A recovering alcoholic recommended to me The Pyure brand dry stevia extract. The ingredient list is organic stevia leaf extract, nothing else. Have you tried Now Foods Better Stevia brand? Allulose got a lot of hype as an alternative sweetener when Quest Nutrition started using Allulose in their Quest Hero Bars. Pure Allulose just like pure Monk Fruit is an acquired taste as an alternative sweetener. I am also one of those folks that get hungry or want to eat more after consuming something with Splenda, so I avoid it. The problem is Splenda is in almost everything now under the other name Sucralose. A lot of companies have stopped using sugar alcohols, and replaced it with Sucralose. For example Blue Bell Ice Cream stopped using sugar alcohols in their no sugar added ice cream, and replaced it with Sucralose. That change happened in 2015 after they had a listeria outbreak linked to Blue Bell ice cream.

What does monk fruit do to ur body because stevia caused me to have burning of the mouth and burning of the feet and nerve pain I use 2 pkgs for my tea and I drink 16 oz 4 times a day that’s monk fruit
Hi, I use pure monk fruit by SweetMonk. I did some research and it seems it’s neither Fructose nor Glucose that makes up its sweetness. Instead it’s sweetness comes from a unique antioxidants called mogrosides. Wonder if you would chose to explore scientific research on benefits of Mogrosides for a future video? Health link claims they help in: May modestly reduce weight, Anti-inflammatory, prevent damage to DNA, and protect from diabetes. Anyways. I am talking about 100% pure monk fruit. Not mixed. I would find this a very interesting topic and would love to see you cover it.

I don't like saccharin for anything other than tea, but I think it's the best thing for tea. The bitterness gives it an almost citrus flavor in tea. I only use half a packet in a glass of tea, so that half a packet is generally my maximum daily intake. As for it being a carcinogen, I thought that topic was put to rest 20 years ago, but now that you mention it, I found some articles saying there is still a concern, just nothing clearly stating what that concern is. I remember the surgeon general's warning on Sweet'N Low when I was a kid, and some places outright banned saccharin, because it caused bladder cancer in male lab rats. It was later determined that the mechanism that caused the cancer in rats was irrelevant to humans, so the warnings were removed. I recently read a study that saccharin and some other artificial sweeteners may have anti-cancer properties because they bind to and block an enzyme that the tumors need to survive. I'm not sure about the insulin spike from saccharin, but I think the biggest concern may be that some people can have an allergic reaction to it.

Saccharine is among the longest studied food additives in history. There were some studies that showed bladder cancer in mice but that was many times higher dose than anyone would reasonably use. Studies also show that it does not contribute to blood sugar levels. I appreciate your videos and agree with you 99% of the time but I did a deep dive on sweeteners years ago. Also I realize raw sugar isn't "keto" but as far as sweeteners go it's probably the healthiest choice if you keep it to a minimum.
Thomas, thanks for another helpful, educational video 🙏. The face you're making in the "Not Thomas Approved" picture looks as if you just realized you consumed too much erythritol, and now must find the nearest restroom 😂!
"Pick your poison". AMEN. A lot of that stuff really is poison. Aspartame is linked to at least 96 different side effects, none of them good, and aspartame poisoning is actually a thing. I quit aspartame about 8 years ago and have felt so much better. I have tried Allulose and I like it. Stevia is way too sweet for me and I don't like the bitter aftertaste. I like that Allulose is really not that sweet, as I don't like really sweet stuff.
The data I researched says aspertame is a neurotoxin. I guess quantity of ingestion makes a difference. For example I knew a woman addicted to diet cokes with aspertame. The combo couldn't be good over a length of time.

