5 of the BEST Unova Pokémon Theories of all Time

- The Unova region, introduced in Pokemon Black and White, is the featured region of one of the most controversial Pokemon generations ever. However, Black and White also had one of the best stories the series has ever seen, which naturally provides a lot of material for good theories. So, in this video, I will be discussing what I believe are the five of the best Unova Pokemon theories of all time!

"The leak was very reliable"
The leak: Tauros evolves into Minotauros
That was my thoughts
My thought was "157 new pokemon"... 156 added... wouldn't the 157th be the new Tauros evolution... 🤷♂️
Landon Portilla and if they cut Zygarde then kyurem would’ve taken his place
@@legoghostyoda zugarde swapped with kyurem and minotauros was removed

Unova theory: gym leaders in unova don't get paid. every leader in gne 5 has a day job this is the first time where this is blatently outlined and the onlt region in which it is true for all of them. in other gens, some have hobbies, or side jobs but in unova we find outwhat they do besides gym leading before we learn about their gym which is themed after their day job
I’m no archeologist, but I think the legendary dragon you pick against N’s dragon lost to N’s dragon years back in Unova’s past and changed Unova to what it represents.
I remember Drayden saying there were 2 heroes in Unova’s past battling over how they want Unova to continue on to its future. It’s ether to remain traditional or to become innovative. Now! They did battled until the legendaries have revert their physical forms into stone. For my guess, the winner of that battle will put his stone on the top of a tower representing the Victory he made and the other will bury his stone in the deepest of Relic Castle representing his defeat. The region will obey the one who was victorious and adapt to his truth or ideal.
It really explains the big picture like why some areas are different between versions, why the legendaries ended up where they are. You know it might explain the Yin & Yang on the covers because N grabs the dragon the region is applying to.
It might just be a strange theory that explains N and Hilda/Hildert being some kind of reincarnation of the 2 hero’s from Unova’s past just to settle the score.
okaminokuro makes sense to me. The trio gym are waiters, and Lenora is a museum curator. I’m sure they’re more examples but I can’t remember off the top of my head
edit: Elisa is a model, Drayden is a mayor, Burgh is an artist I believe, Clay runs a mine, Skyla runs an airline, and Brycen is an actor. Theory holds up.
They are also the gym leaders that actually try and help with the threat to the region, they need to get a raise
@@dylanmcnab3479 they are who most deserves of all gym leaders gens
What do you expect? The region's based off of a location in America after all.
Maybe N is a person who has a Zozoark who sometimes pretends to be him XD
Nah he is a zorark and he has a zorark
Some Pokémon are smarter than others
That is way more plausible than N being a Zoroark. N is quite obviously not a pokemon. Ghetsis and N's caretakers all refer to N as a human not a Zoroark. You can't send yourself out to battle and the illusion would have faltered many times throughout the games and any time N was harmed. N is human, simple as that.
If zoroark is n, then he wouldn’t be able to talk
Well there was that one movie where Zorua talked “using telepathy”. *shrug*
Reshiram is dragon/fire, Zekrom is dragon/electric both weak to dragon and ground (both types of Zygarde) and Zygarde is weak to Ice and Dragon (both types of Kyurem)
Maybe a 'delta episode' was planned for b&w/b2&w2 that the three dragons fused and defeated zygarde 100%
@@mooncat1321 they didn't start with the whole delta episode thing until the remakes of ruby and sapphire. So most certainly not, not to mention that scenario wouldn't have made any sense. The delta episode was only made as a reference and replacement of Emerald which should have been the basis of the remakes in the first place.
@@andresmarrero8666 The apostrophes around Delta Episode in Jasper's comment insinuates that they meant a delta episode-like post game sequence. Not am actual delta episode.

