Did a rough build with what I had on hand and it turned out pretty good. Once I can safely go to a hardware store again to get the screw insert and a better wing nut screw I’ll give it another go. Attaching the sandpaper to the ruler blew my mind, great idea!
There was me thinking I would have to router the grooves. Brilliant use of sticking down the sandpaper. I think I will use your knob making jig instead of a wing nut. Very well produced videos.
Hello Tommy, this was actually a thin piece of acrylic. So I used scissors and sanded the edges afterwards. If it was thicker, then probably a circular saw or a trim router.
Thank you, Boris, much appreciated. The Gauge is great. I am using it for almost every project. Currently I am designing a new one, looking forward to it. Thanks! 😉
Excellent tool for beginers, the only missing info is size of the wing nut & wood insets.Never seen such a clear info in description box..Thanks once again..

This design is one of the simplest and most widespread, but it has several problems. First, the expansion, contraction, and moisture of the wood can cause the ruler to bind or become excessively loose. On the other hand, the wood wears quickly against the metal, especially in contact with the edges of the rule. And finally, using a soft wood will make the previous points even more critical. This problem has already been demonstrated in some videos. The best thing is that the rule slides on a totally metallic piece. I would also recommend that the tool be disassembled so that the inner foil can be replaced if it breaks, which I think should also be metal.
I cannot stop watching this genius at work, I would like to be able to make some of what he does.
Thank you so much :)
Очень интересная идея! Обязательно постараюсь повторить!
Omg, he routed a dado groove with sandpaper and a ruler! Amazing.
Hi Junaidi, thank you. ;) And works really well.. :D

Thank you, really appreciate it! 👍 Let me know how it turns out for you, I'm curious. The sandpaper jig works amazingly well.

Thank you Billy, much appreciated :)
This is the best idea I ever learned at RUclips. I like it, thank you.
Glad you like it! Thank you :)
I didn’t see you check anything for square but it seemed pretty square. How did you do that? Did you check and just not show it on video?
Hello Alivia, yes, I did it off camera. I checked with a machinist square and made sure the sanding jig rails are perfectly parallel to each other.
This is very simple design. I like it. I will try soon!
Thank you. much appreciated :)
Chanceless sir
Genial, trataré de hacerme unas cuantas, Gracias por el aporte. Un abrazo desde Lima Perú.
Hola, muchas gracias. Me alegro que le guste. Espero que le salga bien. Abrazos
Very good and simple idea. How do you cut the acrylic glass? (I have never worked with it.)
Hello Tommy, this was actually a thin piece of acrylic. So I used scissors and sanded the edges afterwards. If it was thicker, then probably a circular saw or a trim router.
@@AllFlavorWorkshop Thank you :-)
Formidable, facile à comprendre pour le faire, Thank you
Thank you too Liliane. Glad you liked the video and found it useful. 👍
The piece of acrylic was put in so you don’t mark up the ruler?
Hi Scott, pretty much yes. I was looking for something flexible that would not damage the ruler. And it presses down the ruler quite nicely. 👍
@@AllFlavorWorkshop thanks!
Really like the yellow ruler. What is the brand and the source of purchase?
Hello friend 🙏🤝🇮🇩🇮🇩
So simple but so useful in every workshop. I like how you paid attention to the details. Thanks for sharing Lukas 👍

Where did you purchase your yellow ruler.
I bought the yellow ruler at my local store. Let me take a look if there's one online too. ;)

Great build! Ingenious sanding the groove using the ruler!

The screw with the wing nut ?
Hi John, you can either get it at the store or you can make one by gluing a wing nut to a threaded rod.
FELICITACIONES!!
Muchas gracias Javier. 👍
No entiendo...si la tuerca o tornillo lo pones a ras...como y donde entra la mariposa para ajustar la regla y como ajusta la regla
Thanks for a nice and interesting video.👍👍
I thank you too. 👌
