Gorgeous car. Number 1 on your list is a no go on mine. I hate air suspension. Even at drive height, this gorgeous car looks like the front springs are shot. These cars were engineered for the Autobahn from the get go. In regular driving, the stock set up just works, simply and elegantly. The turn signals integrated into the headlamp assemblies had been the norm on these cars. They were moved to separate lamps because the old ones did not meet the standard for visibility, day or night. The side markers can be a big help when maneuvering in tight spots at night. The reflection gives a good idea of clearance. I do really love the silver on it. A striking colour indeed.
Great job! I love the color, it really compliments the simple lines, especially after you shaved the extraneous lenses and such. I think clean and fresh are the words i'd use to describe your build! Look forward to seeing more of it!
My parents had a brand new 280SE 4.5 in 1972. White w red interior. Dad changed the wheels / hubcaps out using factory correct alloys at the time and a wider Michelin tire set up. Looked much better, and of course drove much better. I will always have great memories of Dad, thanks for sharing. Especially for me seeing this on Father’s Day .. Happy Father’s Day to all ..
Superbly subtle resto-mod with genuine heritage both in terms of its make and model as well as a very long standing personal family background. Really look forward to seeing how well the engine will be improved. This very well produced auto channel has suddenly become one of my faves.
About the white walls, you have the right ones on there right now. A bigger whitewall will detract from the car I think. The wrong whitewall can make a car go from classy to tacky, they make that much of a difference. This car is about understatement, that's why it looks so elegant.
I had one of these a number of years ago. White with a dark brown interior. It was an American market car. It was the best sedan i have ever owned. The combination of reliability, performance, ageless style and comfort was awesome. It was a 1972.
I’m so jealous! What a beautiful car! I grew up with a 1970 220 Mercedes we picked up at the factory in Germany. Unfortunately it was too far gone by the time I could have fixed it up. You have come up with some great ideas for your car! Great job!
Missed an opportunity to inherit one myself, didn't respond soon enough damn lawyers. That your keeping it alive and it's kept in the family....Awesome 🤗
Raise the fuel rail pressure to 32PSI, should help if you have vapor lock (keeps the ethanol fuel from boiling as easily). You may also need to adjust your idle air speed screw, especially if the aux air valve isn't functioning properly - the bulb can expand / deform over time causing it to leak down. Feel free to join PeachParts and ask on the Vintage MB forum, enjoy it!
Great project car to perfect along the way. They don't make them like that anymore and the German cars of that era were hard to beat. I look forward to seeing more of this classic beauty.👏🏼🤗
Man, your great-grandpa must have been a confident guy driving that car in Michigan back when Detroit was still king. I still remember driving my Saab to Harbor Springs for the first time in 1991 and feeling like I was the only guy in town driving a foreign car! It was cool to see all of next years cars every summer, though. Still catch a few now and then. Had a nice talk with an F-150 engineer a few months ago who was driving a red Bronco - shelet me take a good hard look and even talked with me pretty openly about it. Not like the guy I tried to talk to in Wyoming in what appeared to be a thinly-disguised Blackwing. You’d think they’d want to talk to the kind of people who clearly know they’re driving something special (and are not trying to take pictures).
There’s a beautiful ride. I agree they are hard to find parts for. It’s even getting tough to find good parts cars that aren’t already stripped down or mangled.
Great car - excellent taste in modifications! Also (since you asked) - what if you and Tommy did a ‘Cruisin’ Colorado’ (multi-part series) where you do Trail Ridge road and some of the other paved passes around the state; could make for some fun content
Growing up in Flagstaff, AZ one of my buddy’s mom drove a then new ‘72 300 SEL 6.3. If was funny at the time, because everyone thought it was just an odd German car and ‘nothing’ compared to the crop of domestic luxury barges from Cadillac, Olds, Lincoln. One of his brother’s still has it stored somewhere here in AZ. Majorly expensive beasts to restore. Very cool car man!!!
Thank you Kase for showing us your W108! Nice ride with a personal touch. Have a question.....why did you block the foglights at the bottom of the Euro-light setup? 108 greatings from Sweden.
it looks good , and you've changed it to how you really like. That's all good, personally I like staying stock , myself. Either way, you've done your Grampa Well. He's happy that you've put so much Love into your work. I do hope that you've kept all of the original pieces just incase , you may want to reconvert it back to original?
You did the paint yourself? I am impressed! Only 50k miles? It's got a huge amount of life left. I imagine a lot of rubber parts, hoses and seals etc., under the hood have been changed or are due for same.
I wanna see it’s off-road performance! Jkjk. Very nice car. Usually I’m not a fan of changing a lot on classic cars, but this is very very well done. It looks so clean.
Thank goodness that the original (not this) Mercedes cars have a huge resale value and retain or even gain collector status. And only that fact allows this not to turn into a gigantic money grave.
That is a great body style. Love your car. My favorite of that era were the 300 SEL 6.3s. It was a 420+ lb ft torque monster beast. I forget what year (68-70 or something like that) but there was a Mercedes print ad claiming it was faster than a GTO.
Very, VERY well done!!!! I have a mega appreciation for the older classic and esp. antique Mercedes cars. I still want to pull a sacrilege and build a sleeper turbocharged LS swapped pre 1986 300D hahaha!
Paint the middle ring of the hub caps body-matching silver. Air bags aren't my thing, but to each his own. I like the shaved marker lights and the rest though. Chopping 2" out of the top would look great and emphasize the existing long low lines (look at a 1968 Cadillac), but that would be a lot of work.
It's the stock European look actually. Except the suspension and hub cap paint of course. The euro models never had the side markings. And the extra lights on the blank spots were not standard.
Damn, I had almost the exact car in 1998. Mine was blue with a white leather/blue carpet ! I didn't have the air suspension, but I had factory alloy wheels . It road like a cloud. Watch for rust in the pockets on the sides of the trunk.
A radical stero blasting Janis Joplin "OH LORD WON'T YOU BUY ME A MERCEDES BENZ!" A turtle neck, bell bottoms and platform shoes, a big peace symbol necklace to tie the whole look together!
Damn what a car... love it ive always wanted a old merc of about this spec and some day ill have one I would tint the windows and replace the tires like you said and I think the car would be perfect
This was the 1st MB I fell in love with. 23 years of MB ownership was exceptional. However, the current MB models are not made as well or as reliable :( Tesla is my current iconic vehicle
Kase has such a good taste on car's, I love to see much more with him on the channel.
I knew I liked this kid. This car is awesome. More Kase on TFL.
As a MB enthusiast, I love seeing younger people get into them as well. Great job.
Wow. You did a beautiful job on this and I think it honors the brand, you and your great-grandfather.

