I would’ve loved a forest temple. Ocarina of time’s forest temple didn’t do it for me but the forest temple in twilight princess did, also did you know there was a scrapped two-headed flame Gleeock? One more thing, i feel like we should have gotten deku scrubs or deku babas in totk, especially since the deku tree was cursed by ganondorf in this game like oot, and honestly if we got a forest temple, it would have been better in korok forest than faron, mainly because korok forest has a few shrines and side quests. There is no main quest there apart from saving the deku tree just to tell you where the master sword should be when you could just get the “memories” instead, to me korok forest had wasted potential in this game.

Yeah, that was their original plan for Ocarina of Time, hence why The Forest Medallion actually looks like a depiction of wind and not a leaf.
The dungeons were an improvement, but I think further improvements are needed: the dungeon puzzle mechanics need to be more unique and not copy and paste. Every other Zelda Title got this right except for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

@@ZeranZeran I can agree with that, though I do have a bit of a theory that Botw and Totk is either a Forgotten time line or a shadow timeline. It'd explain why no one there knows of the Triforce due to keeping it out of the books and why Zelda at the end of Botw had all three pieces and had no clue what they were. Like the Shadow timeline could of misplaced certain terrain like why is Pinnacle Rock by the Gerudo desert when it's always been by death mountain? How did the Goddess Statue from Skyward Sword that had been located to the South east suddenly ends up in the North west? Basically when creating it the "Goddesses" just took bits and pieces from each timeline to form Botw and Totk.

i think a forest temple would make more sense for korok forest. like there was already the little quest of having to ascend up and then kill phantom ganon, but it wouldve been even cooler if it was a full temple and you had a little korok companion helping you with puzzles before you finally kill some "scourge of korok forest". like maybe you go to korok forest and some korok tells you that somethings wrong and then you crawl down some deep cave inside the deku tree and activate terminals to go further down and finally kill the boss

i could imagine meeting a couple very distraught koroks near the various chasms around the forest who tell link that the deku tree is very sick / cursed and that they need help because they can‘t enter the forest anymore.
they explain that the deku tree made the fog way denser in an attempt to keep whatever it is out, but failed and now not even link or zelda could enter to help.
they tell link they want to help the tree and that the chasms look similar to what was making the tree sick a d they know the roots of the tree are down there. so they want to enter, but they‘re scared and wanted to wait for someone to help them.
something like that, maybe? i just thought it was a little odd how players were just supposed to somehow figure out on their own that the only way to get into the forest is the depths…

Tbh, to me, the "Forest Temple" was the Lost Woods. You needed to go into the Depths go up a special place using Ascend, save the Deku Tree and Koroks from the Gloom Hands + Phantom Ganondorf.
If you want to say that this technically isn't a dungeon, it does give you the location of the Master Sword as well as Memory 01.
But, you forget that the Zonai Temple of Faron, was the Spirit Temple. Making you go through a surface puzzle, then you needing to go to the thunder isles, then go down into the surface, build a robot, and finally walk through the Faron Depths to get to the boss room.

  • @henrykrebs6367
    @henrykrebs6367 Год назад +6

I think there could be about 10 of these dungeons in the game of course keeping the 5 original ones, but also maybe instead of the temple of time on the great sky island it could be temple of light and raurus spirit helps you, and idk know what the ability could be but the boss could definitely be Dark Link, and after you get the secret stone at the end link becomes the sage of light. And for the forest temple it could be in the lost woods and either chio or hestu could go with you and the ability could be entangling objects or enemies with vines that could keep stuff in place or disarm them, it could be located in the the and for the boss it could be soul keeper Poe. And for a shadow temple it could have paya as the sage and her ability is throwing her hat and cast a shadow of darkness over objects and enemies and in the case of enemies it could actually control them to help you, and the dungeon could be in a portal through the ring ruins to a twilight-like realm and the boss could be twili-bongo. And this is extremely unlikely but for an earth temple it could be a Minish and it’s ability could be earthwake on steroids(you would have an armor set to become tiny), the dungeon would be in akkala citadel and the boss could be none other than harbinger ganon, it’s very complicated. And just a quick note I would change the spirit temple and that instead of ninety being the sage, dragon head island would be a zonai village and you take a new zonai sage with you. And finally the temple of time, you would unlock this dungeon after seeing all of the dragon tears and pretty much everything else in this game and there would be one of those secret stone pedestal now there and you see the cutscene at the beginning of the game where you get recall but now it is here instead and it would pretty much be an even stronger recall where you can use it on enemies and other stuff, and you would stay in the sages realm where all the sages get their secret stones and you would go to the unruined temple of time and there you would have to do the normal dungeon stuff and once you get to the boss it turns out to be: The Imprisoned Darknut, and during this temple you would have Zelda following you because you can communicate and interact with her in this realm. And after beating imprisoned darknut, you use all of the sages vows to weaken the draconifacation so zelda can break free of her dragon form when ganondorf is defeated. That was a lot, but I think totk is already a great game and what I just said would just be in the most perfect world, but it is fun to think about these things.

