    I came across this video and was like, I used to have one of his boards! Definitely the best board I ever owned! Neon orange, purple, green, and yellow. The board was an HIC. It was back in the late 80’s.

    that was awesome, made me shed a tear. i miss being close enough to the beach to surf. just recently started making the 1 hour drive this summer a few times with my kids. Surfed a big fish foamie twice and bought 2 craigslist beater boards that are way too small. But i gotta say the board bug has bitten me after pocketing and trimming a few waves. No dough for a new board but been studying all the new summer shapes, and styles. would just love to have a whole quiver. I love boards, shapes, and how they function to individual styles. the childhood story of your first board has me wanting to buy a blank. God has blessed you Eric. peace.

    You're a good guy, Eric. You found your purpose and reached the pinnacle. What Mom wouldn't be proud? And what a nice thing that you finished Eddie's board and gave it to Pop and the Ohana. Using gifts to touch and inspire others... that's what it's all about. Mahalo nui, a he'e nalu. A hui hou aku nou.

    Me complace escuchar a Erick y ver la sencillez que tiene, que denota un alma libre y feliz de hacer lo que gusta. Un espíritu joven que no se deja enmohecer por los años y las demandas de la edad. Es satisfactorio ver las similitudes con mi historia como shaper. Gracias por compartir tu experiencia. Mahalo

    what is that planer with the curved front!?

    • @olafhenke5654
      @olafhenke5654 8 лет назад

      +IClausius its a custom modified planer for cutting down the stringer. curved front adapts to the curve of the shape. That CNC machine (DSD) does not cut the wood stringer so they use the planer for that.

    3:45 Best decisions a person can make. College is overrated. I have a college degree and I use none of what I learn to make a living. I don't even work on what I went to college for. Save the money you'll spend in degrees and invest it somewhere else that can cash flow. The stock market, real estate, franchises, etc. Don't get in debt for a college degree.

    ...and someday "I" realized that better become in a businessman, have a machine, pay a crew to do all the work, spend money in a bit of marketing to promote hype and let ALL the new generations BELIEVE that this is the way to go, the soul and tears of this labor...changing the perception and play "magician" with customers.
    This shows what is ALL WRONG with modern world; a confusion with capitalism, the bad part of it.

    • @BEEBEE159

      I'm struggling with this idea of modern day "success." I know exactly what you mean when you criticize the capitalist system; however, what's the alternative? I have a similar passion as Eric, for surfing and surfboard design. I'm curious about how you view success. Using Eric as an example...How do you think he should have lived his life? What should he have done differently? In your opinion, where did Eric go wrong? I really hope that you can answer these questions because I am struggling to see success in a different light. I, too, am sick and tired of this system of slavery and debt. Everything we do in this world seems to work against us. We are overworked, underpaid, risking our lives doing jobs that are hazardous to our heath, and which even bring negative effects on our families, often leading to divorce. You seem like a very thoughtful person; and I really want to know what you think. Thank you in advance.

      Man I am broke all the time but I manage to shelter myself have food on the table and spare money for my lifestyle, I play music for no money and surf between work hours. I feel like I am happier compare to most successful business man. Key to life is to work hard but simplifie the materlistic life that's condition in our brains since birth.
