Why 4 doors. Trucks don't need 4 doors. Give me a true low cost 2 door truck with a bed that can hold a 4x8 sheet of wallboard. If a truck is advertised to cost $12K then it will certainly be sold of $27K or more. Any announcement of affordable truck is ALWAYS a lie!

Gas and diesel are expensive in Mexico. I have a Ford Transit Custom diesel van. Gets about 30MPG (converting from liters and kilometers). The Custom is a medium size van, popular in Europe. Best road trip vehicle ever for me
*IF* Toyota builds a Corolla pickup it'll arrive 2027 at the earliest and look nothing like the illustrations shown here, and it'll be smaller than the Tacoma (not between a Tacoma and a Tundra).

@@jongalindo6091 agree. EVs are popping up everywhere in my area in Southern U.S. Eventually many negatives about them like, long charging times, no replacement parts, low range, few charging stations etc etc will be fixed in next few years. EVs are here to stay.

I have a 2001 Tacoma, I too am asked multiple times a week if it's for sale. I always say it's not for sale but if it was you can't afford it! 😂 it just turned over to 160,000 miles the other day, it's barley broke in! Best truck I've ever owned!
I have one too, great truck I've put it threw hell and have had no major repairs, just the basics. Love the true ground clearance with nothing hanging to get caught up while cruising the woods. Almost 500K still going.
I have 2nd gen 2007 that I bought new. I love the 1st gens. Great Trucks.

Yeah it would really suck if it actually had an accurately descriptive name, it needs some meaningless made up word they paid some marketing whiz to fudge up.
It's like Toyota is running out of names.
Car and Driver has an article about this vehicle. Looking more like 2027 than 2025 though. And makes sense for Toyota to come out with this. After the Hyundai Santa Cruz and the Ford Maverick success it only makes sense for Toyota to come out with a vehicle of their own to compete. Pricing estimating for entry level $25,000 to fully equipped $38,000. Then doesn't include dealer markups etc. And based on the direction Toyota went with the Tacoma and 4Runner I would expect the mechanics to be similar to the 2025 Tacoma but with reduced power for it's size. I Actually hope they come out with this and stays close to it's concept styling. But change the name, use the Stout instead of Corolla Pickup.

I can appreciate the showing of the various truck. One thing I like to see more is a look at the bed talk about the size of it any features and also it appears in one or two shots that the back of the cabin opens up? So what size is the bed Length with the tailgate up and talk more about that?

Funniest part about this, is that we've had trucks like this in Australia for YEARS (for instance this looks suspiciously like the Toyota Hilux we have here) But now that Ford and Holden have closed in Australia, (meaning no more 'sports' utes) people are switching to the gas guzzling 'Murican land whales like Chevy and RAM to get there (ahem) mechanical compensation 'trucks'.
pickup used to be a bit above the price of a regular car , but today most pickup are more expensive than a mercedes , to all car makers make a cheap under $20,000 car or pickup and forget about all the toys like infotainment or electric side mirrors , give us the cars you sell in the third world at a cheap price and if I want to add any electronic toys I will have them added later if I have money to burn but stop pricing those cars out of the range of the average consumer.
I'll stick with Honda Ridgeline . V6 with 25 mpg and great towing if needed.

If this isn't a prank, because it's to sell at less than $25k, it will be so popular as to be sold out and unavailable... just like the Ford Maverick. That the plan?? I imagine it will also be possible to buy the new pick-up, or slightly used, at far above retail... just like the Maverick.
So by that, we're not trading our Maverick to do this again, although we have loved all our super-reliable Priuses. The other reason(s) to love Toyota is, either Toyota is an exceptionally honest and fair company or my dealer is, or both.

Just go back to basics. I miss those days when you actually had the option to get a vehicle where you could at least have a chance to install your own radio. They put all these “optional” things, but you cannot opt out of them and end up paying an arm and a leg.

I’ll stick with my tuned Z71 Colorado diesel with its excellent fuel economy and towing capacity. So glad I choose the diesel option when I did.

Hard Pass - Only reason I'm still in the market is because the Maverick's been sold out at every dealer and I've been bounced from the wait list TWICE. I want that +40mpg, seats 5(2kids+pets), can carry hurricane supplies in the back and bikes on the hitch. Florida's a loooooong state to evacuate from if there's a Cat3+ and you're stuck near Ft Lauderdale
Cheap price? Every picture you show looks like it will cost $80,000. You say it's cheap but show every picture as futuristic top of the line. There is no way every one of those pictures is going to be "cheap". Nothing but bait and switch.
Bigger than a Tacoma? Hmmm. I actually think they should have gone smaller than a Tacoma, like Ford did with the Maverick... And pick a different name, for Christ's sake! Why name a rugged truck after a boring starter-car for suburban white chicks? And I agree with other commenters. They'll find a way to eff it up by NOT providing what we're seeing in the pictures. If they made it look EXACTLY like it looks at the 11:29 mark, for example, I'd pay 50k for it right now. But they won't... They'll find a way to make it boring and dull.

These kinds of vehicles have been around in Australia and New Zealand for years, in 2 door and 4 2-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. They also come i diesel and petrol as well as a 6 cylinder. They must have decided to bring it out because of its popularity.

I see the same traditional concept with some good improvements at a premium price compared the basic small pick up Toyota become famous for.
Just look at the $2,000 Chinese pick up truck and see the possibilities.