I think the DLC should add another layer to the World, a "Core" or "Flipped" World that reflects the Sky Islands.
It would look similar to the Depths AND the Twilight Realm. The Islands would mirror the Sky Islands, and would have a skeletal version of the King Gleeok that are in the Sky.
The "Light Roots" that sink through the Surface and Depths would act as rope "bridges" to travel from the Depths to this lowest layer.
You could easily have another Quest in this area that COULD (but most likely won't) have the last Shrines to max out the Hearts AND Stamina.
Hide more of the "Sage's Wills", and overall make the World feel just a tad bit bigger.
(The focus in this layer would be to fly around over a Void? Or Lava? Or even just a dark watery grave full of Stal- enemies when you get too close to it...)
You'd have to Build a flying contraption or have enough Stamina to climb the roots between the Islands so you don't fall into the void/lava/stal-lake.
Plus, they could hide lore about the underground race we see in the statues (the hyena/dog-like statues that aren't quite the Zonai, but similar?)
And if they wanted to make them just a bit different than the Sky Islands, maybe some of these rocks are broken? Or sinking into the bottomless depths?

I kinda thought you'd go with bringing back Kass for the Forest Temple. Or failing that! Maybe using Penn as the guide (pen being mightier than the sword, just not the Master Sword, obviously)? Then, if we follow that route, maybe a statue of Kass at the end. We'd get a solution to what happened there - 'cause we don't know (or do we, is it DLC?). Or maybe even have Hestu (or an offspring called "Saria" (yes, THAT Saria))?

It makes sense there isn't a "forest" temple because it's not an element. Fire, water, wind, and lightning are all elements. "Forest" isn't an element. What I wish this new Hyrule had was thicker forests. Something like the forest Link stumbles through in the intro of "Majora's Mask". A Redwood forest, essentially.

All existing temples had the lead-up trials which were the first part of the dungeon. Some could have been surpassed or advanced passed each's start with zonai flight devices, but generally, they required a solve-all before getting to the actual Temple.
Looking at the Spirit Temple, Thunderhead Island, and assembling of Mineru's parts are a pretty lengthy dungeon. They act very similarly and are pretty length.
There could have been a Forest "area" that was not the temple, but an actual Forest Temple would have needed its own trial and dungeon lead-up. Since all 5 were chunky on their own, plus due to all the open world exploration, a 6th might have felt too much to some players. I would have liked it but then would not have had the energy to uncover the entirety of the Depths or Sky.

I was just watching theory videos and realized in Skyward Demise who talks about being defeated before has a scar on his head where link stabs him in totk. I wonder if it was intentional. It could just be a nod to other games, and the unified timeline theory seems more and more believable. Like the goddess of time tried to fix it all by messing all the timelines into one new timeline, instead of having the timelines meet up far in the future of both. Which would explain why there is familiar stuff but now of the canon history from any of the timelines. And aim waiting for the. To say the Rito came from the skyloft birds, instead of Zora.

Hot take, but I missed there being a Shadow Temple a bit more. They could've used their 'darker' aesthetic and tone very well for that, especially with the Gloom Hands being so similar to the dead hand. Or they could've brought it back as that areas boss, somehow..... Also, it may have been said, I honestly haven't scrolled comments yet, but I remember hearing the Forest Temple was supposed to be Wind and Water was Ice, at one point in early development, but they couldn't get the mechanics down so went with Forest/Water. Perhaps a future DLC could give us access to further temples? As for it requiring extra sages...maybe it wouldn't, if those temples were to, say....exist in a land our bestest birb friend Kass takes us to, where he's been exploring during the events of TotK.

