I love the vest. I have a bunch of men's silk ties. I was going to make obi belts with them. Now I can make a more substantial piece. I want vests in my wardrobe anyway. I was after a pop of style and color with the obi belts. Now I can get style and color in a more interesting way. Also, the way the band comes across the front, is a belted look too. So I can get a 2-in-1 look vest with a belt. I'm lovin' this whole idea and I'm glad I saw your creation. Thank you!!

My dad passed about a year and a half ago. Ive got anout 5-7 of his ties and wS trying to figure out how to use them and honor him. Thamk you for the great idea😘💖

Hi, I am Elena. Thank you very much for the very valuable video! I am your new subscriber! I have two questions: 1. What should be the width of the ties You keep them as they are, without opening them up? 2. apparently you do not cut or anyhow shorten the skinny ends? What if I will? Thank you!

I will need to check the average tie length and width. What’s most important is that the ties are the same letter and width. If they are uneven then this might not work so well. No need to cut anything off. If you want them shorter you can cut and hem them. Hope this helps. Let me know

You are welcome. That’s an excellent question. It depends. If you have never sewn before I would not spend a lot of money on a machine. If you used to sew and you already know you love it maybe invest a little more. It’s less about the number of stitches and more about the quality. Brother makes a machine they used in project runway. In my opinion it’s a good machine for someone just starting out. They sell it on Amazon. I’ll try to find it and put it in my amazing storefront.

In my opinion I would first spot clean. I would also hand wash in woolite or a delicate soap. Don’t wring or squeeze. Allow to air dry flat
