  • In this video, I show how to install Urethane bandsaw tires by yourself.
Tires used (For 14" wheels)- amzn.to/36w2mQo
    You will need to:
1- Place new tires in warm/hot water to allows them to stretch more.
2- Remove the bandsaw wheels, and existing tires.
3- Take shoes off and sit on the ground. (I found it easier this way but you can also clamp the wheel to your bench).
4- Using a large screw driver, dowel or similar, work the tire on in segments adjusting as you go.
5- After the tire is on, use the screwdriver to working everything down into the correct position.
6- Screw the wheels back on.
7- Put the gullet (not the teeth) of the blade in the center of the tire.

Using a wooden dowel instead of a screwdriver, just keep rolling the dowel between the tire and wheel a few times. It redistributes the tire better and more uniformly, and also reduces or eliminates the tendency of tire to ride to one side.

I don't see how a dowel can be better than a large screwdriver (if both are used the same way) as both are simply a rod.

I must have missed it, how long do you soak the new tire in hot water?

You mentioned that you were following the instructions but unless Sulpher Grove Tool has changed them, they say to use clamps or zip ties to hold the tire in place. It makes the job easier than trying to hold the tire on with your hand. Also, they also don't recommend using hot water.

If it works, it works. BEst is to get a second person. Everything I read said warm water for the tires. The most important thing to remember is, it worked.

your wheels don't appear to have a crown in the alloy casting, (mine don't either). Do those urethane tyres have a crown? or did you have to sand the tyre down at all??

from memory the wheels didn't (??) but the tires certainly do- no sanding required :)

@@richardreed3016 just make sure they are the right size- some bandsaws wheels are wider or narrow. And these are for a 14” wheel
