I start dental school this coming Fall and I’m so glad I found your channel!! So much great information and things to think about considering the amount of student loan debt I will have by the end of it. My goal is to buy a practice no more than 2 years after graduation and watching your videos has reassured me that is definitely possible as a previous dental office manager told me I would be crazy to do that… lol
DSOs are pretty standardized so you know what you are getting into. Working as an associate for another dentist can be a good experience but it can also be a terrible one. Very dependent on the dentist you are working for, personality, willingness to share treatment, basically how selfish vs generous.
You can be making a lot of money as a practice owner in your first year? I’d assume it would be a struggle since you wouldn’t have as many patients and therefore doing less cases. Wouldn’t you want to save your money before buying a practice?
If you buy a practice rather than do a startup, you can make a lot in your first year. I actually just release another video that shows what my income was month to month
I personally have made $700k in a year, and I know multiple dentists making more than $1M, so it’s possible. I just don’t care enough about money to work that hard, I would rather work fewer days, but if I worked 5 days per week, I probably could.

If anyone else wants to share their experience about your first year out of school, leave a comment and tell us about it
Can you make a video on how to pick a location when trying to buy a dental practice?
🦷Great Video On Dentistry I made my class mate my first teeth impression ever since I've started as An Assistant it inspired me after that🪥
You speak a lot about being an associate temporarily at DSOs, what are your opinions on being an associate at a private practice?
