Great video! I changed my countershaft to a 17, and purchased a 4 tooth smaller on the rear to keep up with freeway traffic. I also had to do a mod. for the battery box, from plastic to a steel. These motorcycles are excellent for a VERY low cost commuter bike, and still have lots of fun for trail riding. I so regret selling my bike. I wonder if the fuel injected is better, or worse. I did, however, realize Octane is VERY important. 87 octane, I only got 68 MPG, and 93 octane I was getting 80+ MPG, and Lots more pep!
I love my tbr7. I ride it to my cabin every other weekend. I got it titled in may and now have 4500 miles. Actual miles not kilometers. Change the oil every 5-700 miles it takes just a quart and you will get more than your moneys worth
You should always change the chain and both sprocket when ever you put a new one on as they will wear quicker if you don’t. Not a major thing but something to consider
Im pretty sure u can just cut the wires that connect to the turn signals to stop the beeping. And still have the blinkers work. Look up online wich ones. On my 2020 hawk they got rid of that.
Josh face it... you love the bike!!! I have the same bike, same color, don't abandon your baby. You can add a 42 tooth rear sprocket and gain a good amount of speed ( although you said that is not your goal )
What does the 42 tooth sprocket do for cruising at lower rpms ? ? ? I have a tbr7 and will consider this mod along with the 17 tooth sprocket I put in the front.
@@starman2671 I actually went with the 44 tooth ( not the 42 tooth - which makes the gearing too tall and kills the acceleration ). 17 tooth front and 44 tooth rear is a dream for cruising at low RPMs on street, but still enough torque to launch. I just posted a video on my channel for the rear sprocket installation, super easy so long as you have a snap ring pliers.
I got the tbr7 and just change the 15 to a 17 teeth sprocket and the chain is extremely tight. How did you fix that issue? This you get a longer chain? My axel won’t go forward anymore so I was wondering how you fix that problem? Thanks
You probably need to go to a chain with 2 more links than you have now. I ordered a 130link along with a 17t front and 45t rear. Not here yet, but that should be long enough and I can take out the extra if there are any.
You mentioned that some people shouldn’t be getting a bike like this when you showed the letgo post for a hawk. I just turned 17 and don’t have a lot of money to spend on a motorcycle but have always been interested in them. I don’t mind doing maintenance myself and would like to get one I could mess around with and mod without too large of a financial commitment. Would you recommend something like this to me?
I mainly was interested in a bike like this to learn what I was doing and if I would really enjoy it before someday dropping thousands on a name brand bike
Christopher Frank If you want a dual sport for on road use this is a good cheap choice. I won't really off road my tbr7 anymore because it's fragile compared to my Yamaha and Honda. It's really heavy compared to a name brand bike. With these mods mine does about 76mph but it's not a highway bike either. I'm doing a 30 mile commute each way mostly between 45 mph and 60mph and it's ok for that. Hope that helps.
Keep it up, you're gonna need a tetanus shot. You sawed your carb. lol If it don't have a scratch, it isn't a dual sport. It's pretty yes, but yesterday for me, I pulled all my decals off. I like just white. Also, today, I let out 5 ish pounds of air out of the tires. They seemed to be way over inflated. It rides more better on the rocks out here. Thanks for sharing.
These are not dual sport? Then why is everyone riding on the street? I thought they were. I was wanting to buy one but I'm not sure at 5 feet 7 I can sit on it flat footed. And that is something I require.

How many miles now ?
I am glad I will only be taking 35mph strolls down my local beautiful mountain road and jump into the forest to search for elk sheds!
Man. nice i know this is a older video, after you put in the 105 main jet did you have to adjust the air screw !
Na, Never touched it, But that don't mean it was right.

Try balancing your wheels maybe the vibration will not be that much

Lol you weren't kidding!! Rip finger tip 😢.
Should think about cutting one of the wires to the stupid turn signal beeper.
Are you near Narragansett RI??? I think I recognize those buildings
From my childhood
It's actually illegal in some places to have a tinted face shield on a helmet....just saying.
17 in the front will get you 60mph down the road all day long.
where did you get your skidplate? Please!!
I like your Yamaha, how much was it? What is it and what year? The only thing is I think it would sit too tall for me.
99 XT 225 $1,500, The XT 225 sits lower and is 100lbs lighter than the Tbr7. The Yamaha XT 225 is a better bike.
Where did u put those tools
Where can u get front caliper from for tbr7?
You say the bike is too tall? May I ask how tall you are? I'm about 5'8" myself.
5'9"
Hey just orderd this bike cant wait for it
Same here can’t wait!
Is that the valves ticking that I heard while you were riding?
I don't think so, I checked them new and at 1,000km and they were tight if anything. Unfortunately it's probably far worse than ticky valves.
What's the best high performance carburetor I can get for my tbr7
I don't know, I never changed my carb.
Hey do you know what ever happened to that schwinn scooter lol
What’s the link for the carburetor
Stock carb

Its a great first bike. Its not a dirtbike, but it will do any trail you want if its not to wet and you keep it slow over the bumps
