GT Harmonica. This is another fantastic tutorial. I've always loved this tune. Thanks for doing this tutorial. Gives me another great piece to learn/ add to my repertoire, along with your phenomenal tutorial" Bye Bye Bird." In another thread you mention adding teaching on octaves, splits etc,. This is of great learning interest to me. I do use them. However, it would be awesome of you to add this teaching into your tutorials. I for one would really like to get your perspective; techniques ; when and where to use them; etc,. Whatever your willing to share. So as to become more knowledgeable, and better octave, splits player (s). I've only ever learned octaves, splits on my own. Never had any professional insights into them. Properly used with knowledge they seems to be an invaluable keystone to music. So your incredible teachings etc, on them; I feel can really advance my knowledge; perspective and playing skills for using them. 😊. Thanks for graciously giving your time and expertise to help us out here in the harmonica world. Thanks and Peace ✌️ .
My go to tutorial for John Henry! Got the melody and now working on the octaves. I came back to see what to do when you started the -3 part, now I know to just play the melody after the octaves. Anyway there's a lot to work on here, thanks for putting this out there! 🙏💙🎶
@@gregdickson7510 sure, so it’s essentially adding the same note an octave lower via tongue blocking creating a doubling of the sound. So in this case you can play holes 4 draw and 1 draw together, Blow hole 5 and blow 2, blow hole 6 and blow 3. Your tongue does the job of blocking the two holes in between. It changes a bit more up the harmonica but this is enough to get you started for this tune. If you guys are interested I’ll add a tongue blocking lesson so you can understand all the octaves, then there are splits as well
Yep G harmonica. This example uses the major pentatonic in 2nd position. You can then add in Mixolydian and blues scales to add a bit more dissonance intermittently

יThat's harmonica G right. What scale does the son play?