I don't know why the heck Unova gets so much hate
It's a great region and actually one of my favorites
Maybe I just look in the wrong places but I've never seen that. I always hear about how people are down on the Unova games but all I've ever seen is people praise and defend it. I've never met or seen someone who hates gen 5 so it's always weird to me when people mention all the people who apparently do. I mean, it's fine if people don't like it, everyone is allowed their own opinion. It's not one of my favorites but I certainly see why people like it, every pokemon game has it's strengths and weaknesses so it's all about personal preference.
But to answer you're initial thought, why does Unova get so much hate? It's most likely a combination of factors, but some of it is people just being petty and not giving gen 5 a fair shot and some of it is people that just don't like certain things about it that ruin the experience for them. Every Pokemon generation has this problem to some degree.
Sorry if that was long winded.
@@johnherb4243 Well I have seen some certain people on Instagram that were hating on my page too and in some comments about Unova posts. I think they don't like the fact that they got "rid" of all the old pokemon and they think that the ones from Unova are designed ugly and are bad in competitive battle (which is wrong) Also they hate a lot of the characters like Iris and the Striaton brothers, so yeah
Gen 5 had everything perfect but some of the Pokémon. If they cut out some of the bad Pokémon it would of been perfect

It COULD also be due to his Hydreigon, which is theorised that he abused, for several reasons
>His hydreigon knows frustration, a move which gets more powerful the more the pokemon hates you. His Hydreigon's Frustration is at MAX POWER, meaning that his hydreigon absolutely _HATES_ him
>His hydreigon is also underlevelled, zweilous doesn't evolve into hydreigon until level 64, suggesting that he likely abused it to get it to evolve early(which is probably why it hates him so much.)
The black hand could be from charring Instead of frostbite, coming from one of the many dragon-type moves it learns.(Alot of dragon moves are just Dragonically-recolored Fire moves, suggesting they are just dragonfire)
Honestly Zygarde fits the theme of the legendaries of the 6th Gen more than the 5th so holding it back makes sense.
10:56 i personally think that was his hydragon that ripped off his arm
It's not taboo to speak about 9/11. Just say it man.
Yeah, that was a weird dancing around it.
Maybe it affected him personally. Who knows
He mentioned that he afraid of being demonetized for talking about it. RUclips might have flagged it as inappropriate and then ads wouldn’t have been able to play on the video, causing it to not earn any money.
@@carly2311 I'm surprised you're the only one who can comprehend that
Regardless of how long ago it was. It was still in recent enough history that people who were affected by it are still living. Being careful with that subject is not at all out of the norm and respectable.
I thought the desert was caused by Reshiram and Zekrom clashing. Fire and lightning scorching the land and all that. Or did I hear that in the games somewhere....
I think it's not just Ghetsis right arm that has problems.
He also has an eyepatch covering his right eye. In early official artwork you can actually see that's because his eye is scarred for some reason. And if you pay close attention to his mouth you can also see that the right part of his mouth appears to have trouble moving.
So yeah, something definitely happened to him that disabled the right side of his body.
probably because of hydregion, honestly. He likely abused it, so I wouldn't be surprised if at some point it tried to fight back.
goosegoose freaking max power frustration will do that to ya
@@ErrorNumber404 Yeah, dragon boy hates his guts.
well Frostbites most likely the reason for his arm, his skin is blackened which either its burnt or froze by pokemon or something, maybe hatred towards ice made him obssesed with ice 🤷🏻♂️ also his pokemon uses fire types so 🤔 it was Kyuurem made him disabled

Currently doing a play-through of White 2 and I have to say it is the most fun I've had playing a Pokemon game. All I ever heard were negative things about Gen V, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the pacing, storyline and team building aspect.
Same here (though I'm playing black 2 on an emulator because my brother stole my cartridge)
@@blindgirluk1845 yeah I just finished black 2 and it was amazing.
Ghetsis' right arm is not frost bitten as that would require amputation. Most likely his black arm is a prosthetic arm.
Daniel Cattini it’s a make believe world. He can keep his frost bite arm if he wants. He can even have a 3rd one if he wanted.
@@alex-2901 but it would not be able to move and help in the coronation of N. The blackness is due to necrosis of the tissues, that's all tissues, including skin, nerve cells, muscle and even bone. Even if he was able to keep the arm, he wouldn't be able to move it
Or it is simply a shadow and a black and white reference?!
@@danielcattini8448 very likely considering how advanced the pokemon world is. I am pretty sure that they can easily fashion him a new arm and leg, probably half his body given his design. How did he survive Kyrem in the first place I wonder?
@@andresmarrero8666 but why fashion him a different colored arm? That's why I said it's a prosthetic. It can be very advanced and be just like a regular arm, which for us is still non existent, but it would not be a real arm
In regards to "N is a Zoroark", particularly the memory link scene: Zoroark is in its pokeball around N's waist during that flashback. We also know that Pokemon are able to tell what's happening around them and their trainers while in their balls, such as when Cynthia mentioned how our party was shaking with anticipation before the battle against her in the Sinnoh games. Heavily implying that flashback was indeed Zoroark's.
I grew up with gen 2 but I loved gen 5. I was in high school at the time. Second year in. And those games were my go to after school.

