Fredo as a traitor, or at least he convinced himself that Fredo was not. But after that, Mike discovered it.

Being simple minded he was not a deep thinker but after Roth tricked him getting enough info to attempt a hit at the family compound, Fredo needed to come clean with Michael. He would have paid penance but could have redeemed himself.
Fredo tells us that "he was mad" at his brother for being passed over. That sums up his motivations for (and this is important) believing what Michael's enemies told him. Fredo tells us by actions and reactions that he wanted to make his family respect him with a big move and the enemies played him like a grand piano. The fact that he was raised mafioso, how could he not know that it would result in Michael's assassination? But he was slow. After Fredo was eliminated, Michael regretted it for the rest of his life. It was the only thing he did that he cried over. That tells me that he was never sure that Fredo had any real intention to off Michael, only to replace him as head of the family.
Fredo could’ve took over the empire the moment after the attempted assassination of the don but he was weak, immature, envious and not a made man. fredo had a chip on his shoulder shoulder for his own actions.
I blame the Don since he NEVER should allowed Fredo in the family business. Fredo was not smart enough to navigate in that world where a mistake could get you killed. He also failed his father during the assignation attempt on his dad by dropping the gun. The gunman also didn’t see him as a threat and let him live. Also, when his brother stood up for him against Moe Green…Fredo realized his brother knew Moe beat him and still sided with Moe. Fredo failed to understand that allowing Moe beat him as a grown man made the family look weak to the other families. Moe hitting Fredo should had been a death sentence that even Roth known crossed a line. Fredo then sided with Roth which almost killed Kay and Michael. Almost losing Kay that way had to be a reminder how he failed his first wife since he didn’t discover his bodyguard turned on him and planted a bomb in car. Michael repeated the same mistake which allowed someone in his family to open the blinds. I also think Connie opened the blinds since I can’t imagine Fredo entering Michael’s bedroom with Kay in the room. But Connie asked for money and Michael embarrassed her by saying no to her request. Fredo hated Michael for being passed over as the Don and Connie hated Michael for killing her husband. The Don should had also taken care of Carlo since he beat up Connie which also made the family look weak. That was another issue Michael had to clean up for his father’s inaction.
I think the gun men figured out a way to open the windows from the outside and pulled back the drapes before closing the windows again and lying in wait?
Interesting take related to Connie but nothing of the sort was shown in the movie. Maybe this angle of suspicion towards Connie should have been written in the movie to make it more wholesome and multi faceted.
I've said this all along. The Don should have wanted for Fredo what he wanted for Michael. You are so right about Connie. She truly hated Michael about Carlo.
Fredo was born to the wrong family. I think that Michael thought, as 'bad' as Fredo was (cowardly, clumsy, etc), the one thing Fredo wouldn't do was betray him, because he underestimated Fredo's pride. I still remember Fredo's slip about Ola in Cuba, omg, we kind of learned that Fredo was the...traitor. Oh man, it was shocking, the movie was excellent, the actors and how they edited it as well.
Fredo said that he had never met Johnny Ola, but at the show Fredo said that johnny knew the place like the back of his hand, confirming that he had contact with Roth and Ola.
Fredo made Michael realize that business is always personal when family is involved. Respect doesn't matter because your enemies show respect until they want you dead. Even Fredo was willing to betray Michael for respect.
Michael a Former World War 2 Marine Who had Battle Field Promotion to Captain is a Natural Born Leader definitely was the Right Pick Sonny was too much of a Hot Head Fido was weak Mike could Read People better than anyone and kept his friends Close and Enemies Closer 😎😎
Also: After Fredo told he never met roth and ola, he later in the club spoke to one of the men "johnny ola showed me this club. Johnny knows whats up." - and michael heard that. You could clearly see in his face that this was the final bit of information he needed to be sure.
