- I couldn't resist making a new edited version including a third original video of the event. You'll see some details that weren't clear before because of Karolina's excellent video. The new video is a little shaky, but the color/video quality are worth it. Enjoy!

I was nervous right up until the moment Kristin took my arm. Then all my nerves faded away and I was living a dream!
Sarah Horn That moment when the ORCHESTRA applauds you.🎵🎶🎹🎻👏
I never tire of watching you shine. Love you!
Seriously, this never gets old. I’ve probably watched it 100 times and it’s pure magic each and every time. Bravo!
@@ericholck3914 me too!
Awesome performance!
I'm just a voice teacher from Riverside that Kristin randomly selected to sing with her. :)
Not "just" -- a very talented woman
Sarah Horn , just seeing this video, you made me cry all over again. That’s one of my very favorite songs. I’m in tears. Well done
6 years late but you knocked it out of the park. Wish you the all the best that life has to offer
Wow. You are incredible. I live in Broken Arrow, where Kristin is from, and have had the unbelievable pleasure of meeting her. Of course she is an amazing, funny, humble and beautiful woman. It was such a treasure watching this magic you two created together. Thank you for your gift, and for sharing it with the world.
You clearly met the task! Very nice indeed.
Kristen said this was her favorite duet she's ever done
And it should be.
Makes sense. She had a vocal pro with her, she actually got to enjoy the performance instead of worrying about her partner's ability.
@@frederalbaconidina??
@@danish2201 I guarantee she's not talking about when she's performed with her actual cast, I think the "duet" part of her favorite duet part refers to this format, since she does this at her concerts frequently. This is the favorite time she's done this.
When she said, “Holy crap. Harmony,” every soprano understood.
One of the most impressive things about Sarah’s performance is that it’s not just a copy of Idina’s. Sarah makes unique vocal choices and really elevates the song. A true artist.
Because i knew you
"That voice is teaching our young people." Doesn't that tell you all you need to know about Kristen Chenoweth? She knows that Ms. Horn not only proved herself to be a wonderful singer, quite worthy of sharing the stage with a Broadway legend, but she also shares her talents with her students.
Not only that, but Sarah's voice is evidence that she must be a fantastic voice teacher. Her volume and high notes seem effortless, her range is awesome, and that floated "because I knew you" at the end is so light, so graceful, it makes me cry. In a set of years where rock and pop legends regularly lose their voices because of misuse, this woman must be teaching kids how NOT to do so. (I love this video so much. Must have watched it 40 or 50 times!)
I've watched this video a few million times -- it will never get old. Did anyone else notice the conductor's reaction when Sarah started singing? He turned to watch! And when Kristen says, "Sing it, sing it," he also nods in agreement. Adorable.
+Christine Chen just rewatched it and watched the conductor! This is always one of my favorite videos because it shows talent really is everywhere, not just in the millions.
Same here. It just never gets old.
Christine Chen - You have QUITE THE EYE for the SUBLIME :-) ! Do you happen to know Edmund Burke? What is your Pup's name Christine?
Completely. Wonderful moment -- it's totally a "holy s**t!" reaction from him.
When the conductor turns around and applauded, you nailed it
Ding, ding, ding!
Say what you will, Sarah got on stage with a Tony winning incredible voice and she did more than just hold her own, she was Kristin's equal up there. There are not too many voices who could do that. I just love the way their voices blend.
C.M. Lein there are many voices that could do the same, they just aren’t noticed or discovered.
To quote Kristin
"Holy crap harmony!"
Shelley Holder No way. 99% of people would choke up there in front of thousands in those circumstances. They’d forget words or sing off key. She knocked it out of the park.
She’s a voice teacher. She’s probably sung in front of large audiences before, and his used to singing with other people. The key to singing a good duet is listening to your partner, and she literally does that every day with her students.
What I will say is, did you notice Ms. Chenoweth supporting her all the way and together they made ART.
