HOPE SOLO. She got into a huge trouble.
@WatchMojo I am a bit surprised that you didn’t include NASCAR Driver, Kyle Larson on this list. He was suspended back in 2020 for a HUGE mistake! But after going through sensitivity training, he was reinstated in 2021 and went on to win the championship that year in dominating fashion. He just about threw it all away, but boy did he manage to REDEEM himself!
I don't know if pro wrestling qualifies as a "sport" but Hulk Hogan ruined his own career with racist remarks caught on tape and removed from the WWE Hall of Fame, along with denying Steroid use during the Steroid scandal of the late 90s.
How unsettling is it to look back at these interviews showing people admitting their indiscretions _to_ Matt Lauer?
For real,he acted as if he had moral high ground everytime too.karma came for him
The ingrained irony of America
@@COMPFUNK2 There is 0 evidence he’s guilty of what he was accused of. The woman even said for an entire year that it was consensual before the SJW crew probably convinced her she got raped after the fallout of her actions. She’s a hoe who cheated on her man with a famous guy and wanted an out, and she let him take the fall for it.
O.J. retired 15 years before the incident, his career was not ruined it was over.
“Artest career would never be the same”
Gets championship with the lakers and was a vital piece of the title run.
This is not a great list... Artest entire life went up after that suspension, and some of these other incidents aren't directly tied to the person's downfall.
Most of the list are nothing related.
If anything the one player whose career took a big hit because of the Malice at the Palace was Jermaine O'Neal.
You all honestly think that Tonya Harding should be higher on the list than Aaron Hernandez, who killed someone?
Well Aaron is dead...so.
Yes cause instead of feeling some kinda remorse for her wrongdoing of the past, she takes the time on Oprah’s stage to Glorify herself as the “One and Only Female Skater to Pull off the Triple Axel” as if that’s more important than the Commission of crime she participated in .. Narcissistic trait
@@Avaa-vanilla995 I am not sure how old you are, but the Harding situation CAPTIVATED the country. It was way bigger than AH, in terms of coverage.
My first thought was Rae Carruth. All-Rookie WR. From what I remember, mid-season he hired someone to murder his girlfriend because she was pregnant and refused to get an abortion.
his son may have forgiven him, but considering his mother died and his mental development was impaired because of his premature birth, Carruth deserves all the grief in the world.
The Jim Rome segment is missing the main point of the insult. It wasn’t just Chris, it’s Chrissy as in Chrissy Everett the multi-major title winning female tennis player. That is the crux of the insult. It’s not the wrong name it’s calling him a girl.
Chris is her name, but yes, it was intended to imply that he was "unmasculine."
Lance Armstrong could’ve had a career greater than it was if not for two circumstances: his performance-enhancing drug scandal and the lies he told about it.
Uhh… the fact he did the drugs disproves your so-called point…
Armstrong clearly thought he needed the drugs to win in the first place, or else he wouldn’t have done them. So his career without the drugs is not nearly as notable as it was with the drugs and scandal.
Ya him and about 20 of his competitors also did.
Wasn’t he also a total dick
@@moscowcentreimagine being mad he lied to make money for cancer, kinda even the scales out, nothing about his foundation was fraudulent
@@kwiley025I dnt get why people care, the money he raised for cancer totally cancels tht out
11:18 his career would never be the same , bro won a ring 😂🤣
Exactly… his career up to that point was championshipless… after MatP, it would go on to be “never the same”
Earned a ring; so not championshipless anymore, lol
Lmfao Zizou was literally playing final professional game after announcing that he would retire after that World Cup🤣🤣🤣
I think McEnroe's career went just fine and was not ruined at all. And saying a press conference ruined a TERRIBLE QB's career is laughable
Jim Everett did not ruin his career by attacking Jim Rome. In fact a lot of people thought Rome asked for it and Everett did what he had to do.
Bertuzzi’s attack on Moore was probably the worst incident I’ve ever seen in hockey, but the league was also partly to blame because if Moore properly disciplined for the hit on Naslund, that incident probably wouldn’t have happened in the first place. Moore’s career wouldn’t have ended so abruptly and Bertuzzi’s reputation wouldn’t have been tarnished.
Honorable Mentions:
Mark Chimera
Ray Kuruth
Shawn Kemp
Boris Becker
Deshawn Watson
Mark McGuire
Sammy Sosa
Barry Bonds
Jose Conseco
Forgive me but isn’t it Mark McGuire not McQuire? Just wondering…
Deshaun Watson shouldn’t technically be on here as he is still playing for the brown but is on injured list
16:59 that’s not Michael Vick. That’s Kevin Kolb. Vick wore #7.
Jim Everett is still most known by the Jim Rome moment to bad he didn't get some more time with Rome alone
The Ryan lochte situation is so infuriating.
Imagine being the guy destined to chase micheal phelp's records and break it....but instead u get drunk, vandalise public property and then lie and stage a crime.
The guy just threw away a very precious career for something so stupid.