The scene where Fredo is sleeping with his wife and Johnny Ola calls him in the middle of the night, you can notice the subliminable message about his room, black sheets and weird demonic decoration on the wall, also his wife was kind of a evil woman, Fredo became a evil man, and the reason, he explains to Michael just before getting banned from the family
Not really difficult to notice when Michael finds out Fredo betrayed him. He knew from the beginning that someone from the inside helped the assassins.
Wasn’t it obvious how Michael knew Fredo had betrayed him? Fredo pretended not to know either Roth or Johnny Ola. But Fredo, genius that he is, let it slip that he and Johnny Ola had been hanging out socially. If Michael suspected Fredo beforehand, it was because he knew Fredo was “weak” and “stupid”, and therefore, vulnerable. Fredo had previously displayed a propensity toward disloyalty when he spoke up on Moe Green’s behalf when Green disrespected Michael in Las Vegas. Michael knew then that Fredo was susceptible to outside influences. This, on top of Fredo acting either frightened or suspicious during certain conversations.
Fredo was a dead man walking as soon as made the deal with Roth. If the hit had been successful, the Corleones would have been dismantled anyway and there would be no use for Fredo, even as a figurehead.
Jealousy, greed & pride. Some real Cain & Able drama going on right there. Fredo, like Cain was jealous of his brother being favored over him. Greedy wanting to be able to have control over the empire. His pride not allowing him to accept being 2nd best to his younger brother. So he sought redemption. Redemption that ultimately would cost him his life.
HOW did Michael know Fredo betrayed him? Fredo told Mike he never met Ola or Roth. Then Fredo takes them all to a show, after one too many drinks Fredo starts getting too loose with his words and says "Ola knows all the best places. Oldman Roth comes here all the time".. Michael was stunned and heartbroken.
In the book Fredo is bisexual. The book also implies that he was molested as a child by his parish priest, Father Stefano. Also in the book Louie Russo, a rival mobster spreads rumors of Fredo's sexuality to make Michael look weak. He tries to have Fredo killed while he is with a male lover.
If Roth was successful with the assassination attempt, does that mean the corleone family is done? Or was Fredo supposed to pick up the pieces and get a position in roths organization??
I think Michael knew / suspected Fredo was the traitor from when Vito got shot. When it was revealed that Paulie was sick and Fredo told Clemenza that he did not need to replace Paulie and chose to drive Vito. In addition, his fumbling of the gun when Vito was shot was also a tell
Fredo let himself get talked into betraying Michael by giving information to others, he became a person the could not be trusted and you know what happens to those type of people.
M.C. had to off Freda and allowed him to live a bit longer only because they were brothers. Fredp knew that Roth 'owned a senator'. And he never told MC until that moment he was asked. Fredo wanted the throne...think about it..
Jealousy was the reason he went behind his back and it proved to be deadly! Friends and family are all capable of this unwise decision! Michael knows that everyone is his enemy!!!🖤❤🖤❤🖤❤
Everybody loves to hate on the Italian Imbecile, Fredo, but I don’t think Michael knew it was him right off the bat. Sure Michael is smart, as cunning as his father was, but when Fredo was acting suspicious and shifty when he got to Cuba I believe Michael observed and wrote off those behaviors. Michael didn’t see at that point because he didn’t want to see, he still wanted to believe his brother wouldn’t betray him like this. That’s why Michael reacts the way he does when Fredo mouths off that evening at the nightclub. He seems genuinely gobsmacked and upset as though he’s thinking “How did I not see??”

Fredo, you knew better.
I have seen the movie several times. It is a favorite. Fredo was just dimwitted. We all know people like him. Delusions of grandeur, but dimwitted.
The shooters were found outside Fredos house on the compound. His wife screamed and said she wanted to leave.
Fredo made Michael realize that business is always personal when family is involved. Respect doesn't matter because your enemies show respect until they want you dead. Even Fredo was willing to betray Michael for respect.
He told his brother to never takes sides against the familly again. this happens in family's with over 4 - 7 brothers often.
Can happen sadly
He had that fever as a baby, nothing to do with not being cut from that cloth.