Ok so -"clickbaity" title- aside, I _love_ forest dungeons in zelda. The overgrown nature aesthetic combined with ruins or some sort of mysterious place is almost inviting for the player to get lost in it exploring. I also thought about how there wasn't much in the zonai ruins now and since that was pretty much the main point of research on the zonai in botw, I wish they had a forest dungeon. It'd work SO well, like look at the room where you find mineru's mask for example! Gorgeous.
Not sure if I agree on zelda having a traditional dungeon format again as innovating the dungeons is something I do like to see! Not saying totk's are perfect though, tons to improve on. The game _technically_ had 6 dungeons cause hyrule castle gives you a heart container at the end of a boss, but I'd have liked to see them sacrifice some of the shrines (and quests for blessings) for a bit more dungeon content!
Edit: oh yeah and would totally love to explore the places in the past like where mineru was sitting, it looks so cool

The Secret/Sacred Stone of the Forest is lost is why.
In ocarina of time when Link and Zelda look through the window at Gannondorf, Link has the stone of forest.
When Zelda goes back in time in ToTK we see the same moment of history through her perspective. Zelda and Rauru foolishly give Gannondorf spoilers that a person named Link will defeat him. Which gives Gannondorf a reason to kill (OoT Link) before he has a chance to stop him.
Which finally gives us an explanation for the Downfall timeline beyond the player getting bored and turning OoT off. Wherever the OoT Link died is likely the resting place of the Forest Stone as well, absent from Rauru’s imprisoning war and from the history the dungeons draw from in ToTK. Perhaps we will rediscover the Forest Stone in a DLC or third game in the “of the” sequence.

Idk really know how they’d include it but my one critique totk is there aren’t too many bosses for real. So idk it would’ve been cool if they brought back at least a few bosses that were revamped

Faron is supposed to be the spirit temple & Central Hyrule has the castle & the great sky island (which I sometimes feel like also counts as a dungeon) Akkala & Necluda dont have their own. This is arguably bcuz Necluda has the regular hylians. It could've perhaps had a shadow temple for the Sheikah, but this could clash w/ how Purah will likely be the new sage of spirit. I'm not so sure about Akkala. But I still feel we have 2 great candidates

  • @davidnystrom9059
    @davidnystrom9059 Год назад +1

Completely agree. Building an additional dungeon, especially one focused on lore building, would have been spectacular. The way it’s set up now, you have your main 4 (Wind, Fire, Water, then Lightning) followed by a dungeon built for Link in Hyrule Castle. Then we get the quest for Mineru and take on the Zonai Factory and Spirit Temple in succession. Then… that’s it. If there’d been an optional dungeon even, one that provided maybe special armor, an additional heart/stamina wheel, or even just served to help the new sages grow closer as a team, that would have felt so good. And the “grow closer” idea could be its own idea too. Think of the dungeon DLC in BotW where skills from all over the game were combined. This is what that dungeon could look and play like, serving up lore and story at the same time.
Now, I’m not the biggest defender of BotW OR TotK in terms of story structure. Anybody who’s read my comments or heard me discuss it, knows I hit these games pretty hard for how they handle these things. Would an addition dungeon built on story requirements fix this issue? Probably not. But would it go to show that these ideas do matter and that the devs are still trying to build a cohesive story? Yeah, probably.
Anyway! Sorry, I kind of started to rant. I love the idea of a Forest Temple and think you’re totally right.
    Great video, as usual. Cheers!

