    One thing is that MILLIONS of years ago bugs like scorpions were almost bigger than us. The whole time travel thing must've had something to do with the enemies changing in size

    What about the plants. Wouldnt they get rekt? Pikmin 3 you can see palm trees in the battlefield very clearly against sandbelching meerslug. And in the same game lightbulbs seen to work and somehow the wires have electricity so does that mean its the radiation powering them

    I saw one flaw, in the third game olimar and Louie were on the plant from Pikmin 2 and 3 because they went straight back after the final boss to get more treasures so maybe they got stuck as olimar said in the third game that their ship was totaled so a failure occurred and they were trapped so I have another theory that goes with the time shifting, it takes a long time to travel and 1 year in space is equal it around 100 earth years which could've lead to changes in earth while they were on and off the planet but great theory!!! Make more Pikmin stuff

    Ok, you really don't know how radiation works. First of all, a Geiger counter is going to be constantly going off because radiation is pretty pervasive in the universe: things you eat are radioactive, you are radioactive, there is background radiation that permeates the universe left over from the big bang, light is radiation, sound is radiation, etc. Second, radiation doesn't mutate things; it kills them. Radiation damages molecules in cells possibly to the point of non-functioning (think of a sun burn which is caused by UV radiation). Even the more penetrating radiation that damages DNA just damages the DNA. It doesn't change the bases, it breaks the bonds holding DNA together which would make it useless if your cells can't repair the damage. As far as why the treasure is in the second game? A simple answer would be erosion. That can also be why landscapes change slightly. Another possibility is the fact that we are seeing the world through the eyes of our characters. In the first game, Olimar is focused on getting his ship pieces, not getting killed by stuff, and going home. The second game, he wants treasure, so that is what he is focused on. The third game features our Koppaites looking for fruit, so that is what they see. People experience this type of tunnel vision all the time. It would explain the YEILD sign as well. Olimar sees treasure that he wants to try to get, but that he cannot retrieve. The creature sizes change because they are less scary/intimidating to Olimar since he has conquered them before.

    • @VGTI
      @VGTI  8 лет назад

      This is true of radiation, but considering what kind of game we're dealing with, a good amount of video game logic needs to be applied. It's certainly clear the wildlife is not like our own, and maybe this is just due to evolution over a long period of time, but that's another theory.
      I'm more skeptical of seeing what the protagonists want to see. That would make them unreliable narrators, and they frequently comment on the strangly rapid changing nature of the planet.

    • @MisterJackTheAttack
      @MisterJackTheAttack 8 лет назад

      +VG TI Maybe it is simply hotter on the planet. In 200-250 million years, the sun will be burning brighter, weather is more or less unpredictable, and the Earth's rotation will have slowed making the day about an hour longer. This would discourage large, warm-blooded animals. So maybe everything just got smaller. I don't seem to remember any mention on the climate of PNF-404. What is wrong with unreliable narrators? They comment on the "rapid changing nature" of the planet, but do we ever really see it? Maybe they are just seeing it wrong. Sure enemies migrate to and from areas, but that is really it. Animals do that. Some people say the Distant Spring from the first game is the same area as the Perplexing Pool from the second game, and that is evidence of rapid change. Other people have noticed that they both resemble remnants of bathrooms. Maybe they are different places while the characters think they are the same (because really, are bathrooms THAT different from one another? Answer: yes and no). That would be evidence for unreliable narrators.

    • @VGTI
      @VGTI  8 лет назад

      The only issue I have with that is if they ARE unreliable narrators, then that brings every single thing we've seen in the games into question.
      The reason the similarities are noted are because of the layouts being almost identical barring new walls and obstacles, but space travel back and forth could make time appear different than what it truly is.

      Hey Pikmin may or may not be canon.

