Was in Sligo 5 yrs ago and a local says to me a train takes you to Ballymote where Brother Walfrid was from So I decided to go 30 min journey , glad I went it’s right outside train station so easy to find a great day for me . So proud of my Irish roots 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
As a 28 year old Bayern Munich fan, I have travelled throughout Europe supporting Bayern. Sadly, I have never been to Ireland or Scottland yet, which is definitely on my list now thanks to your videos. I have subscribed for about a year and I used to only watch Celtic vs Rangers game on tv. Your videos have made me follow the scottish prem and even pay attention to other, lesser known teams such as hearts or hibs. Keep up the great work and I hope to greet you in Germany someday!
Well as a bayren fan you better come to Ireland as a tourist because Irish clubs hardly never get the chance to play in European completions, our league has no backing from the Irish football association, we sell all our best players to bigger clubs for peanuts because the financial mess of clubs here is ridiculous

As a Kerins, whose grandfather moved to Dublin from Sligo, this was like watching "Who do you think you are?" for me. I was told once or twice by my dad that a relative of mine from Sligo "helped set up Celtic". Didn't even know his name until now and didn't realise that he was held in this much regard, statues and stuff. Great video.
I'm related in some way on my Dad's side; Peter Keaveney, my grandfather, was born in Ballymote and I believe his mother may have been a Kerins. Unfortunately, I can no longer ask as he passed in 2011. Crazy to think, though, isn't it.

Hi Sam. I wish i caught up with you in my home town of Sligo. Loved the video, but you missed out on another Sligoman who was as equally important as Brother Walfrid to Glasgow Celtic F.C.. Sean Fallon was born in Sligo town and spent 30YRS at Celtic as a player, coach and Assistant manager to Jock Stein. 10 of the 11 Lisbon Lions were already signed by Sean before Jock arrived as manager. He's also credited with discovering Kenny Dalglish among others. There's a real argument that Sean was the greatest talent scout in English football history. His force of personallity convinced many Celtic legends to sign and this ultimatly added to the history of this great club. The 31st of July this year will mark the 100th birthday of Sean Fallon, a Celtic Legend.

You should head too sligo and check out Sligo rovers Showgrounds an impressive little stadium with a 5,500 capacity it has an outdoor museum essentially, the club is totally community based and they have completed feasibility plans too redevelop the stadium.

Brother Walfrid named Celtic but, sounding Keltic & called them it until the day he died. It was to bring the 2 Celtic ( Keltic ) people together but, with the influx of the Protestant people from the North wanted nothing to do with it ( for religious reasons, they hate Catholics )& adopted the old rangers as their club. Celtic are not a Catholic club as we are continually addressed as! We are a football club which was founded by a Catholic member of the church to help Irish Immigrants in Glasgow to survive impoverishment! The food kitchens which were operating were not sectarian but given the areas they operated in were mostly used by Irish Immigrants who were Catholics! The club unlike other institutions have never been against signing persons from any race religion or colour! A significant contribution has been made by people (non catholic) to our glorious history and such we should not be called a Catholic club, but a club for all! 👍🍀🏴🇨🇮
Joseph. Celtic were founded specifically to fund the St Vincent de Paul's Poor Children's Dinner Tables in the parishes of St Michael, St Mary's and Sacred Heart. I'd like to think that nobody was turned away but the intention was for only children from those parishes to be fed. In the early days Celtic were very much seen as being from the Irish Catholic community. You are correct in saying that we did not have any issues who played for us unlike other Irish clubs such as Hibs who had a Catholic only policy

I am from ballymote not a ballymote celtic fan as such more of a GAA fan ,but i will tell yo what i know Ballymote celtic are a local club or a sunday league equivalent.Basically the same people who play and are involved in the GAA club are Involved in ballymote celtic there is a bit of fixture conflict though but generally thats the way it is.Usually however in rural areas its just the GAA club and if there is a soccer club they don't get on ,but not in ballymote both codes are more or less on an equal footing
The statue unveiled by Sean Fallon - Sean Fallon played for glenavon. He then moved to Celtic and played alongside Bertie Peacock who played for coleraine and glentoran. 3 clubs you went to on the ground hopping video 😎

Glentoran is the 1st British club to win a European Cup. Ballymote Celtic currently play somewhere between tier 7 & 12 finished 11th out of 12 in the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League

You shouldn't forget the first Irish club in Scotland,HIBERNIAN which was founded by Irish immigrants in Edinburgh in 1875 13 years ahead of Celtic.
Definitely wouldn’t forget. Hibs were the inspiration! I gave them a mention a bit later in the video whilst at the plaque 👌🏽

You are correct in saying that we did not have any issues who played for us unlike other Irish clubs such as Hibs who had a Catholic only policy

It was Bobby Lennox (not Archie Gemmel) who was from Saltcoats,but its difficult to remember everything! My grandpa was an Irish catholic from County Tyrone,so this was a very interesting video mate!
As a Rangers fan Lennox was actually from Saltcoats.

I am from ballymote not a ballymote celtic fan as such more of a GAA fan ,but i will tell yo what i know Ballymote celtic are a local club or a sunday league equivalent.Basically the same people who play and are involved in the GAA club are Involved in ballymote celtic there is a bit of fixture conflict though but generally thats the way it is.Usually however in rural areas its just the GAA club and if there is a soccer club they don't get on ,but not in ballymote both codes are more or less on an equal footing

Ballymote Celtic would be playing in the Sligo/Leitrim district league which would be the local soccer league, most county's in Ireland would have a District league it would be considered the lowest level of football in Ireland, it's goes Loi, leinster/Munster/Ulster senior leagues and then the district leagues