"Oh no!"

"Oh no!"
Oblivion speech
Unova/Gen 5 and Alola/Gen7 are definitely two of my favorite regions/generations
The "N is Zoroark theory" ruins his character.
Why can't people see that?!
Yeah, I really don't like that one.
I think it's a pretty interesting theory.
he could of just been raised by zoroarks
He IS a Zoroark though? How does it ruin his character. He was a Pokemon scared of trainers because of Team Plasma leaders. He met the protagonist saw there was more to human/Pokemon relationships. He sought truth, which countered to the protagonist seeking ideals. This is what sets things forward. It's been years since I've played but correct me if I'm wrong and explain. I wanna understand your thoughts.
@@KingofBeasts444 As Excalibur 493 said:
"A few things that debunk the N theory are, for instance, the Zoroark that gives the player Snarl. It doesn't have N's speedy text that some claim would be it using Snarl to talk. There's also the idea of Zoroark knowing what's going on in the memory link from IN the pokeball, since we know our pokemon got upset whenever Ghetsis fused Kyurem, despite them being in pokeballs. Lastly, well, some people just dress up like their pokemon. The anime does this ALL the time, and Lucy has Seviper's fashion."
I gotta say (and I never talk about this topic) when it comes to Unova's pokemon designs it feels as if this was the first gen to use a different creator of pokemon unlike gen 1-4 where they all felt like they were created by the same creator. Not just that, to me I think each and every pokemon design from unova is feels FAR separated from each other unlike previous gens, however, with a few exceptions like the monkeys. But nonetheless, I think it's like they chaged the eyes, like made sure the eyes are different for each pokemon so now you can't pick one pokemon and easily compare it with another from the same roster. It goes for many of Unova's pokemon as if it tries to support some kind of diversity.....
I had an uncle who was a victim in the 9/11 attack. I found the theory very interesting and in no way controversial or out of place. And if you're like me and did find it controversial you should probably revaluate your emotions as they are misplaced. Amazing video hoops.
I'm surprised Ghetsis's quote from 12:02 isn't a part of the N is a Zoroark theory
I actually really liked the all new Pokémon thing. It was a refreshing change from constantly seeing the same Pokémon over and over in older games and the newer Pokémon of the gen (other then the starters, legendaries) being rarer then old Pokémon even in their own regions. What’d I like more is a balance where the about 2:3 ration between newer Pokémon on routes to old Pokémon
As for ghetsis’ arm (and his eye for that matter) I always liked to think that his hydreigon suddenly turned on him for a bit
I have a bit of information that debunks the last bit of evidence for N being a Zoroark. It's that, Pokémon are aware of what is going on while they are in their pokeballs. Evidence for this is when you beat Skyla in black or white. N comes by and asks your Pokémon in their pokeballs what are you like. Replaying with they like you and they like all the places they been with you, despite the fact they were in their pokeballs. So, N's Zoroark could just remember the memory link while still being in the pokeball.
Ghetsis is probably the most evil pokemon character ever made
@Darth Narth yup and I've never been more scared of a evil team leader like I have ghetsis
True, but I hated Mindy from a diamond and pearl more.
It says Tauros would evolve into minotaurs lol
Unova as a whole is based off of New York and it makes me almost cry each time I think about/see gen 5. My most beloved gen by far.
I find it odd how every one of the Tao trio could be responsible for Ghetsis’ arm. You stated that it could’ve been frost bitten by Kyurem, but it could also be a burn from Reshiram’s flame, or a burn from Zekrom’s lightning. This just shows how much attention gamefreak payed to the fifth generation.
Its so crazy that people dislike gen 5. I miss experiencing these games for the 1st time
He didn't even mention that N walks STRAIGHT into the spot the Zoroark is standing in when you encounter it.
Also, Pokemom Black was the first Pokemon game I ever played when I was super young. Greatly appreciate this video for catching me up on some things I was too young to hear about through RUclips.
if you want more fuel for your N theory you get a TM from a hiker who turns into a zoroark right after proving zoroark can disguise himself as a human if need be