Fredo now sleeps with the fishes...😂 🐟 🐠 💀
Fredo should have been sent to Panama to start a pizza business, away from the mafia.
You completely left out that Freddo, nearly died as baby from a severe illness, that likely stunted Freddo's intellect.
Also think Mike knew because at the club. After the slip up, Mike nods to the security and he knew exactly where to go.
Also:
After Fredo told he never met roth and ola, he later in the club spoke to one of the men "johnny ola showed me this club.
By the shape of Fredo's head we knew he would nvr be the Don.
Fredo's not dumb like you say, he's smart!
There's a Fredo in every family.
He knew because the author of the God Father wrote it that way.
We know that it's a movie but still get in tune😊
Never heard him called Hogg-in what Movie is that?
How did you get Forrest Gump to narrate?
Jonny Ola was allowed to retire, to Jersey, and run a glorified crew
Fredo had a severe fever as a baby, this would have caused some brain damage and this is why he is like he is.
" I'M SMART"
In the books Fredo is gay and that’s why his wife says he’s not a real man
In the book Fredo is bisexual. The book also implies that he was molested as a child by his parish priest, Father Stefano. Also in the book Louie Russo, a rival mobster spreads rumors of Fredo's sexuality to make Michael look weak. He tries to have Fredo killed while he is with a male lover.
@@kmarsh089 Wow...I need to read the book.
If Roth was successful with the assassination attempt, does that mean the corleone family is done? Or was Fredo supposed to pick up the pieces and get a position in roths organization??
Fredo just wanted to be like Frodo...
Ah there's only one thing to say about all this. The Godfather was definitely the best movie ever produced by Hollywood.
When Vito was shot, Fredo was just being Fredo, stupid and incompetent. He didn't betray Michael and the family until much later.
U just explained it in the first 10 seconds. So, why have this video for this length?
Fredo: I never met Johnny Ola,
Next day
Fredo: Johnny Ola told me about….
And Michael “The Taperecorder” noticed it as it came out of Fredo’s mouth..
In great movies… re watching is an engaging experience… because the bread crumbs are always there
Fredo let himself get talked into betraying Michael by giving information to others, he became a person the could not be trusted and you know what happens to those type of people.
Is this AI generated narration? Mispronunciation of names is kind of a giveaway.
M.C. had to off Freda and allowed him to live a bit longer only because they were brothers.
Fredp knew that Roth 'owned a senator'. And he never told MC until that moment he was asked. Fredo wanted the throne...think about it..
Who is Tom hagon?
I wonder if Fredo would have been honest before the assassination attempt, would it have changed Fredo's outcome ?
Jealousy was the reason he went behind his back and it proved to be deadly! Friends and family are all capable of this unwise decision! Michael knows that everyone is his enemy!!!🖤❤🖤❤🖤❤
What did fredo say to ola about mike
Fredo was little on on the special ed side facts❤
He was a sickly child too
If they had DNA testing back, then maybe Fredo was the milkmans son. It would explain a lot.
People always forget that the Corleones were not nice people and probably deserved the same fate that they put others through. So stop the bullshit.
1:05 - I always thought for a brief second there that Michael looked like Moe Howard.
B u t his father would not killed him!! That was sad!!
What’s up with the fireflies? Detracts from the video…
what an actor
Tom was longer part of the Family Organization
Sonny was too hot-headed and got himself killed early on, Fredo was too weak and not smart enough, and Michael as Baby Bear was just right.
See how much damage is caused by the weak.
Where do you show how Freddo trying you blame the betrayal on Tom? I can't stand people who uses clickbaits disrespecting viewers and taking us for fools.
u missed the dead giveaway bro....
🥃👴🏻 WHAT IS THIS JUNK???
Ngl 5:40 I thought Vito was out the picture when Fredo and Mo and Johnny Orla where at the club. Shout out to Junior Soprano.😅
He knew it cause the script said so.
