PS2 is the best one for me. Much more content, bigger maps and better graphics.
Pc version has modding capabilites, so pc has pretty much infinite content, but i agree ps2 is the best console version.

Besides the HD models (I kinda like HD models don't kill me) but honestly I do prefer ps2 half life than PC
@@aliennathan6089 I also like HD models, even more than the regular PC HD models or the 1998 ones. HL PS2 models are along with Counter Strike on the Xbox the most detailed i ever seen on a Goldsource game, at least on an official release (seriously, characters like Gina or Dr Keller could pass as Source ones).
I really wish they had finished the Dreamcast version, maybe even online multiplayer (like Quake 3 arena and Unreal Tournament) and maybe managed to improve frame-rate and loading-times.
I feel bad for the Dreamcast, it was a console with so much potential and it had so many titles canceled because of the discontinuation announcement so soon.
I don't think Half-Life PS2 even got online multiplayer.
I don't know why Half-Life Dreamcast would get it.
Actually it's said that the Dreamcast version would come with a second disc with online multiplayer modes, it would include even some popular mods like TF1 and CS. Since the game was never finshed on Dreamcast I wouldnt be surprise if this second version was never even made, but it's cool to know it would exist
If only Sega had made better decisions with their hardware in the past the Dreamcast wouldn't have paid for it.
The DC also had by far the best image quality, thanks to the VGA output, it had an immaculate 640x480p mode, the GC component @ 480p came fairly close, but still couldn't match the super crisp IQ of the DC, play the DC on a VGA CRT monitor, and you will be treated to a super vibrant high fidelity image that was only matched when the 360 was out, which also had VGA, the 360 could do 640x480p to 1280x960p 4:3 or up to 1080p 16:9 through VGA, it also looks absolutely gorgeous on a CRT monitor via VGA. The DC also had the best audio of all the systems of it era, and many years after in fact, thanks to it's dedicated 'Yamaha Super Intelligent Sound Processor', a 67mhz processor with 2MB RAM, it could do XG MIDI audio, FM Synth, full 3D support, DSP effects, 64 channel PCM sound, it was a power house, in comparison, all other consoles had generic Dolby PCM audio, though the OG Xbox did have the Nvidia Soundstorm, which was the only hardware accelerated Dolby Digital surround capable chip of that generation, the others were software/codec driven, still didn't compare to the awsome DC audio quality though, it's such a huge shame that the DC didn't get to see it's full potential, there is some incredible potential for ports or homebrew with real FM and MIDI audio, imagine some of the best PC games with native FM synth & MIDI sound ported to the DC and updated, yes please.
a few things I'd like to point out about each version of Half-Life,
on PS2 it uniquely has a aspect ratio toggle, I point out that this is unique because on PC you have to change the resolution to change the aspect ratio, on PS2 it stays at the same 512 x 448 resolution in 4:3 and 16:9.
the Dreamcast version is one of the two releases of Half-Life that don't have widescreen support without any form of modification (the original 1998 release of Half-Life on PC did not have widescreen support, Valve added that later)

They should’ve made a half life port for the n64, I think with a little bit lower res textures (64x64 or 128x128) and a slight reduced poly count, it could’ve ran 20-30 fps at 240p (the n64’s native res) and maybe a locked 30fps with the expansion pack.
the N64 cartridge could hold 64 megabytes max, porting half life to it is simply impossible

@Tifa Lockhart thats because most of the game files were pre-rendered videos, devs just had to compress those, half life as far as i know has real time cutscenes, not videos, so you can't really compress it too much
Maybe with a smaller version of the game. Maybe a tiny expansion pack what comes after the ending of blue shift. Since it only have a 64mb max.
Even PS1 would have to cut down levels to make it work. N64 with just 64 mb? No way.
Real shame the Dreamcast port never officially came out. Not only did it look cleaner than the PS2 port, but it technically really looked like a Dreamcast game. It would have fit right in with Sega's first party titles like Shenmue, Sonic Adventure and Skies of Arcadia.

@@powerpc64 I’ve played hl2 a bit and tf2 a lot, but I still know hl2 was only on the ps3 version and hl2 episode 1 or 2 was on Xbox 360. All original games were on Xbox 360 but on ps3 it was the orange box and extra games

@@tomianz-1242 The port was finished as the cancellation occurred a month before release. At least one gold version was created.
Whether the publicly leaked version is the final build or a slightly earlier build is unknown.

Yeah, the port was cancelled at the very last minute by Sierra due to Sega discontinuing the Dreamcast (there were even strategy guides for the Dreamcast version printed, that's how late it was cancelled). The build we have online is dated a little less than a month before the projected release date, so it's more or less finished, although it's not a particularly great port and pretty much pointless nowadays.

Are you using an HD version for the PS2? all your videos look like you're using HD version for the PS2
The models that came with the PS2 version are actually more detailed than the PC HD pack in some cases, especially the friendly NPCs.

@@sebastiankulche Highly doubt it.I have the original xbox version and there are some very low frame rates in some places but manageable.For ps2, i highly doubt it can handle it.There is a reason why farcry (allthough a different game) also came out on xbox but was canceled on ps2.The shaders and dynamic lights are just too much for the ps2. Make no mistake, ps2 can handle such tech, but it has to be a completely different build levels.
@@thesteammachine1282 Maybe i would agree if GT4, Jak 3, Black, God Of War 2 or MGS3 didnt exist, games that have bigger maps than HL2, are much more bigger in terms of size and look much more detailed. There's also a big list of PS2 games that uses the havok physics. Probably Valve not, but in an hypotetical situation, give that port to a company that knows how to exploit the hardware even more than Sony (Naughty Dog or Poliphony Digital) and they would do magic with that. Hell, i think HL2 could be also running on the PSP considering we have there also extremely looking games.

One, it's kind of annoying that you don't do all games all at once or all versions of said game all at once, if you were just playing the game as a let's play standpoint I would let it pass but since you're doing a comparison video I cannot, another issue in which I have is that you are not using the Windows 98 start icon for Windows. Windows back when the game was released is not the same as Windows when the game can be played today. Even though it does run, you are literally murdering the spirit of the original game.

I love dreamcast version, its just really unique and there's model changes which look better kinda looks like hl2 vortigaunts I like most the model changes like the H.E.V. suit. And all the aliens also, some are high res? while others are not but it looks a lot better.

The consoles frame rates are awful. But I suppose if you grew up with those versions and mainly played on consoles it may not matter that much. But going from PC to consoles is almost unbearable. It's just so slow.
