In this video, we look at the oxidation of secondary and tertiary alcohols. First we look at how to oxidise secondary alcohols and the products that are formed. We then look at why ketones cannot be oxidised. Finally, we explore why tertiary alcohols cannot be easily oxidised.
This video is aimed at the UK A Level Chemistry specifications. Students studying International A Level Chemistry will need to check their specification.

Sir will you cover halogenoalkanes or equilibrium topic for A-levels. Thank you for you video. Also is the alcohols topic videos the order in which it is taught

Hi. The order of teaching differs for different schools and teachers. I order the videos in what I feel is the most logical way for student understanding. I'm currently about to upload a small number of GCSE videos and then I'll get back to the alcohols topic. Once that's done (which should not take too long), I'll do halogenoalkanes.

Hi, I wanted to ask: are your videos for A-Level Biology and A-Level Chemistry separated for AS and A-Level content, and how can I tell which video is for AS content and which for A-level content? Many thanks in advance.
Also, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the work that you put into these videos, for us students. It has been incredibly useful throughout my GCSEs and now, as I complete A-Levels in these sciences. You're brilliant!

Hi and thanks for the comment. The A level videos I'm releasing at the moment cover the Year 12 AS parts of the course. When I start the videos covering Year 13 A level content (in around six months), I'll label all the videos as either AS or A level.