How good is Sarah Horn? Well look at Kristin at 3:40 ... no thought whatsoever left of needing to "babysit" an amateur during this performance, but completely confident to direct her attention fully to her own stage performance. That's instant trust, which even between professionals needs to grow during rehearsals.
For the past 6 years I've come back time and time again to watch this video...it's magical and always brings a tear to my eye xx
"Holy Crap, harmony!" This is not my genre of music but I love me some Kristen Chenoweth. This is why. And way to go, Sarah Horn!
I cry every time I watch this. And I watch this a lot.
+starfarmer Me, too!
starfarmer I cried too!
EVERY
SINGLE
time.
😪
I am in Maui not NYC tonight for a show that I really love (annual thing) And I just watched it. Tears , yet again.
Ditto
Here's what is going through the conductor's head within three notes: "Thank god, I can go with this and do it right and not worry and let go!". Because any of us in the business can tell within three notes whether or not it's for real or scary.
I've watched this over and over, and while Sarah was spectacular and the duet terrific, the thing that impressed me the most was the look of pure joy on Kristen's face during Sarah's solo. What a memorable moment - for BOTH of them!
seamus1956 that voice is teaching our young people!!!
I agree 100% she looked like she was completely enjoying sharing the stage with such a talented singer as Sarah. I love this video so much. I cry every time I watch it. Completely unrehearsed but you can see how the love for music these two women share brings two strangers together and bonds them to each other if only for a few minutes. It’s truly magical.
The most incredible thing to me is that THEY DID NOT REHEARSE at all!!
And Sarah didn't even warm-up nor prepare for it!!!!
Haha. At 2:22 Kristin looks at the composer like "WTF" and the conductor looks back like "I KNOW!" And then when she says "Oh Sing It" at 2:28 the conductor turns around and nods in agreement
Tears every time.
The "composer" is not the "conductor! They are two different things!
@@1MahaDas- True, these are 2 of the many different roles in the paradigm of Music; however, I believe TankMaster1018 hit that Nail 💅 On The Head!
TankMaster1018 - You Are A Quite AN ASTUTE Master OF Observation, Thank You For Your Most Keen Eye! Are you related to Sigmund Freud? ;-)
@@1MahaDas Holy shit, just realized my mistake. Well thats embarrassing! Lmfao and I call myself a musician...
I was there!!!!! I'll never forget it! I'm a singer, but I would have not had the poise and presence Sarah had. She just nailed it! Kristen was amazing and so genuine. A highlight , for sure!!!!!
Every once in a while I go on a Chenoweth binge here on youtube. Somehow I missed this one until tonight, and holy wow! So wonderful it makes my cry, just as others have said. Now have to watch it again!
Love it when the conductor turns around just after she starts singing :D
I wish we could see his face, he and KC looking at each other!!!
She was my old singing couch for theater
Thanks for that edit. I was lucky enough to be in the audience that night and that performance was absolutely electric. The moment Sarah began to sing, the crowd went crazy. I also love how you can see the violinists applauding at the end by shaking their bows. The Hollywood Bowl was a class act and invited Sarah to come back a few weeks later to host an a cappella singing competition and to sing a few songs prior to an ABBA tribute concert. They even put her name on the marquee. For a random pick from the audience, she came prepared and am so glad she was able to shine.
2024 and I still love watching this!
When the Orchestra claps, you know you are good. No truer words were spoken, your students are so lucky. Awesome
I love how at 2:18 even the conductor turns around to see who's singing!
Another detail I just noticed: At about 3:45 at the left of the screen you get a glimpse of a lady that appears to be principal violinist and she is just beaming at the proceedings. This really was a magic few minutes. :)
Sarah's breathing is great, which is exceptional considering the circumstances.
You sang absolutely beautifully Sarah but dang she sure YANKED your arm right at the end of that note ! lol
I don't know how many times I've watched this, and it never fails to put a smile on my face. Simply wonderful.