Look into it more. It came out that the original was closer to the truth and they were being blackmailed or something and they just wanted it all to go away. There wasn’t a point in arguing. This video doesn’t tell the whole story.
That clip with Jim Rome strait up provoking his guest. I’ve always disliked him for that and never understood how anyone likes him.
Fast forward 30+ and Jim Rome is still as terrible as ever.
He is and always will be a douche
Lamar Odom was already retired when he had those stokes. His career was already done.
Why does the video start with athletes who ruined their career, then randomly there’s a bunch of athletes that got mad in a game or match and there were no career-level consequences?! Lazy video and/ or clickbait title. 5:34 #15 got mad and then won the match, no mention of ANY consequences?! ‘…Ruined Their Careers’ okay. Lazy video and/ or clickbait title
I know I was like most of them didn't runied their career
Yeah, I had the same thought, especially when Roberto Alomar came up. Dude’s a Hall of Famer and one of the best second basemen of all time. One incident born out of immature anger doesn’t necessarily ruin an entire career.
Where’s Chris Benoit? The man ruined his career and legacy.
Ehh, they arent technically athletes. I would argue they are but they are classified as "entertainers".
Theyre absolutely atheletes. @@thevelourfog15
to be fair, his career ended with his death, so it wasnt ruined. But his legacy is forever tainted
Benoit was murdered 💯
@@thevelourfog15wrong they are 1000% real athletes
The first one that comes to mind when thinking about athletes ruining their career is Lance Armstrong
Athletes whom you clearly stated made comebacks should not be included on the list.
Johnny Manizel is an embarrassment for both of Texas A&M Aggies & the Cleveland Browns.
“The defence says that if only they knew what Ron Goldman’s last words were they might be able to find the real killer. If you ask me his last words were: “Hey you’re OJ Simpson!”
- Norm McDonald
Nobody is going to mention she is skating to the batman theme song 😂
why does that matter
"I'm Batman"
What about Kermit Washington bashing Rudy Tomjanovic's face on December 9th of 1977
"ruined their legacy" is probably a better title to this than "ruined their career"
Jim Rome is a punk. He should be lucky that it wasn't Barry Bonds. Because I think bonds would have smacked his ass. For always calling him Barry bones
Roberto Alomar should not be on this list. That was not career ruining.
I thought they would talk about him spreading HIV to tons of women 🤷♂
Henry ruggs III
Unalived woman & dog when he drove 100+ mph, drunk
(He & passenger survived)
And he's was a great wide receiver for two years. But instead of getting an Uber he made a lady and dog burn to death. And destroyed his career and dreams. Think about that the next time you about to drink and drive.
What about the text master himself, Bret Favre?!
what about him
@@jimbo9208 Welfare fraud case in Mississippi.
@@CGrascal His career was over by then.
Art Schlichter? Ryan Leaf? Rae Carruth?
No mention of the time Albert Haynesworth walked over to a pile up of players, purposefully removed an opposing player's helmet, and then stamped his cleats into his skull?
More narrations by Tom, please! Love his deliveries and attention to pronouncing names correctly. Could listen to him all day, even if he was just reciting the ingredients on the side of a cereal box. 😂
Artest went into the crowd and attacked an innocent fan. He should have never been able to play basketball after that
Jake paul and all his fixed fights should be on here
How is his career ruined? He literally headlined a Netflix event last week
are there evidences?
@ragnarthorvaldson8778 other than him picking out all the judges and having in the contract that if Tyson knocked him out he had to pay a fine u mean?
How did this ruin Roberto Alomar’s career? It looks like they squashed the beef and everything was cool after
Watchmojo, your time is up. Having to use clickbait titles to get clicks just to stay afloat demonstrates it.
OJ can rest easy knowing the killer is finally dead.
You forgot all about Albert Belle, the Dennis Rodman of Baseball!
Holyfield was head butting Tyson and deserved what got.
Marion Jones?
Who Marion Jones
Ron artest went on to win a championship after this not sure if it counts as ruined
No one seems to remember a competitive sprinter named Ben Johnson, but he lost all of his glory when steroids were found in his system.
Highly recommend the podcast Crime In Sports if you liked this list
Ron Artest won an NBA championship in 2010 with the Lakers, and that piece was a title run.
I’m not sure how #16 & #15 “ruined their careers”
Alomar clearly kept playing and patched things up with the ump in question and the tennis guy seemingly just made a fool of himself for a bit and kept going… no ramifications or stiff penalties; no lasting damage to their career, just embarrassing footage of them being idiots
Artest won a championship after that ...I wouldn't called that a career ruined
They lost all the respect doesnt make sense ruining youre career good video WatchMojo 👏
Ummm Artest played for the Lakers after the incident......and won a championship so how did that ruin his career lol??
Zidane was retiring after the game so how was his career ruined?
tbh "I can't hear you, theres too much money in my hand!" got me
Jim Everett became a legion and did not ruin his Carrer.