You have to travel to Korok Woods to even begin the Quest.
Then find your way through the Depths to the Korok Grove, the Colosseum, then finally use Ascend.
You fight the Gloom inside the Deku Tree, and beat Phantom Ganon to purify the Forest of Gloom.
If you haven't Obtained the Master Sword yet, the Deku Tree gives you a special map objective point that moves around on the game Map.

i also found myself disappointed with the lack of changes in the faron region, especially considering it's supposed to be so connected to the zonai. if anything, totk has almost distanced the zonai and the faron region even more. the difference in the zonai architecture on the ground vs the sky, the lack of significant changes in their supposed native region, and the way that only one or two questlines lead you to faron despite the entire game being zonai themed have all served to almost separate the two in my mind. almost like the zonai from faron were an older set of zonai from when they lived on the ground. maybe by the time of the height of the zonai, these ruins in faron were already ancient, left by the zonai's ancestors.
when you enter the dragon pillars during the questline where you discover the thunder attack set, it seems like the modern zonai technology was just added on top of the ancient ruins.

Okay, it’s not exactly the same, as it’s not in a real dungeon. But you have the koroks as companions, you have a whole lost-woods vibe (even in the depths) and you have the classic forest temple boss in a phantom Ganon fight! So, yeah, I would consider that questline as a forest-temple-esque situation.

My reason for this crazy possibility is because Rauru's body is gone except his sealing hand and if Zonai live longer than any other race then why is the rest of his body gone but Ganondorf's is still there? Could it be possible that sometime before the first calamity ,in an attempt to reincarnate himself he tried using Rauru's body which in all honesty seems right up Ganondorf's alley but thanks to the power of light Rauru had the ancient hero resisted the influence of Ganondorf causing him to become the calamity thus the ancient hero becoming the hero in the first place

I think the problem here is: They are trying to step away from the dungeons that the series has always been known for, and considering "forest, fire, water" has always been how the series has been, I think that's part of why there was no forest temple. I think they did a great job stepping away from the norm with the Divine Beasts (also... the Divine Beasts absolutely were themed... They were literally lighting, fire, water, and wind themed, just like the dungeons in TotK... TotK did nothing different. It's even the same "hit 5 switches to unlock boss" mechanic). I actually found the temples and sages in this game to be worse than the Divine Beasts.
The sage powers are annoying to use (instead of "press button", you have to select the right person, then use the ability), and were objectively worse than the champion abilities (Tulin makes you go forward, Komali went up. Sidon's is literally useless. Riju's takes too long to charge. Yonobo's the only good one). While I think the whole of TotK is vastly better than BotW, the dungeons and sage powers were just... not good... (Not to mention, I really liked the cool 3D dungeon maps in BotW, and TotK's are just flat 2D maps).
As far as them actually adding a Forest dungeon to the game, I really think the only way they could have was via the Koroks. The problem is, in TotK, all the dungeons are in-world, not separate maps like in BotW. So, they couldn't just stick a dungeon in the Deku Tree, or spawn a dungeon in the Korok Forest. They probably could have stuck something in the Faron region, but as you posed the question "Who would be the sage?" To begin with, the Spirit Temple was already in Faron, so that already makes putting another dungeon in their redundant. But also, the lack of any NPCs that could have been the sage. Tulin, Riju, Sidon, and Yunobo were notable characters from BotW. Who is a notable NPC in the Faron region from BotW? There just isn't one...
So, unfortunately, I just can't agree that the game "needed a Forest Temple." Perhaps it's just me, but Nintendo is trying to revitalize the Zelda series because it has become so stale using the same formula. I know it sucks to see change, I know we're all used to the formula, but we as a community need to realize. If they did give us a Zelda game that used the old formula again, we'd all be back to complaining about how stale the series has become.
Also, as an unrelated side rant: BotW/TotK are part of a new timeline. While I don't think you've made videos on the timeline, I've already gotten so tired of people screaming "How does TotK fit into the timeline? How can Rauru's Hyrule be the first Hyrule? This game's lore is broken!" Like... it's a completely separate timeline, people. That's kind of the whole point of these games. (Mini rant over)

Imagine if there was a Forest Temple with a Zonai secret stone separate from the Spirit Temple, and the new Sage of Forest would be... Hestu. What even would Hestu's avatar do for you? I wonder...

He would intentionally crash the game and make you play Age of Calamity and forever main him.
      That’s what he would do.

    Simply put...
I think Nintendo is probably going to make a few dungeons for DLC, including a Forest Temple.

I expected a temple inside the deku tree, and I got all prepared and was like, oh, that was it?
