Can I say that it’s not only the teams that have gotten better as we have progressed. Your reports have become better every day and I am very grateful for them.
My thanks Mathew informing and 'even keeled' - certainly not 'exactly' how we all assumed the round robins would end up - but great for INEOS! Sorry to see any team exit at this point, and actually I think that is an error in this case however this is the way the event was planned. Surely INEOS will pick Alinghi, but they could equally pick AM on current form. Let us see what a few days work in the shed will do for each of the teams. Really enjoying this AC bravo to ETNZ and INEOS and their respective clubs for their work on this edition.
Any chance (or perhaps scope in the agreement between defender & challenger of record) that the eliminated teams are allowed to sail against/alongside syndicates whose participation continues in the contest? I think historically I can recall an eliminated contender doing some practice races against cup holders who are waiting to enter the next phase of events.
Not counting the replacement helmsman (which can't be a good thing?), AM seems like they are going backwards. It seemed like the same thing happened to them in Auckland. A trait of their skipper influencing the organization? I wonder about this (and I am an AM fan, so I hope they can improve).
AM is a tough watch for us Yanks... We have no homegrown talent. The boat can't handle the bottom end of the wind range and they seemed focused on aerodynamic vs fluid which is odd. If they had to rebuild the whole program after the last AC, is there even a future for them if they fail here? Grim AC days on this side of the Atlantic.
go to the dance with who brought you… I hope & pray AM wins… and like the French skipper said what doesn’t kill you makes you better so we’re still in the fight.
Did the Kiwis refuse to defend at home? The most exciting cancellation was the lightning strike, the other cancellations were rather slow. Who knows maybe during the next one a pod of dolphins will entertain us
@@locominyana8916 I didn’t know, thanks for replying. I was so excited for this race and I really feel let down. So much so I just checked the average wind speed in Barcelona and found it’s between slim and none. If the location can’t get any worse then I’m looking forward to 2028
The French Orient Express Team failed because of poor culture. They had the wrong boatbuilding philosophy, and their sailing team lacked the detail and experience to run a Grand Prix sailing project. They waited too long for the NZ design that did not translate into a boat of equal speed and lacked the time sailing the boat required to optimise its performance. Hopefully, they gained good experience that will set them up for the next AC campaign assuming they are using the same style of boat, which I pray will change because the racing is so boring.
@@captainparlo9508 you can count on one hand "good" AC races in the last 30 years. None last cycle, none in Bermuda, 2 or 3 in SF, 1 in Valencia, maybe 2 in NZ before that. Don't kid yourself. AC finals racing is always a snooze.
Two videos I wait for
1) any mozzy sails
2) daily planet sail AC summary
I second that - Matt & Mozzy cover all bases.
@@Penguinracer its great here below the equator ..

another superb recap, awesome pressure for the unlucky, gg orient express be proud 👏👏
Well done Ineos, a couple of weeks ago I was worried about them getting out of the round robin stage, great result.
Thank you Matt!
Great summary Matt and great questions in the interviews.
A good round up of the first challeger series. One up to the Brits. The next series will propably provide new insights into each team.
Another terrific report.

Cheers, with either if these shows i wouldnt pay attention as closely
I'd love to hear you as one of the commentators
A race where the boats fly and the grinders cycle. What a time to be alive.
Fantastic
Amazed at how many find this boring and yet they keep watching
Adieu mes amis.
Best wishes, Team NZ.

Terry needs to step aside …. The sport has passed him by.

Could the French train with kiwis before the match? After all, they got their design package from them.
Bernard was French Relax 😊 we need a sailing base In'na Tonga ❤

Kiwi? 🥝
too bad there is n9 sailing footage - talk is boring

There wasn't enough money to be defending it here in NZ
I don’t like race committee, moving things after a race starts
Is that typical in New Zealand?
… The moving & changing gate locations after start of a race…. Is this typical now?

I really hope we see the French stick around and sail with the Kiwis for the rest of the challenger series? I think it's a win win for both teams. ❤🤍💙
Now there's an idea worth thinking about! A sharing of a little knowledge to trial / practice a few pre start maneuvers in the start box!
Amerian Magic embarrassed themselves again.
Sad to see. Is Connor and Whidden available? :)