Zoroark can indeed take human form, however speaking English (or whatever human language your copy of the game may be) is a different matter.
I like the theory of N being a Zoroark.
I imagine that he also acts weird in the eyes of humans because he is actually not one himself.
He also talks really fast in the game even if the speech is set to slow, Cheren even points it out.
Imagine if a fox-ish animal spirit disguises himself as a human. they would probably also seem weird to you in subtle and less subtle ways, how they talk etc.
The desert kind of reminds me of the space between east egg and west egg in "The Great Gatsby which took place in 1920 NY.
To get zygarde in gen 5 you need to use faint a rayquaza on your team, Groudon and kyogre level 100 perfect ivs making sure they both use rain dance and sunny day at the same time causing zygarde to appear.
having zygarde as the third one actually makes sense, zekrom reshiram and zygarde share one type ie dragon. Reshiram and Zekrom's other types(Electric and Ground) is weak to Zygarade's secondary tying(Ground). This way Zygarde keeps the two dragons in line.
N was such an intriguing and mysterious character
Poor Zygarde really got screwed over in not only one, but arguably three generations that’s so sad give my dude his own game already
Getsis:
Damaged right hand
Eye patch on right eye
Uses cane for right leg
Smiles only on his left side
A theory I've heard is that he was attacked by his Hydreigon after forcing it to evolve while underlevelled. This is supported as his Hydreigon knows frustration, meaning it has 0 happiness and utterly hates Ghetsis. Given Hydreigon's violent nature, it would make sense that it attacked him and caused significant damage to the right side of his body.
@@ahighdef.experience3394 hes a cruel pokemon abuser
Better theory on desert paradise, it was created by the ultimate weapon. With this theory we don’t have to speculate on an event with Volcorona and we can still have the shrine built for it. But instead of Volcorona settling down, the ultimate weapon hits Unova and turns the entire area into a desolate wasteland barren of life
4:52 What is with you hoops you always are mistaken every time you said kalos region 😂
He’s still got Kalos on the mind
Unova is one of my top 3 regions after Johto and Alola.
my top 3 are Unova Kalos and Hoenn

I think what really could help make the N=Zoroark theory true is the fact that Meowth spent a very long time learning English just to impress a fellow Meowth. This means that while mostly legendary Pokemon and mythical Pokemon can only speak English, common Pokemon can also learn English if they set their mind to it
Finally a Top # list that doesn't just list the entries on the list and actually takes time to elaborate on the entries.
Gen 5 might have had the garbage bag and ice cream cone pokémon, but gen 1 had a magnet and an exploding pokeball, gen 2 had letters, gen 4 had bells, gen 6 had a Key chain, gen 7 had a flower chain and gen 8 had the cream pokémon