  • @sealink129
    @sealink129 2 года назад

    So, to add to and maybe expand upon this theory, here’s kinda what I think may have happened. (It’s long, sorry)
    Humanity is at the brink of collapse and extinction. Nuclear war and fallout has left the planet bare of nutrients and too dangerous for human life. The effects of radiation has brought upon a sudden mass extinction, wiping out almost all life, safe for a few survivors, such as a few insects and similar families, some birds/reptiles and amphibians, and a few mammals, including some humans. Plant life isn’t affected much, but is now oozing radiation. What remains of humanity must leave, or face extinction. They construct and board a ship, with a few hardy crops and livestock not yet affected by radiation that can sustain them, deciding to abandon the planet in search for another. Eventually, they find a couple new planets to settle on, and name them Hocotate and Koppai. After hundreds, maybe thousands of years, and so few humans left to rebuild humanity, Earth is long forgotten, though some parts of the past remain. This is why the machinery and other things are so similar to our own. They’re built from the same blueprints and models. That’s also why they have Pikpik *carrots* and *onions*. Those were a few of the crops that humans brought with them. Though, the time spent growing on a foreign planet has changed the way they look some. And the bigger size of the new planets has caused future generations to shrink in size to accommodate for the extra gravity.
    On Earth, the planet is starting to recover from radiation and much of life is adapting to survive undersuch harsh, new conditions. Plants have grown to take over the planet and whatever fauna remains has mutated, often beyond recognition to evolve and live in radiation. Birds have taken to burrowing underground and have lost their wings and much of their feathers. Bugs and related families have grown in size and retaken reign of the overworld. Some have mutated into species like the grub dogs and the bulborbs/bulblaxes and other related species, while others like spiders and arachnids kept much of their original look. And at the lack of much intervention, plant life developed and evolved. A few select species began to mimic and copy the fauna and became carnivorous or animal-like.
    As far as the time travel theory goes, it’s possible. Unless just passage of time has led to some of those items being dug up or becoming visible (similarly to how fossils can be found everywhere along river banks and such even though they’re millions of years old). At least for pikmin 2, the vast majority of what we find is underground in caves. Why we don’t see these in pikmin 1, is debatable. Obv they’re retconned in. But from the in-game perspective, perhaps we just didn’t see them because the changing environment didn’t allow us to see them. But your guess is as good as, or better than mine

  • @wolfsbane123

    taking into account that days on pnf 404 are so much shorter than Hocotate days, perhaps events like in the Fallout games take place between the first and second pikmin games. i mean we humans live to be 80 or 90 years old in earth years but what if one hocotate year is equal to say a couple million earth years or something. that would suggest that what seems like only a couple of years on hocotate could be enough time for pnf 404 to go through these drastic changes. so we can assume that it had been a few hundred years after nuclear fallout, or however long it would take for the mutations, that Olimar comes to the planet the first time. he does everything and leaves. the humans finally emerge from the fallout shelters. fast forward a few thousand or million or however many years. humans just cant handle themselves and become totally extinct because while they have adapted to controlled living inside a cell these animals have been adapting for hundreds of years in the new conditions post nuclear fallout. hints all the seemingly newer stuff because humans tried to thrive again above ground but just couldn't. and from pikmin 2 to pikmin 3 it just simply goes forward another few million years in time where every human object has decayed and all the new animals have adapted and flourish.

    • @VGTI
      @VGTI  9 лет назад

      +mr hugginpickles This is very possible, and could explain the drastic changes.

    • @krotoxx
      @krotoxx 9 лет назад

      +mr hugginpickles Or instead of humans existing on pnf-404 during pikmin 1 just in shelters, they havent evolved yet. With your idea that a couple hocotation years is hundreds of thousands of earth years perhaps during pikmin 1 it is a pre-human planet. then pikmin 2 occurs after humans have come and gone leaving their effects on the planet, and then pikmin 3 happens on pangea ultima 250ish million years from now.

