Had this lp as a young student in 1980 when everyone else was playing Duran Duran. I'm no muso, didn't understand how great it was but spun and enjoyed it a lot.
read a book about Dizzy Gillepsie ( well a good half of the book is devoted to him) and this is the first time I've heard his music :D Nice one FuriousFord!
Wow, its completely bizarre listening to it at this speed! It took me a while to work out if it was a different version. Listen to the bass solo!!! Fun but yeah... maybe i should have read the description first.
@emcee4CEE You can play many things over chords, but this is not what I meant in my comment. Please, read it more carefully before hurrying with comments.
It's wrong speed and therefore the wrong tempo and key. It's recorded in d minor but here sounds like g minor. I'm not saying it does not sound interesting- just not what THEY had in mind.
Been a lifetime lover of jazz and it doesn't get much better than this. Kind regards to all fellow jazz lovers. England, July, 2023.