Well... Ghetsis' arms are black and white, so this theory could be wrong, but is a nice theory nevertheless
Or it was just a shadow and a black and white reference.
And he uses his left hand so dominant, because he is left handed.
Or maybe that scene at the beginning of the game took place before Ghetsis ever challenged Kyurem resulting in damaging his arm
Maybe it’s just a glove or maybe it got burnt
I think the other theory about his arm and his eye is better which is that it’s from his Hydreigon. theory is that ghetsis forced it to evolve early and in fits of rage the hydreigon has attacked ghetsis claiming his eye and severely burning his arm with a flamethrower. We know it hates ghetsis cos it chases the move frustration at full power
A theory proposed, and that i agree with, by a nuzlocke player is that reshiram and zekrom weren't just created from nothing as that's not really how energy and matter work for the most part, although there has been cases where energy has been used to make matter its just easier to bestow more energy upon something than use it to make something. Essentially it goes that before the unova war the two princes went to kyurem and asked for its help and power to pursue truth/ideals. the dragon hearing their pleas bestowed its power upon them, however where the legend gets it wrong is that the dragons weren't created from nothing but are the princes themselves transformed after having the energy of the dragon put into them. kyurem after having lost its energy became a weaker version of itself rather than simply popping out of the original body. the two princes lose control of their power and fight one another for power and eventually destroyed their kingdoms which was the desert resort and undella bay ruins. the evidence to support this is that we never hear what became of the brothers after zekrom and reshiram where sealed and only hear about the dragons. even team plasma has no record of what happened to them after and they know literally everything. another thing is that if we look at other legendaries with multiple forms such as hoopa and zygarde itself they are able to achieve their true form after collecting all their energy. when hoopa is exposed to its original energy from the bottle it doesn't fuse with the bottle, it becomes whole. when zygarde is exposed to the other cells and cores they become one complete form of the organism they make up they don't fuse together because they are all technically one being. if you lose your arm and get it sewn back on you don't fuse you simply recover a missing piece. when kyurem is exposed to reshiram and zekrom they fuse together, or two beings become one, and no more than one can fuse together. there isn't an original dragon because there was only 1 dragon which was kyurem who made the brothers into 2 other dragons. the people never mention the original dragon by name they only mention kyurem as being a husk of what it once was similar to all-might.
side theory:the yamask line and jellicent line are counterparts as yamask are the result of the dead people from the kingdom of the desert resort and jellicent are the result of the dead people of the sunken kingdom of undella bay.
All the pieces makes sense from gen 5 and gen 6. Gen 5 always was meant to have zygarde as legendary counterpart to the the other legendary dragons. But gen 6 infamously has so much untouched things such as story, Pokémon, and gameplay. Zygarde was mysteriously absent in the entire game gen 6 but people theorized he would be center point of gen 6’s version Z. Which never got made instead we got OR and AS. It’s makes sense that zygarde feels so unfinished so much so that they put him in the remakes following soon after gen 6. I think game freak definitely had so much production issues with gen 6 taking Pokémon from gen 5 leaving unfinished things in Pokémon x and y and then adding the unfinished things into Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Pretty sad to see Zygarde not getting used as intended.
Im glad they went with kyrem. I love the story with him
Volcarona used as a replacement for the Sun works if the sky was blocked out by, say, volcanic ash.
What if it was a double whammy? Combination of Volcarona's heat output plus the blanket of ash killing most living things in the area, effectively making it a desert.
I love Unova so much but there’s so much hate towards it and it makes me sad
Same😟
I greatly enjoyed all of your theories! Thanks for making this video! Have a good day!
Amazing theories, love your videos man!
Just thought of another reason why zygarde could’ve been originally made for unova. Reshiram is fire and dragon type and zekrom is electric and dragon. Kyurem is ice dragon which is just weak to fire but zygarde is ground dragon which would make it super effective against both. So maybe before deciding that kyurem would be the husk they had planned for it to be another ruler of the other two therefore having it be super effective against both
Another great video! I actually didn’t know quite a few of these. Hahaha also I checked you out on Spotify and I’m obsessed with your remixes :) good job!!
I really like this theory series you're doing! These are some good ones; I especially like the whole "N is a Zoroark" thing. Even if he's not actually a Zoroark, there's definitely something special about him. The Ghetsis theory is cool, too; this generation really had some good villain characters.
My speculation for the N memory link revolving zoroark is that it was in N's poke ball and was somehow able to see or here the conversation in some way. I've come to this conclusion through dialogue that I'm pretty sure ghetsis uses after fusing kyurem in response to the trainers poke balls trembling in anger.
Now, this might have been a dream, but I distinctly remember a cutscene from B2 in which a Zoroark poses as a man and talks to you. And it's illusory abilities can even affect more than it's own appearance, so it should be easy for it to look human anyway.
Edit: I looked it up, it's not really a cutscene, just a guy you can talk to that turns out to be a Zoroark.
This means: YES, Zoroark can look like a human _and TALK TO HUMANS_ canonically!
What about the fact it said Mini Tauros and 157, but that didn’t make it in
large green cobra? hmm OH MY GOD THEY ARE MAKING EKANS ANOTHER EVOLUTION

