    Excellent video. I think you were actually in Wire Pass Canyon until the "T" where the petroglyphs were. Then you have the option to go up(left) or down(right) Buckskin Gulch. The first time I did this, many years ago, the drop at the ladder was only about 4 feet. The last time I did it, it was about 8 feet or so but no ladder yet. Good find on the petroglyphs. It seems many people have trouble finding them.

    That was very “gulchy” 😂. Love a good slot canyon and those looked legit 🙌🏼. Horseshoe Bend is amazing and we were overwhelmed too by it. This video tells us that we need cooler friends that live in awesome locations 🤪

    Actually you barely scratched the surface of Buckskin Gulch, that was mostly just the Wire Pass entrance that is about 1.7 miles to the T. And then after the T was Buckskin Gulch and that is a continuous slot for 12 miles, with only one exit spot possible. Then you come to the Paria Canyon, and if you take a left it is another 7 miles to a trail head.

    How far is the hike from the trail head to the buckskin gulch?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  2 года назад +2

      Not remembering the exact distance, but maybe around half a mile or so. Not too far!

      1.7 miles to the T. Then take a right and Buckskin Gulch is a continuous slot with only one possible exit for the next 12 miles. Then you get to the Confluence of Paria River canyon and take a left and it is another 7 wet miles to the Paria trail head. The middle of the slot can have quick sand and mud and wading, and a few boulder obstacles with some climbing.

    So antelope canyon is not the same as the buckskin gulch? I’m supposed to be going next week and have been trying to figure out where to go. I was told they were the same place. Please help

    buckskin gulch and antelope canyon are similar but different, their scale is very different from each other , one is all commercialized now and the other isnt I have been to antelope once but 5 times to buckskin, one of them will be over in an hour and the other can be a 2 day adventure this should be enough to say which one is better

    Warning to all of you who want to go here now: this place will kill you if you aren't prepared. Always go with folks who are respectful. Never alone.
    Frankly, I am sad to see my homeland on YT for the world to see. Utah is my home. Please, just do your research and be prepared for anything. Remember, "Pack it in. Pack it out."