I always watch this when I need a little pick-me-up...a reminder than the lovely unexpected can happen to any of us at any time.
DC Mc Thanks for the note- and for bringing me back to watch this again!!! :)
Sarah was my son’s friend in high school. A lovely, kind girl to him and she deserves the accolades for this and all that she achieves now and forever.😮
Kristin Chenoweth is such a super nice person. She is so positive and speaks from the bottom of her heart.
I watch this at LEAST once a week, and between Horn's joy and talent and Chenotweth's generosity and sincerity, I am floored consistently.
The way Kristin pulls her in at the end of the song to hug her and show her such love is what makes me cry every time.
I just Love the conductor's reaction when Sara starts to sing, AND, when Kristin says ,"oh sing it", and he shakes his head up and down yes, in concurrence. This whole encounter was magical. Still a treat almost a decade later.
When she pulls her into that hug... The feels...
This is lovely. It’s a joy.
But here’s what I don’t think people get. Sarah was sorta picked surprisingly to do this. She killed it, and there’s a reason why.
If you know music well, it’s obvious Sarah trained for years to be this darned good. She might have caught off guard, but the reason she shined so brilliantly in the moment is because of the training behind her. She earned the heck out of this because of the years of work she put into it.
Sarah kills this. Watch her Ted Talk about it. She’s brilliant. Sarah Horn stan!!! Xoxoxo
Brings tears to my eyes EVERY.... SINGLE... TIME. And I'm a tough guy.
HOLY CRAP!! HARMONY!!!
I still love the conductor's reaction when she starts to sing.... priceless. Amazing! :)
I love how Kristin reacts to the girl singing. "Well bless my soul! This peasant has vocal chords!"
this is by far my favorite video on youtube
I cry every time. This is so incredible.
why is this so addictive??? :)
Nothing better than watching someone’s dream come true...
It's like watching a miracle happen
4:19 That note is sooo beautiful.
Back when two people who didn't live together could hug in joyous delight...
still one of the most magical videos on YT
You know that had to be as much of a thrill for Kristin as it was for Sarah. She pulled someone up every night and she had to get some real stinkers from time to time. It had to be a relief to get a real singer up for once.
Laura Thornton
She reeeeeeeeeeally hit the jackpot with this one! She gave her the best riverside county had to offer.
Does anyone else speed throu to Sarah’s entry?
Nope. I wanted to, but didn't. It was worth it. 💕💕
Towards the end of the video, the guy directly behind Kristin was wiping tears from his eyes. :D
How is kristen this perfect 😭 this moment too 😭 both has unbelievable vocals 😭😭😭 meanwhile here's me who can't even get the 1st line of this song right, sounds like a cat ran over by a 10 wheeler truck every time 🥲
Holy crap, what a voice. Sarah Horn, you held your own against Kristin up there. Brava!
Never Gets Old
When Covid gets me down, I come back here to feel better. Still love this video.
"holly crap harmony" 😂😂
Two of the best/brightest among us! Thank you.
Holy S* this pops up all the and every time I and caught in the windshield blinds. Such an amazing performance
I love how even the composer went WAIT WHAT?!
Schwartz was there? lol. o.
Conductor**
A perfect example of seizing your moment.
Love this video! I actually met Sarah 2 years ago on New Years Eve at a Kristin Chenoweth concert in Las Vegas. She was so sweet, I recognized her immediately and said hello and told her how great her performance was.
I'm watching this for like the 20th time and I cry every single time omg ;_;
I wish I could click "like" about 100 times on this.
Now THAT'S how you seize the opportunity to make a dream come true! WOW!! You were AMAZING!! BRAVO!!
I don't know how many times I have watched this. It inspires me every time as though I was seeing it for the first time..... definitely goose bump-pill-ees
Just beautiful! Sometimes life is really a glorious thing! God Bless these two amazing voices and the beautiful ladies behind them!! Always nice to smile!!!