Great seeing Kase on this side of the camera…a natural. Nice car and so cool it’s still part of the family

Just when I didn't think you could get any cooler you do this 👍. Well done dude love the video
Absolutely beautiful car! I prefer the older yellow paint but so well done
Nooo not that buttenut yellow! Yikes
I like the old paint too, but this makes it look a little less like “grandpas car” if you know what I mean.
Resprays are so risky, especially when changing the color. For me… I hate yellow and gold. Yeck! :-)
Superbly subtle resto-mod with genuine heritage both in terms of its make and model as well as a very long standing personal family background. Really look forward to seeing how well the engine will be improved.

Might want to update the title with Chase saying '72 instead of '71
@@WW-wf8tu Aww Snap!
It's great to see such a young man that has talents like this. And very easy on the eyes. The guys a stud.
That is one of the best looking classic Mercedes I have ever seen 👌.
You and Tommy should have a drag race...I have a 300SEL 6.3...one of my favorite cars ever.
Nice ride. Good to see young guys keeping old cars alive.
What a ride. Loving the pure look but with air suspension. It is such a nice touch: laid back, enjoying its later years
The colour is nothing short of spectacular! The fact that you did it yourself makes it extra special. Beautiful "German Auto" :)
Beautiful car. I’m looking forward to a vintage Mercedes road trip with Tommy!
I’m so jealous! What a beautiful car! I grew up with a 1970 220 Mercedes we picked up at the factory in Germany. Unfortunately it was too far gone by the time I could have fixed it up. You have come up with some great ideas for your car! Great job!
Whoa. That is awesome mate.
Good job.
Missed an opportunity to inherit one myself, didn't respond soon enough damn lawyers.
That your keeping it alive and it's kept in the family....Awesome 🤗
congratulations, it's a beautiful car

Wow. Absolutely drool-worthy car. The colour, the stance, perfect
Great project car to perfect along the way. They don't make them like that anymore and the German cars of that era were hard to beat. I look forward to seeing more of this classic beauty.👏🏼🤗

I’m not much of a car guy. But the back story an what you’ve done as far as mods. Awesome Kase 👍🤙
What an honor to a family heirloom. Well done!
Another Awesome Kase video and Kase project vehicle.
Very nicely done. That is a super sharp looking old Benz.
Well Done sir.