The whole video I wa curious about the bag of Pyure. Glad you mentioned it. I may have to switch my sweetener.
Why not just blend the coconut sugar with Monkfruit for better flavor?
Please, a timestamp for allulose?? Thanks!!
I think the natural flavors is for blunting the possible bitter after taste.
Purecane REB-M is the one to go with.
Just wondering for those who live in Australia 🇦🇺 What the equivalent would be to the Thomas approved brands/sweeteners like the liquid one he put in his trolley? Thanks!
Wait, what about allulose??
This video seems to be really focusing on a keto slant for sugar substitutes ..do you have one JUST for healthy ingredients only standpoint?
I just picked up that same stevia in the raw package and it has maltodextrin now is that worse?
What are your thoughts on allulose?
He has supported it in past sweetener videos he has made.
When did you decide to nix Erithrytol? It was one of your favored sweeteners in a previous video?
I think he was saying to try to avoid it with fasting. I believe he has multiple viewer bases, e.g. keto, fasting, diabetic, etc. I think as far as keto, he's usually okay with it.
Just buy SweetLeaf brand Stevia. It has no additives, ZERO glycemic index, won't break a fast, & tastes good
Sweetleaf brand Stevia is the best in my opinion. It has no dextrose, erythritol, or any other additives, & it's also not bitter & has a ZERO glycemic index
What about that monk fruit sweetener is that bad as well??
There is a big giant allulose in the thumbnail, but I don’t think you mentioned it at all.
Supermarket announcement,,, can Mr Lesco Brandon please come to the front register,,,,,, Lesco Brandon
you didnt mention the pure organic stevia powder with no additives
Can't get hold of monkfruit and allulose in UK unfortunately.
What about pure allulose+monk blend?
I am highly allergic to saccarin. Found out about 35 years ago that the diet sodas, ice tea, and other diet things at the time were making me very sick. Was definitely this substance as a doctor tested me and we eliminated items until we found the culprit. Haven't been that sick since.
I also am allergic to it. I figured it out real fast so I haven't had to much consumption of it but enough to know. Horrible stuff
What about the stuff in small white paper packs with the label sugar in blue? That okay?
That's what I use is the Pyure liquid. Love it. It's the only one I could find without a bunch of crap in it.
Good information. Hard work to check, verify, translate and interpret alot of those small labels
Very helpful. Thanks
Hi Thomas just want to ask is 100% honey good for a sweetener for coffee in the morning or in anything with need sweetened thanks , anyways you're vlogs are so informative keep it up, stay safe and God bless.
Honey will spike your insulin the same as table sugar will. Use SweetLeaf brand Stevia. It has no additives, ZERO glycemic index, won't break a fast, & tastes great in both coffee & tea
@@colleenkaralee2280 It increases insulin sensitivity, but I've never heard of it causing an insulin response. I'm not sure who told you this?
@@colleenkaralee2280 Well, it kinda matters cause you bothered to mention it to me. I've searched all over & can't find any info about pure stevia causing any sort of insulin response. Many brands of stevia also contain small amounts of dextrose or erythritol which will cause a spike in blood sugar, but the brand I use is just pure stevia with no fillers
@@toddlesiak3837 Like yourself I could not find the research article referenced in my intermittent fasting mentor's book, "Delay Don't Deny", and a proponent of "clean fasting".
You know, I don't know why I'm making such a big deal of it and I will delete my reply on the subject.
I do a lot of dryfasting and I keep autophagy rev'd up by not putting anything in the body irregardless, so maybe that explains my fussiness.
@@colleenkaralee2280 I don't really think you're being fussy. Thanks for the info
What's your opinion on the brand Swerve?
3:25 Thats the one they use on Diet 7up and Sprite
Thoughts on Better than sugar brand stevia?
Great information, thank you.
A lot of people who are on Keto or diabetic don't take into consideration ALL ingredients in these sweeteners and the additives/preservatives are just as bad for the body.
Erythritol gave me the worst anxiety I’m never eating again
I use to love the sugar free root beer packets to put in water. I was drinking about 6 a day. Thought I was doing good drinking all that water. Nope my A1c was the same very high. Turns out it was the sugar substitute had a higher glycemic index than sugar. So all my fasting didn't count. I never knew
I only use the pure stevia extract for stevia products. Usually the powder.
Sucralose is good for Keto?
the truvia packets had natural flavors too
Pure Monk fruit extract. Is that ok?
He has a video on Monkfruit he recommends it. I personally don't like the taste but I use it.
Sooo…there is still no healthy replacement out there for white sugar. I tried monkfruit and realized anything with a “tol” or “nol” at the end of it makes me gassy and bloated. Soo no on those..then what can i use to replace white sugar besides coconut or brown sugar which would taste weird in my coffee. Cuz i am not a fan of coconut either….😩😩
Thanks for sharing the data on saccharine - I'll rethink it.
@@colleenkaralee2280 Feel free to do your own search. I may be wrong and I'm open to new info.
I didn't see you mention Allulose. Did I miss it?
What do you think of Xylitol??