I've watched this video more than just about any other on RUclips and it NEVER gets old. Every time I watch it, I'm at least as impressed as I was the first time I saw it. Brava, Sarah!
every so often i return to this video to remind myself how extraordinary and magical moments can pop up.
When the conductor turns around--that says it all!
Again, never gets old. My happy place :)
This gives me thrills and chills every...single...time. I mean, 8 years on, and still...
Rewatching this because somehow i had still not watched it this year
A delight, as always
I have watched this many times. It always delights me.
Same!!!!!!! I hope people rediscover this when the movie comes out.
Sarah...As beautiful as this song is, you took it to a new level, surprising everyone with your talent. Thank you for celebrating the human voice.
I love watching this video over and over again. It always brings a smile to my face. Kristin's reaction and the conductor's turning around to acknowledge the "magic" that was taking place on the stage was priceless.
This gives me chills every time I see it!! Must have been the best day EVER!!
I can watch this over and over. Thank you Kristin and Sarah.
After watching this a gazillion times over the years, it rings true on so many levels--the congeniality between Sarah and Kristin, the spirit, the soul, the vocal excellence--and I love watching the conductor too--he's so tuned-in and appreciative as well. He's practically dancing as he conducts...
What's not to love about Cheno?
She is so cool, funny, humble... ADORABLE!!!
one moment of glory captured perfectly!
This never fails to make me smile. 1) I love the song... and 2) just because.
Can't...stop...crying!
Started watching this daily for 3 days now. And i dont think i can stop. This moment was so magical!
The Conductor & Kristin GASPING at each other!!
No matter what kind of day I have had, this video completely makes my day better. I HAVE been changed for 'the better'. I have watched this 100 times and will watch it 1000 more.
TruthBKnown true
I think one of the best parts of this is the honesty. True connection. Not to mention the talent. It’s just spontaneous magic. It’s not the “Chenowith channel.” It’s about experience. In the moment. Beautiful.
You know how good a performance is by watching the reactions of the professionals.
"How To Knock It The Hell Out The Park," By S. Horn.
and that's a winner! I don't believe... what I just saw! I don't believe what i just saw!
Whoa. Ten years later and it came back up because I searched Kristen to see if she was doing anything new. She’s a powerhouse. Tiny, but a powerhouse singer.
I watch this when I need a little boost. If I ever run into Kristen, I would love to ask her what she was thinking as soon as Sarah started singing.
I come back to watch this from time to time when I need a lift. It always makes me cry through a big goofy smile. Sarah just knocked it out of the park! And because you knew Kristin, your life has been changed for good! Congratulations to Sarah Horn on turning this opportunity into continuing success and God Bless Kristen for giving people a chance to be heard!
Weeping here.
still amazing after watching it dozens of times.
I’m doing my best to watch this video without tearing up!
"holy crap harmony" fantastic lol also KC low notes perfection!
I'd be crying too much to be able to sing!!!
Sooo, there will probably be a few more views after Kristin mentioned this was her favorite duet on the Voice.
Lol that's where I'm here from
instant smile feast, love it
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But
Because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done you blame me for
But then, I guess we know there's blame to share
And none of it seems to matter anymore
Like a comet pulled from orbit (like a ship blown from its mooring)
As it passes a sun (by a wind off the sea)
Like a stream that meets a boulder (like a seed dropped by a bird)
Halfway through the wood (in the wood)
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better
And because I knew you
Because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed
For good
Can I please 'like' this over and over and over again!?
I watch this video whenever I need inspiration. ❤
I agree with the author of this video that even though Sarah may not be "THE best voice in the world" she indeed has a great voice in her range of vocals, had a great pitch, but most importantly, had the experience of a lifetime. I´ve always dreamt of having my moment of fame and I´m so glad she did get hers and aced it!
A light filled generous pro and an amazing new star is born. That's just wonderful!! Harmony, harmony, harmony.