Ouff I remember when there was a Pokémon grey leaked where people were talking about a Pokémon similar to Zygarde, as soon as I saw it In gen 6 I was like “Wait wasn’t that supposed to be in gen 5” 😂 glad I wasn’t crazy after all these years
I did not know about that Volcarona lore. That is really fasinating!
the zygarde bit kinda makes bit of sense due to its typing being combo that can beat both zekrom and reshiram (ground dragon , ground beating fire and electric parts of the other two dragons).
Holy crap. Now that you mentioned about Ghetsis's right side, I want everyone to notice black Kyurem and white Kyurem. Isn't the right side of black Kyurem mostly fit with Zekrom's parts? Can't be a coincidence for Ghetsis's right RED eye patch and blackened arm.

Counterargument(?) to the Ground Zero basis theory:
Nimbasa City and Castelia City correspond to real neighborhoods (or groupings of them) in actual Manhattan. Nimbasa corresponds to Midtown, Broadway Theater and Grand Central Terminal(?) in particular. Castelia City is blatantly based on Lower Manhattan, skyscrapers and all. Entralink even corresponds to Central Park.
The Desert Resort is far too high up to correspond to the World Trade Center area. The construction motif? Well, something’s always being built in Manhattan...
(A possible other basis for it: Desert Resort more closely follows where Broadway [as in the street] is. It was historically the path laid by pre-colonial Native Americans for their settlement organization. So, the ancient civilization is then...?)
As a native New Yorker this is just something that’s always bothered me about the theory LOL
Yes back to Unova! *Team plazma theme plays*
I clicked on this video like The N Zoroark theory is definitely going to be here. 1st one in the video lol
the last theory at the end, he says that the underground place was a ancient city. it was because they confirmed it in the anime 😳
Don't forget that in pokemon black 2 and white 2 there is a weird hiker in a forest (i forget its name) that talk to you (in human language) and when you walk away he turn in to a zoroark. This prooves that there is a legitimate talking zoroark that can turn in to human in unova.
N is less of a villain and more of a rival.
No theory about Unova possibly being created from the world of MOTHER 3 and Kyurem being the Dark Dragon?
Route 4 could have been the impact site from the ultimate weapon AZ fired
Gordon Iya That’s an interesting theory🤔....
Feel the might of the Sun!!! - Sir Volca....I mean Sir Escanor
N is not a villain he is a sweetheart 😍
“A large green cobra”
“Fucking Rayquaza!!!”
“What? No... Zygarde”
“FUCK!”
To me, the N being a zoroark theory has its legitimacy, but I find it to be false because it would have some evidence in the anime to back it up and n has a zoroark on his team in black in white.
My take is that N's mother was a zoroark and the one on his team is his flesh and blood brother, while N's birth father is Ghestis himself. Part of it is from my theory that the Harmonia family (the family N and Ghestis are from) is the same family that was the royalty in the legend of the original dragon; in short, N is the decendant of the prince of truth/will (depending on the game) and the player in black and white is the decendant of the opposite prince (the one for the cover legendary). This could explain his ability to communicate with Pokemon so well.
Black and White are my fav Pokemon games
Its also wierd how Zygarde who is suppose to keep Xerneas and Yveltal in check has a type that is weak agaisnt them while his type is strong against Zekrom and Reshiram
Agreed. Despite on m opinions for Gen 5, these are some dang good theories.
But in the Gen 5 Pokédex they needed to fill it and they put Basculin there last second which doesn’t seem right as if Zygarde was meant for Gen 5 then they would of put Zygarde and not made Basculin
