MY FISH ROOM BASEMENT FLOODED ... What Happened??

- A fish keeper's worst nightmare: my fish room flooded. In this video, I discuss how the flooding occurred, what I did to protect my fish tanks, and what's next for the fish room.
Having 4 inches of water in the fish room was not something I ever expected, but with a few simple steps, I was able to get through the issue. With some of the house renovations nearing completion, I'll turn my focus to the basement fish room again and get it looking good, livable, and something I'm once again proud to show all of you.

You appear to have a much better attitude towards this disaster than I would have had LOL. That really sucks man.
Appreciate it! I may not have been that calm when it was first happening haha
Sorry this happened to you and that you have a lot of repairs ahead of you. Hope your homeowners insurance covers most of it. Glad to see the fish are doing well thanks to the good neighbors you have. 👏
Sorry about your basement, Alec, but on the bright side, no fish loss! And always nice to have extra Pythons! lol Thanks for sharing. Good luck on all your renovations.
Thank you, really appreciate that!
Pretty fish tanks I'm sorry this happened in your home glad your fish was safe.
Lucky you weren't away on holiday and were there to see the flooding within hours! Stress....
Very true!
Huge shout out to your neighbors! Gotta keep them fish alive. Hope the clean up goes smoothly. Love and Peace.
Definitely, they saved me / my fish!
I am so sorry that happened Alec. Hoping for the least stress possible moving forward for you.
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Sorry to hear that. Love your guys content keep up the great work!
Thanks for watching!
When it rains it pours bro. I'm so sorry this happened. I had something similar happen in my basement a few months ago. A had a decent amount of water was appearing under my LVT flooring. I bought dehumidifiers thinking it was condensation, but based on the amount of water, I found it hard to believe it was the tanks. After a few days, I remembered that I had a pipe leaking when we first moved in, but it was fixed. Well at least it was supposed to be. I had to cut a new hole in the sheet rock and low and behold, the pex pipe fitting failed. I find it interesting that everyone is so quick to blame fish tanks when there's water on the floor, but sometimes the most obvious, isn't always the case.
Great video Detroit
ooof! glad u saved the fish… what a mess!!
Thank you! Happy it all worked out (for now)!
That's a nightmare for sure of mine. Im glad it wasn't your tanks.
Oh wow, sorry to see that. Hope the tanks stands didn’t get compromised with sitting in the water. Just glad all the fish are doing fine.
I’m sorry bro! It looks like you have a good handle on the situation. You’ll be laughing about it someday.
That's literally my nightmare.
Seeing the water in the basement was crushing.
Buy a home they said. It’ll be fun they said. 😂 Thanks for sharing that unfortunate situation with us, Alec!
So true! Thanks for watching!
When i saw the title. I immediately thought your sump overflowed 🤣
That sucks !! It's happend to me before as well. If those are stock stand i would inspect them closely, they don't do well once they are that wet a all !! After my flood mine started to bow a bit and once i move to a new house and moved the stand it basically fell apart in my hands.
Been there done that. When I saw the thumbnail I was worried about the tanks. Thank goodness your fish are alright.
Oh no……I feel for ya. Will you need to break down the tanks to put a new floor in? That’s a lot of work……Maybe give some thought to an epoxy poured floor…….Or stone tile. (Like built in pools) They would only need cleaning and not removal if it happened again. I know it’s stressful…..but try not to dwell….and keep looking forward.
Thanks! Will have to move the tanks around with the new flooring. But yeah I’m thinking nice tile this time
Damn bro
That’s one of my biggest fears is one of my big tanks popping, (knocks on wood).
Wow sorry to hear about all those issues. One thing I thought about while watching is maybe it's a good idea to get some kind of battery back up generator.i have one that I use for power outages and it will power all 5 of my tanks running just sponge filters and a wave maker on my big Cichlids tank. Just a thought
Glad it worked out for you guys. Looking at your predator hap tank they are all turning black so I wanna know do you think it's stress related? Judging by your sand do you think the constant flow of your crossflow is stressing them out?
How stressful! I’m so glad the fish are okay and nothing happened to your tanks. Was there any damage to the stands of the tanks from the water? Also, are you replacing the flooring in your basement? I ask because I’m going to replace the flooring in my house and I’m trying to figure out the logistics of moving a big tank out of the way, while keeping it going for the fish, when the old floors are removed and new ones being put down. Any tips?
That's sucks. Considering the sump was done a few years ago, can anything be done for the installers come warranty and pay for damages?
Yep, luckily had insurance which definitely helped
Total bummer!! Did the water damage your aquarium stands?
Whoever put your liberty WPB sump in installed it wrong, it should either have its own independent line or tied into the primary sump line at the furthest point of the drain . Sorry that that happened.
Yep they did
Sorry...
How did the stands hold up with all that water down there?
That sucks man i would invest in a water leak sensor saved me a fue times cheap too
I might, but unfortunately wouldn’t have helped. The flooding happened in about 10 min
@@CichlidBros 😯
which tank exploded?? 180 gallon?
What a mess.
😔
I thought it was bad when my 72 gallon leaked. How did you create your background for your 220 gal tank?
Came from Aqua Decor 3D backgrounds - it's siliconed to the glass
When was this?
Your home owners insurance premium no doubt is going to go up A LOT.
Cool, thanks
You should buy a python hook. It's a great add-on for water changes.
Yep, I have one! Doesn’t work when I keep the canopies on, but definitely a good add on
Right best water change addition
Extreme veggie pellets???????