    • @wolfsbane123
      @wolfsbane123 9 лет назад +2

      Yes but in the first Pikmin I believe there are a few things like super rusty old cans and such that would signify that there was once a somewhat advanced civilization on the planet before the first Pikmin. That plus the Geiger counter constantly going off in the first Pikmin are what lead me to believe that the first Pikmin is right after a nuclear war.

    Lets talk Formidable Oak. Being a Desert Steppe area is a little weird considering thats where india and sri lanka are supposed to be. Then i considered maybe something meteoric caused the rest of the landmass to become submerged, and maybe the sounthern tip of the indian landmass dried up just like how antarctica melted into a tropical forest. Thoughts?

      Definitely like this idea! Feels like something meteoric could have caused a lot of the weird geography and time shenanigans we witness throughout the series. The Pangea Ultima similarities means nothing is where it normally would be located. One other nugget to throw into this is Pikmin 4 pseudo confirming 3 as the latest game in the time-line.

    A simpler idea for why we didnt see all these human effects is just changing of seasons etc in the areas between pikmin 1 and 2. In the time between olimar's return to hocotate and then to earth, there could have been massive storms and climate things that transported human items to those regions or unburied them for example which could be backed by the ability to go underground in pikmin 2.

      Good point I like the idea of Pangea Ultima being present in all 4 games
      This is my theory: Humans had a technological quantum leap in the 21st century which led to Space colonization and 23% of humanity left Earth and colonized 3 planets: Mars, Hocotate, and Koppia. With Mars being the first successful colonization and humans deciding to very distant planets and so humans established colonies on Hocotate and Koppia. Hocotate created synthetic gardens to grow vegetables and Koppia discovered the planet was rich in fruits. Back on earth humans started nuclear fallout killing them all. 250 millions went by humans on Hocotate and Koppia evolved to have far smaller bodies to the point the don’t need oxygen eventually Hocotatians created the cosmic drive to expand to other worlds a lot like Hocotate and they shared the cosmic drive with koppites. Years later a astronaut Olimar crashed land of the planet PNF-404 and that’s where the first game begins
      This theory I made also explains why there are all those other planets in Pikmin 4

    what we know is that hocotate and koppai are supposed 'sister planets' as proven by a few certain quotes. since the planet is confirmed to be 279000 light years away so i think when they enable cosmic/hyper/light speed (whatever you want to call it) they travel back in time, or on the way whilst in light speed, they enter a wormhole and go back in time, so when they go back to hocotate/koppai they go forward in time so that explains why the fruits and relics of humanity are fresh. plus if a nuclear war HAD happened recently it explains why there is LOTS of radiation, as radiation dies down over time.

  • @jamesrichardson2465
    @jamesrichardson2465 9 лет назад +1

    Maybe the reason why you don't see any human remnants is because they just haven't visited those areas until after Pikmin 1. Then all the humans die either before, during or after Pikmin 2, explaining why there are barely any signs of humans left in Pikmin 3.

    • @VGTI

      If they died off between 1 and 2, the planet wouldn't have recovered so much from the nuclear war. Ditto for during, the planet seems peaceful throughout the entire game.
      And for afterwards, it still doesn't explain the changes to the environments and the wildlife.

    I'm sorry but I disagree with this theory about planet time travel. VG TI I want you to read this ... I think in pikmin 1 olimar didn't know about treasure being on the planet and also at the beginning of pikmin 2 olimar brings a souvenir form PNF-404 and the ship takes that in for treasure and so Louie and olimar take off to PNF-404 and find caves that olimar did not discover with his legion of pikmin and there they find tons a treasure recovering olimar and Louie's debt of their job. And sense olimar light-year travels, time passes and that changes a few things in the planet. VG TI mentioned about the nuclear war with humans and humans went in extinction, well that theory helps me too as VG TI asked about how in the world was PNF-404 producing fruits in pikmin 3, I thought maybe PNF-404 was regenerating and producing edible matter. That was my theory about the planets changing😎🤗