Dude........that car is so perfect.
You did a great job modernizing a classic.
And............it's your granddad's car? So cool.
Thank you Kase for showing us your W108! Nice ride with a personal touch.
Have a question.....why did you block the foglights at the bottom of the Euro-light setup?
108 greatings from Sweden.
Good taste awesome restoration. A premium quality set of speakers is a must.
2do suggestion: After the paint is 100% cured, wrap it either fully or partially. Make it a "Woody", with teal, woodgrain, and roof rack
Very cool! Thanks for keeping this history alive!
I love the color! And the way it looks on bags!👍🏽
it looks good , and you've changed it to how you really like. That's all good, personally I like staying stock , myself. Either way, you've done your Grampa Well. Wow shaving the marker lights, made all the difference.
You did the paint yourself? I am impressed!
Only 50k miles? It's got a huge amount of life left. I imagine a lot of rubber parts, hoses and seals etc., under the hood have been changed or are due for same.
Although I loved your dad’s 911, this resto-mod Merc is just fantastic. Great job turning this classic into what you wanted it to be.
I’m amazed at how much classier it looks shaving the lights. Color is spot on as well. Great job. You should submit it to The Late Blake Show.
Super clean build man! Looking forward to seeing more of this.
Your AccuAir suspension was the BEST choice! Don't let anyone tell you different. iWish i could do that to my e36coupe project car.
I wanna see it’s off-road performance! Jkjk. Very nice car. Usually I’m not a fan of changing a lot on classic cars, but this is very very well done. It looks so clean.

That’s a very cool classic Mercedes & very nice work so far!😎
It looks BEAUTIFUL!!😍
That’s a beautiful car. My first Mercedes was a 1969 280S (twin Stromberg carbs) in Tobacco Brown. Stock suspension though.
Beautiful car & boy…we want to see more of kase!!!:)
That is a great body style. Love your car. My favorite of that era were the 300 SEL 6.3s. It was a 420+ lb ft torque monster beast. I forget what year (68-70 or something like that) but there was a Mercedes print ad claiming it was faster than a GTO.
Now that's a Mercedes....looking forward to see the completed car...Great job so far
Very, VERY well done!!!! I have a mega appreciation for the older classic and esp. antique Mercedes cars.
I still want to pull a sacrilege and build a sleeper turbocharged LS swapped pre 1986 300D hahaha!
Sweet ride Kase. Luv what ya' did to it. Great job.. Great video. Look forward to more with you.
Your great great grandfather was a baller. Beautiful job. I have my grand father’s Plymouth wagon and have done pretty much the same thing.
Beautiful MB....sinister yet classic. Looking forward to more videos.
Sweet! Very nice job on the ol Merc!
Looks great man….will it ever end up on TFL Bids?😊
This is a fantastic car and your updates are definitely good taste!
I love the classics
Looks great. Tasteful customization.
Paint the middle ring of the hub caps body-matching silver. Air bags aren't my thing, but to each his own. I like the shaved marker lights and the rest though. Amazing looking Mercedes, love those headlights! Great job!
Bro. That is the most awesome car ever!!! I totally want to buy it!!!!!
That is one sweet Merc.... You got it almost perfect... Keep up the good work!
It's the stock European look actually. Except the suspension and hub cap paint of course. The euro models never had the side markings. And the extra lights on the blank spots were not standard.
Subtle and nice touches. Looks nice. Reminds me of when people liked to shave and lower 30s and 40s models.
When are you guys coming out to the MI Dream Cruise? Looks like there was a MI plate on there!
Subtle and tasteful. Great job
Epic transformation
Nice ride❤️
This was a very good watch!
Sick. Looks like it should be in an old James Bond movie. I keep expecting Odd Job or someone like that to climb out of it...
Awesome ride!!! Like father like son.
You have a very good design taste!
Beautiful car. Thanks for sharing. Love it.
I am not a Mercedes fan but your car does look very good! Very very good.
You have done so much right with the car!! Not too much, just right…🍻
Damn, I had almost the exact car in 1998. Mine was blue with a white leather/blue carpet ! I didn't have the air suspension, but I had factory alloy wheels . It road like a cloud. Watch for rust in the pockets on the sides of the trunk.
Great story and a beautiful car.
A radical stero blasting Janis Joplin "OH LORD WON'T YOU BUY ME A MERCEDES BENZ!" A turtle neck, bell bottoms and platform shoes, a big peace symbol necklace to tie the whole look together!
Very tasteful and stylish. Just hit that goldilocks zone
Love the car one of my favorite body style. Nice job 👏. Looks very clean.
Great restomod! Take it to the track for 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
Great build
Definitely diggin the whip and kase😍
Great job!!
Beautiful car, dude!
Nice one! Congrats. Don't use it in winter, they rust like crazy
Damn what a car... love it ive always wanted a old merc of about this spec and some day ill have one I would tint the windows and replace the tires like you said and I think the car would be perfect
What a beautiful car! Gorgeous!
The chrome covers definitely made a difference but im glad they weren't on there during shipping.
This was the 1st MB I fell in love with. 23 years of MB ownership was exceptional. However, the current MB models are not made as well or as reliable :( Tesla is my current iconic vehicle
My gawd is that thing sexy, nice work!!
Very nice!
Looks good!