One of the reasons I don’t want to be a celebrity is that most of what you do is filmed or has a picture of it. I get that most of this stuff is very immature and ridiculous. But to some extent these people are still humans who aren’t perfect and who have lots of stress put on them. Again that’s no excuse to be a jerk or a criminal. But most of these things could just be talked up to celebrities who under stress
Honorable mention: those baseball stars that blew their Hall of Fame chances by using steroids, gambling and mouthing off controversially.
Lance Armstrong, O. J. Simpson & Tonya Harding will regret what they did as sports criminals.
Henry Ruggs
“There was a time when Pistorius was among the most famous Paralympic sprinters around.” Lolol
That reminds me, is there a Trainwreckords or even Regretting The Past-type series for athletes?
Wow, whoever made this video has no idea what the word 'ruined' means. The majority of these players careers werent ruined by these incidents. Artest had more than 10 years in the league following the incident, including a championship. Jim Everrett had absolutely zero repercussions from the Rome incident and had career highs in completions, pass attempts and passing percentage following the incident, and it could be argued that the incident started the downfall of Rome's career. Manziel was partially cut for his off-field behavior, but the real problem that got him cut was he refused to learn the playbook, refused to take his job seriously, and his performance was terrible on the field. The Browns wouldnt have cut him if he was playing well. I could keep going for many more of these, particularly McEnroe (who is better known because of his rants than he would be without them, and had many successes following these incidents) but it's clear the word 'ruined' isnt understood by whoever made this clickbait.
Nerd
I was also thinking the same thing
Dude can't even say the name of the tennis tournament correctly...
Why can't they do real athletes instead of just US athlete that no one outside the US has ever heard of?
Jim Everett also was "sacked" in the 1989 NFC Championship game vs the 49ers without being touched (Niners won 30-3)
How long before we get a top 30 version of list with these 20 entries with 10 new ones?
Ryan Lochte only at 20 is crazy. Bro should have been stripped of all of his medals and barred from all competitions for life
Michael Vick's reputation has been completely revived. He does media, he had a good career with the Eagles. People will always remember the crime, but most have forgiven him
He doesn't deserve forgiveness.
I remember seeing on the news once, Mcenroe hanging out in the streets with some billionaire named Longfellow Deeds.
Doesn't sound like Alomar ruined his career.
21:31 Anyone surprised by WatchMojo's number one pick for the "Top 10 Athletes Who Ruined Their Career"?
RIP, BTW.
You gotta tell the whole Lochte story. While he did exaggerate in the beginning, it wasn’t what the press made it out to be either. They were detained and had to pay the (yes armed) security guards to get their passports back. Was shady af.
Take a shot every time they use Lance Armstrong saying "yes" on Oprah and the accidental mispronunciation of OJ's name when the verdict is read in one of their videos
So, no Colin Kaepernick, no Antonio Brown, and yet you have OJ Simpson, who had already retired and was in the hall of fame at that point, and you had a bunch of athletes whose just had some mild controversies and not much else?
How does protesting against systemic racism "ruining " anything? If anything, it exposed just how racist the owners of the NFL are, and has done nothing but prove how embarrassingly racist the US is at all levels.
those media sometimes coz of outburst then suddenly the player's career "ruined"
Idk about infamous player but you probably seen nba player tyler honeycutt had a shoot out with cops in 2018
First, most of these athletes aren't known outside of the US; just a fact 🇺🇲
Second, most still went on to have successful careers despite these incidents 🏅
LOL, wasn't OJ's career already over? How about Antonio Brown? Or Deshawn Watson
Instead of this, how about Top 20 Athletes Who's Careers Were Ended Due To Injuries.
You know I thought Kyle Larson did. I was very wrong.
Lamar Odom is the worst heel for the reality series "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
Let Tanya return, figure skating needs it!!!
I don’t like Tony Rome and OJ Simpson.
Number 15 was a terrible pic for this list. Didn’t even explain how it ruined his career. Just a lil embarrassing
Oh no zizou's career was never the same. He went on to win 3 CL Finals in a row as a coach
He went on to win a championship but his career was never the same. This video could have been vetted mored
As bad as it was the Malice in the Palace didn’t ruin his career. It ruined Jermaine O’Neals tho.
War: Jim Rome calling out minor league hockey players to cripple Gordie Howe’s attempt to play a fifth decade on the ice.
I was watching Ice Hockey once and half way through the second period a match broke out

Some of these were just infamous/low moments, not career enders.
The ones in the top 10 were pretty accurate
Roberto Alomar and Derek Anderson does not belong in this list.
11:50 result of a little man trying to act big.
Crazy and sad
that wasn't vick when you showed the footage of that eagles qb running getting mauled by the packers
Awww! Simpson Simpson could been the biggest inspiration to many generations
But Fate had something else mind it's So Sad
8:39 oh no. Not $2100. That’s like 7 grand today
Bertuzzi played 10 more seasons. Career wasn't quite ruined.
OJ as #1??? BUT HE WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY!!!🤣🤣🤣
How oj blow his career,he was retired and found not guilty. Then got arrested for going to get stuff that was stolen from him.
How exactly did alomar and youzhny ruin their careers?? One got thrown out of a game the other hurt himself once.
